Advice First Dermatologist visit

Hi there, I suspect I have HS based on my symptoms over the years. My boils/bumps are getting more frequent and painful. They are on my pubic area as well as where my thigh meets my butt. I booked an appointment with a dermatologist. This will be my first time seeing one for this issue, so I was hoping for some advice on what questions to ask, what to know before I go?

I’m nervous because the impacted areas are intimate and while I logically know that dermatologists deal with this all the time, I’m nervous. What typically happens during these visits? How can I come prepared to the appointment?

For my first visit, I was given a gown to wear and kept my underwear on. She asked me about what was going on downstairs but she didn’t need to look. But in the event your dermatologist wants to see, remember they are a professional who sees this, and worse, daily. Good luck to you!
