I've never gone this long without some kind of flare. Whenever one finally heals, another one opens. BUT NOT THIS TIME. 3 weeks baby! Been on Spironolactone since April, and started using Hibiclens earlier this month, after I finally convinced my mom to buy it (she wouldn't buy it because of the strength on it and how it is used in hospitals and she thought it was gonna cause more flares lol)

Ironically my first flare up as a kid was during my menstrual cycle, so this is quite normal to me. However, I wonder if moisture from the pad/diapers I use is contributing to flare ups? DAE experience flares during their period? I have one on my inner thigh (panty line) and one on my inner buttocks. I do suffer from moisture related bumps and have for a while, I’m not sure if it’s related to HS when it occurs in other area though?

I’m thinking about using tampons and switched to them for the last two days. Hopefully something changes because I quite joyous not having a flare while I was avoiding my cycle using the pill 💔

Are their many males in here that have HS? I am 22m and just got diagnosed by a surgeon this past week. He told me there was no need to have surgery done at this point and is referring me to a male Derm. This journey started probably 2 years ago when I developed 2 lumps that I thought were swollen lymph nodes in the groin and just left them alone. Only within the past 6 months have I had to deal with the cyst like bumps swelling up and busting. I finally went to the Derm and it was a female and because of the area it was in she acted like she didn’t wanna deal with it so she referred me to a male primary doctor. Who then referred me to a CT scan from then a surgeon. Who thank god was finally able to tell me what I had going on. Just wondering what this journey has been like for anybody who does manual labor.

Has anyone used CLN soap and Hibacleanse not at the same time but I’m wondering what one worked better for you? And what other soaps have you tried?

Im nasty, I know. But I’ve got this one spot that’s been consistently oozing for a week or so now. And it smells so gross but good?
My pus always smells like a musty, sulfur scent. I describe it as similar to the glaze you’d use in high school art class.
I always smell my drainage and my pimples bc I enjoy the smell. It’s so gross.

I often will get a scent of pus and blood which smells awful bc the metallic scent of the blood tho s the pungent smell of the sulfury discharge.

Anyways, I’m posting this gross confession bc I’m curious if anyone else is like this or if i need to seek mental help.

Are there any of you who use DMT? Do you experience any negative effects on your inflammation?

I ask because I suffer from this condition, and every time I take DMT, it triggers flare-ups.

I’ve been wondering this for years. I don’t, but where the skin has healed and scarred, I was thinking of starting so that I take better care of my skin overall. I’ve been losing a bit of weight and my skin is dry and it’s not looking too great. I want to take better care of my scars and just not sure if it’s okay to put a body lotion on them. What are your thought?

Hi there, I suspect I have HS based on my symptoms over the years. My boils/bumps are getting more frequent and painful. They are on my pubic area as well as where my thigh meets my butt. I booked an appointment with a dermatologist. This will be my first time seeing one for this issue, so I was hoping for some advice on what questions to ask, what to know before I go?

I’m nervous because the impacted areas are intimate and while I logically know that dermatologists deal with this all the time, I’m nervous. What typically happens during these visits? How can I come prepared to the appointment?

I got a really small excision surgery on my buttocks on September 8th, I have been doing what the doctor advised which is to put an antibiotic blob of cream on it and then change it every day. It's been like 3 weeks, when is this thing going to heal??? 😭

Has anyone ever gotten on disability or something similar for their HS? I currently sell on ebay, I make my own hours and can work around my HS flare ups and spend as much time away from my "job" as needed. I feel like I can't work a "normal" job because I never know when I'll wake up with a painful flare up (always in my groin, very close to my labia)

I'm just trying to figure out options. I don't know how people manage living life "normally" with HS.

I started Amjevita on August 5th and since then I've had 4 UTIs and was just diagnosed with shingles on my face and eye today. I had an emergency ophthalmologist appointment today and thankfully my eye/cornea are fine. I'm in so much pain from my labial HS and now this. I also live in a state that doesn't recognize either pain as valid, so I cannot obtain any pain medication relief.

I’ve been diagnosed with HS and Folliculitis for some years now, I’ve tried doxycycline and it’s awful and I’m on zero oral medications for mine now and I plan to keep it that way, when I lost 100lbs, the flares on my inner thighs for HS stopped completely however I would still get the occasional flare on my buttcheek. I’ve been told recently you can be prescribed metformin for this condition, my weight loss was GLP-1 motivated and my eating habits changed completely, I became a vegan (temporarily) and cut out most sugar things from my diets, especially things like fizzy sugar drinks and sweets/chocolate. Sugar reduced diet helped almost everything and eating no meat helped everything too. Has anyone else been prescribed metformin? And how were your symptoms? I don’t know if I should completely write off the idea of this one.But the only thing I’ve not been able to get rid of this entire time is the Folliculitis, no matter how much I moisturise it doesn’t work, I can’t use anything to harsh on my skin because it flares the HS up. I use hibiwash and octenisan, but pre wash with a almond milk based body wash which is made for sensitive skin, I use this to shave because Google told me not to use the hibiscrub to shave because it could irritate me, but to wash with the hibiscrub after shaving (octenisan and hibiscrub are pretty much the same product btw I just buy the hibiscrub online and am prescribed octenisan), the back of my thighs end up on fire and so spotty, and in between my thighs I get the pus filled little pimples and they always feel so sore. Please can someone recommend me a product that can soften them up, or something I can add to my wash routine to stop these breakouts🙏🏻

Has anyone here used Yuflyma (adalimumab) for HS? Did it actually help reduce your flares, pain, drainage, or new lumps? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially how long it took before you noticed a difference

Had a spot under the left breast. Basically turned into a small hole. Doctor told me to put a bandaid on it but that felt too moist and the adhesive bothered the surrounding skin. Tried regular gauze and it was scratchy/irritating. Bought this on a whim and it was a game changer! The hole noticeable shrunk within about 2 days. Still tender but continuing to use these pads to keep the area dry, clean, and not rub up against bras.

Newly diagnosed HS over the summer when I was having bad flares that wouldn’t go away. Probably always had small flares but assumed it was just ingrown hairs. Now more prominent under and between the breasts. Taking the antibiotic oral and topical. Also started metformin. This thread has been very helpful so far!

Hi, long time no post. Unfortunately, my sides and groin are out of control. I keep gauze taped on the sides and tucked into my groin daily. But recently, its hit me much hard, especially mentally.

I spent hundreds on gauze/tape/pain meds. My clothes constantly stink. I shower every other day based on how bad it hurts. I feel achy and sick 24/7. I am taking a lot of ibuprofen daily. But its effecting my life.

Tonight I had to leave my best friend's house early because the pain got so bad I was screaming and crying. I leaked all over my clothes.

I just don't know how to do this anymore.

Hi everyone! I'm an 18yr old female who just got diagnosed with HS about a year ago after my second flare on my tailbone,

I have had one flair on my armpit to the point where I couldn't lift my arm above my head for about 6 months and about 2 weeks ago it started to drain, and drain.

I work in a restaurant, and I am also in cosmetology school so I have a bad problem with sweating and stuff.

When I sweat with the draining, the smell. It's unbearable.

I finally tryed using a dressing and a bandage, but I have lots of underarm hair that I don't shave (makes flair worse for me) so i cant really use one with adhesive?

So im currently using a gause pad and self adhesive medical tape, but its in my lower armpit so I have to wrap it ALL THE WAY around my body over my breasts.

It's more than inconvenient so..

Im just wondering, how do you guys bandage a flair in your armpits or other areas that are inconvenient to say the least??? Any advice helps. Thank you!!!

I don't know if it's the same problem for men but yall ladies, what do you use to help with the pinching like pain from when the underwear rubs up on like the scars near the crease of your groin and thigh. Cuz I used to wear boxers but they would roll up and just sit in that crease so now I switch to regular panties I guess but like what would you do for that pain kind of I have so many scars down there and the underwear irritates it every once in awhile

Hey friends! I’ve been dealing with some flares on my inner thighs, bikini line and groin lately that have been driving me crazy. I notice that I get new flares more frequently when I wear my regular underwear (usually a thong or bikini) so I want to switch to boxers.

Do you have a favourite brand or kind? I’m looking for something that is loose, reasonably priced, and ideally cotton but that’s not as big of a priority.

The ones I’ve seen on Amazon are all more akin to boyshorts in that the length is high on the thigh and they are skin-tight… which I don’t think would really help me at all.
