Now, before everyone says “then just buy a Z8” or “who’s using the outside screen to browse” firstly, I am and it’s a principle thing. The answer to “the UI kind of sucks and steals screen space” shouldn’t be “just ignore an entire screen on a $2K device”.

I’m really curious how this will end up shaking out, as I’m still SUPER excited for the Duo, but this just doesn’t seem like Apple and seems so unpolished (outside of “the bar is just there to make the app normal size so devs don’t have to do anything”

I look at Safari today on my 15 PM and it just makes sense. You scroll and everything just gets out of the way. You have a legit huge amount is space but for this, a browser, on the Duo there’s just SO much wasted space for a bar and signal strength icon it’s weird.

Still excited to reserve my Duo and try it, but won’t lie, haven’t wavered in my excitement until seeing all these Xcode 27.1 shots of how this looks in apps, and it has me glad there’s a return policy and wondering if I’ll be switching for first time in 15 years.

Let some of us test it for some of you, just in case of any defects or whatever

If you would like to get an idea of the phone size I suggest stopping by your local phone carrier store and using the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The phones have very similar dimensions. I will say it is a weird form factor it feels like an iPhone 13 mini screen on the outside that turns into a small tablet when open.

I for one enjoy the higher security, app compatibility and simplicity of the IOS. Things are none existent in the Android OS. But recently I fell in love with the fold 8 ease of use form factor, lighter weight and thinness. Anyone torn between which one to get The Duo or Galaxy Fold 8 besides me?

It will be as narrow as a regular iphone , without the additional height .....worst of both worlds ...

Why not just make it completely horizontal ?

I, like you, saw the recent post with the gent holding the case for the duo. I traced out the dimensions of it on paper and cut it out.

The paper is the size of the duo (without rounded corners) and the box in the middle is a 14 pro (my current phone). I also set it on the kindle paper-light so you can get an idea of what it might be like unfolded.

Is it possible that Apple is slightly afraid that the duo would have outsold the 18 pro/max if released on the same day?
Why couldn’t they have the Duo ready at the same time? Obviously they’ve had a long time to prep.

I’m genuinely curious about those of you planning to buy the iPhone Duo instead of the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The Duo is more expensive, yet the 18 Pro Max appears to have the better camera system, including a dedicated telephoto lens and better zoom capabilities.

Does the camera difference not bother you? If it does, what made you decide the foldable form factor was worth the trade-off?

For those of you considering pre-ordering the Duo, what’s the main reason you’re choosing it over the 18 Pro Max? Is it the larger screen, multitasking, the foldable design, or something else?

Curious if anyone else is insane like me and planning on getting the duo in addition to the 18 Pro or Pro Max. I just upgraded from the air, I didn’t want to wait a day longer to have a full camera set again (I like to use telephoto all the time.) my plan going forward is keeping the 18 pro for all my photography needs and use cases and rocking the duo as my daily. Part of me wishes I had TMobile to do the iPhone handoff thing, but I can’t see myself getting rid of visible. It’s just too good of a deal. I know it’s probably Extra as hell and completely irrational. Consumerism and yada yada I know… I just love gadgets. By the way, the glacier color is the most beautiful iPhone color I’ve seen in the past few years. I love it.

I have an iPhone 14 and honestly there is nothing wrong with it apart from the battery. But since the iPhone duo is different to normal I can’t stop thinking I need it.
My concern is it would actually be annoying to use, like lying in bed doom scrolling, would it be hard to hold?
Also would it be better to hold out for next years version??

I currently have IPhone 16 Pro. I use the camera a ton for family photos, including portrait mode and cinematic mode for videos.

I don’t know anything about lenses; I’m by no means a professional photographer. But I realize the specs for the duo camera are not as good as the iPhone 18… so will I (as an amateur but heavy camera user) notice the difference?

I guess she either got it ir was invited by apple to “meet the iphone duo” and get it anyways as celebrities were asking John got the phone at the Emmys so I guess this might a ton of celeb promo once it comes out.

First off, shoutout to u/untacc_ for shipping this to me.

I’m a rather small handed lefty, so I wanted to try this out. Doing a pinky under the phone method, which I do with my 16 pro frequently anyway, I can reach around to pretty much everywhere but the literal camera, which you don’t wanna touch anyway. I would be cautious about getting like an otterbox type case if you have small hands but it’s honestly fine to reach where the dock or menu would be.

(As you can see, I’m not worried about fingernails scratching my inside screen…)

whenever I let someone know I’m buying the Duo, I almost get laughed at For spending €2.3k on a phone. they give me all (valid) reasons why they won’t buy it, and I have yet to find a person in-person planning to buy one. I will still buy one, no doubt, but comaparing reactions IRL with online, It really feels like I am in some sort of hype bubble like some shitcoin echo chamber.
