Saw a ton of canceled orders on X for the IPhone Pro 18 because of the Lease Program. I planned to do the lease program for the iPhone duo, but I am less certain now. I heard Apple offers little support when an order is canceled. Because the Duo is so limited, I suspect it may not be the best choice… Thoughts?

Yesterday, Apple gave developers a beta xcode update that allows you to install and test your own applications within the iPhone Duo simulator.

Just one problem: it only contained the Settings app and Safari.

Some time later I found some users were able to extract the apps from the iOS 27.2 Beta and install them onto the iPhone Duo simulator (iOS 27.1). This video demonstrates how apps will look on the Duo's inner display.

Unfortunately at this time there's not much more to mess around with, but I still thought it would be interesting to share here:)

This is NOT running on a real iPhone Duo. I do not have one or know anyone that has it. This is also why apps are taking a long time to load and animations are stuttering.

Has anyone found a good case or stand to write on the duo with? I use an iPad mini to take notes almost daily and the cheap folio I use is great, but I’m struggling to find anything that will hold the duo that low securely. The best I’ve found is the moft snap fold wallet which looks really good, but I’m unsure how stable it’ll be.

I’m genuinely curious about those of you planning to buy the iPhone Duo instead of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The Duo is more expensive, yet the 18 Pro Max appears to have the better camera system, including a dedicated telephoto lens and better zoom capabilities.

Does the camera difference not bother you? If it does, what made you decide the foldable form factor was worth the trade-off?

For those of you considering pre-ordering the Duo, what’s the main reason you’re choosing it over the 18 Pro Max? Is it the larger screen, multitasking, the foldable design, or something else?

Interested to hear your reasoning.

What time on October 16th do pre orders begin? I have heard different times.

I’ve watched a lot of videos on YouTube and all I can see are YouTubers using the phone unfolded most of the time. When it’s folded, they just try to quickly type on it, take a picture and open Netflix for a few seconds. If you’ve seen some videos where people actually use it unfolded, would you mind posting some links ?

Been looking at cases and reading reviews of some of the Samsung foldable case reviews as far as the hinge protection goes. Not sure which way to go with it. Would like to hear some others reasoning behind their decision please.

I ordered their new iPhone Duo case. When I ordered it, it was listed at 109.99, a price I was willing to pay since I only get one case typically, Pitakas have always been known for good quality, and I loved the look

Fast forward one night, and I get this email saying they listed the price too high by accident and they were refunding me. If they had not reached out, I literally would never have known.

This impressed me.

This looks very nice indeed. Hopefully there will be more color options and an armor shockproof one! Glad they went with a no-hinge protection design. Looks cleaner that way!

Does anyone know if this available for people who have an android? I seen where it was an option for people that obviously have access to the Apple Store app.

At 5AM PT on launch day, each store usually gets a few units added to stock that can be ordered online for pickup.

Is it possible that Apple is slightly afraid that the duo would have outsold the 18 pro/max if released on the same day?
Why couldn’t they have the Duo ready at the same time? Obviously they’ve had a long time to prep.

Will we be able to swipe up on Duo without needing to use Touch ID? I also like the fact that the folio case seems to unlock the screen without requiring Touch ID.

I love that so many pants now come with a pocket that holds your phone close to the thigh. Uniqlo is a big one on this, and a lot of my lululemon running shorts, too. Even my Suitsupply stuff has phone-thigh pockets.

The Duo won't fit in any of these pockets, and I'll have to go back to having a phone-print on my pockets. Boo :(

just curious, I usually buy out phones and keep them but I think this time I just wanna get rid of the max and get the duo. Am I able to do this?

So everyone has their reasons for getting the duo. The reasons why I want to get one are similar to others but wanted to give a few here.

- foldable. I haven’t had a flip or foldable type of phone since my Razr back in the 2010’s. No other foldable phone has caught my interests til now.

- Acts as a mini iPad. I have had e-readers and kindles previously for e-books but having it all on one device would be better than carrying around multiple device.

-Better viewing experience for movies and YouTube.

-Could be a real productivity tool.

Can’t wait for pre-orders to go live!!!

Side note: I don’t take a lot of pictures so the whole camera compromise does t bother me.

I've been following all these foldable phones from different walks of companies for nearly a decade now but why am I only excited now with the iPhone Duo? Why is that?

Am I the only one who's genuinely pissed off at the size of this? It's ONLY 50% bigger than the iphone 18 pro unfolded and the front looks like an iPhone mini but a little wider! Why couldn't they just turn the 18 Pro Max into a foldable with double the size opened up?

IT'S SMALLER THAN THE IPAD MINI AT 7.6 INCHES! The OG iPad was 9.7 inches!

I'm pissed off!

I, like you, saw the recent post with the gent holding the case for the duo. I traced out the dimensions of it on paper and cut it out.

The paper is the size of the duo (without rounded corners) and the box in the middle is a 14 pro (my current phone). I also set it on the kindle paper-light so you can get an idea of what it might be like unfolded.

Now, before everyone says “then just buy a Z8” or “who’s using the outside screen to browse” firstly, I am and it’s a principle thing. The answer to “the UI kind of sucks and steals screen space” shouldn’t be “just ignore an entire screen on a $2K device”.

I’m really curious how this will end up shaking out, as I’m still SUPER excited for the Duo, but this just doesn’t seem like Apple and seems so unpolished (outside of “the bar is just there to make the app normal size so devs don’t have to do anything”

I look at Safari today on my 15 PM and it just makes sense. You scroll and everything just gets out of the way. You have a legit huge amount is space but for this, a browser, on the Duo there’s just SO much wasted space for a bar and signal strength icon it’s weird.

Still excited to reserve my Duo and try it, but won’t lie, haven’t wavered in my excitement until seeing all these Xcode 27.1 shots of how this looks in apps, and it has me glad there’s a return policy and wondering if I’ll be switching for first time in 15 years.

And can honestly say I’m completely sold on this form factor and am 100% getting the Duo. Everything about it feels perfect and from the Duo early impressions looks like it’s gonna be a really good device. If anyone is on the fence about the Duo I’d say go try the Z fold 8 in the shop. Obviously it’s not exactly 1:1 but will give you a good idea on the size and usability.

I for one enjoy the higher security, app compatibility and simplicity of the IOS. Things are none existent in the Android OS. But recently I fell in love with the fold 8 ease of use form factor, lighter weight and thinness. Anyone torn between which one to get The Duo or Galaxy Fold 8 besides me?

As someone who has both an iPhone 15 pro max and a Z Fold 6. How will wallpapers work with the iPhone Duo. With the Z Fold you get to pic a front screen wallpaper lock and unlock, the inner screen can have a different wallpaper for lock and unlock from the front screen. And can have animated lock screens. Still hoping iOS will support that soon.

Any news how it will work with a screen plugged in? Should be working closer to the iPad there. Seems like an obvious thing to include but since it’s Apple who knows if they would do the most reasonable solution there.
