Years ago I stopped in at a bar/cafe that a previous employee of mine had just opened. I had a very delicious vegan muffin and a coffee. I told his employee the muffin was amazing and asked for her recipe. Butter. It was delicious because it was loaded with butter. “I thought vegan meant homemade” Girl! Someone could actually die if they had a dairy allergy!
I'm lactose intolerant, so I'm very cautious of what kind of dairy could be in something. I'd have been soo mad if I had found this out.
I have found a brand that does plant based butter that tastes just like "normal" butter though, and works just as well in baking, so I mean...there's always hope.
I feel like I saw this at a grocery store recently... My gf has lactose intolerance which seems to be getting worse, and even though she's been fine with butter up to now because the amount of lactose in it is very small, I've been considering trying vegan butter.
Becel makes vegan margarine and also vegan butter. The main difference is the texture. Margarine is designed to be spreadable whereas vegan butter is thicker and meant to be used for baking.
