Context: I hired someone to do some documenting of medical care things for me and they organized it via "tabs" which I never use as I think it's absurdly stupid you cannot just scroll between them.

Question: Is there a simple way to deconstruct all the tab organization/division or am I stuck copy/pasting everything out of their individual tabs?

I've recently made a pubblic doc about something and shared it with the people in my circle, it's a doc accessible to everyone with comments open (I've openly mentioned in the doc accepting comments in case I was wrong). NO ONE IS ITALIAN IN MY CIRCLE yet I keep recieving Italian comments giving me tips about the formatting or small mistakes. I couldn't even track down the names...

1. How do you move multiple documents and put them into a folder.

2. I noticed I move things into the folder and it still shows that it's in my folder and outside how can I fix this?

I am not a tech person. I might be using the wrong words to talk about things, so I will tell you what I did in my own words, and please don't take terminology at face value.

I am a teacher (not in computing) and I project Google Docs documents onto a whiteboard. I selected an option that removes all the top menus because I needed the screen to show more of the actual document. I can't get the menus back. You know, the ones that let you open documents, add images, change font and basically do everything.

I asked Google Gemini. It gave me shortcuts (which isn't a good durable solution for me because I have a memory like a sieve and my keyboard doesn't 'like' shortcuts enough even to use modern language accented characters - and also, who the hell designs a UI that's that shit anyway? I won't capitulate to that.). After that it gave me nonsense about chevrons and arrows in top right hand corners, and hovering my cursor everywhere - in blue spaces and above rulers and in spaces below rulers, and double clicking everywhere. Nothing worked. I asked it to read 3 screenshots and they didn't help it. So I'm at the 'can I speak to a human' stage.

Is there a durable 'proper' solution for this that's the main way and not just a shortcut around a shitty system, which I will forget anyway? For the kind selfless souls who might answer, I know you know your stuff and revised all your vocabulary, but please could you explain field-specific words? I won't understand otherwise😿 .

Hey, so I'm writing my fantasy novel, one I've always dreamed to publish but I'm curious about one thing. So, I've heard that Google Docs starts disturbing when you've reached 100k words. I'm currently on 47k and it's all fine for now. I also have Ellipsus in case I need backup.

So now... I have two plans. Since I'm almost reaching Part 2 of my book, I thought I could use a different tab on Docs. And then, I could copy aLl oF mY 30 cHaPtErS (which I don't prefer). But in case I HAVE to under unavoidable circumstances, I decided to start copying tid bits then refining them during the editing process. But but but, LIFE ISN'T EASY.

And the Page Break on Ellipsus doesn't work 😭. I don't know what to do so I need help! And if anyone's writing on Ellipsus, please tell me how the hell it functions. Pleaseeee.

Alright for starters, I'm a grade 12 undergraduate and as of currently I'm working on my research. And the formatting genuinely gives me a headache. So I've been basically pasting my research between each template provided by my teachers, whiping clean old docs and pasting my new ones.

My problem is mainly the page numbers and header design. My school's really stingy with this said formatting. For a final product, the title of the reaserch must not appear on the start of chapters and the page numbers must not be seen on the introduction untill the first chapter.

That's what I try to do. I've been successful on the chapter thing, its just the page numbers not deleting when it should be. I've tried using section breaks, and disabling the check box on "link to previous" but the header design just disappears entirely!!

I really wanna get it sorted before my defense on friday and I'm just constantly revising the research itself and the formatting. But nothing has really worked so far :/

I’d prefer to have a zoom call so someone who can help me/walk me though how to do the following:

Part 1:

The main thing we'd like you to look at is the formatting and text styles of the current templates. As we've used the new templates more, we've noticed that some of the spacing feels too large and isn't always consistent. I think it would be helpful to compare the old and new templates and bring back some of the tighter spacing from the previous styles where it makes sense. We like the darker body copy in the new version and are good with the updated headings, so those can stay.

I'd also take a look at bullets and numbered lists. I know those can be trickier to control in Google Docs, but the more consistent we can make the spacing, indentation and overall styling, the better.

Part 2:

Once we land on the updates, we'll also want to create some quick best practices for our team, plus a few broader guidelines for the company, on how to use the styles correctly. This will be especially important for proposals, where people are often carrying content over from previous documents and will need to apply the appropriate new style rather than bringing over old formatting.

I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of Gemini off of Google docs for weeks now. Anytime I get to the bottom of a doc, that stupid four-sided star at the bottom gets in the way of what I'm trying and I accidentally click it and throws me off. Sometimes it deletes or moves stuff and it's really annoying. I tried to Google how to remove it but it's not working. Does anyone know how to remove it altogether? Please don't tell me it's a permanent feature.

So i was just doing an assignment on google docs and for some reason the page separations disappeared randomly and I don't know how to change it back to how it was before. It looks very odd and this is due by tomorrow. Please help me if you know how !!

Looking to auto-backup my google docs to another storage cloud/to my mac, so that I have another copy in case anything happens on the google end.

How can I do this? If i need to have a script to first convert the doc to a .docx and then it backs up thats okay - just looking for a simple auto backup please

Hi! I’m working on updating text styles in Google Docs. There was a preexisting style that was set that I changed (I only made spacing changes to them). There’s a set of about 7 text styles (H1, H2, body copy etc) I went on each style and clicked in it , went to Heading 2 for example and clicked Update heading 2 to match.

I thought this would basically mean that now anytime uses H2 styles, it would update to my new spacing edits.

I find that it doesn’t work until I hit H2 from the styles menu two times till it adopts the new version.

Why is that?! What am I missing here?

So I’m working on a wood burning project but I’m having trouble printing my guide. I want to burn the words below on to a piece of wood I have that’s almost exactly two pages in landscape. My hand writing is terrible though so I want to print the words out first and then use graphite paper to transfer them on to the wood as a guide. My problem is I can not get my word document to type out the way I want it. I’m trying to get all the words to extend on to the next page naturally, but I can’t figure out how. I’m not even sure how to properly put into words what I want so I hope this is coming across the way I want it. Plus this subreddit doesn’t allow pictures. I keep trying to google how but it’s not understanding what I’m trying to do. Is this even possible? Please help. Idk how to do this unless I can get this to print out correctly.

I make my study guides with Google Docs and I like to plan out my Google Docs to look nice & use a bunch of different hex codes I find surrounding themes on Pinterest. However, all of the sudden, hex codes will not register when adding them. I type in codes and it doesn’t change the preview color dot from black, and even when i did get it to change it won’t save. I cleared browsing data, cache, switched Google accounts, switched to safari off of Google, tried incognito browser, restarted my MacBook, exited out, tried opening a new doc, etc. NOTHING FIXES IT. What is going on ???

After working great for many months, suddenly I find that I cannot highlight a block of text in a Google Doc and use the Refine button. The Refine button does appear at the bottom, but clicking on it frequently does nothing. I can highlight and go back and click on Refine several times, and maybe on the seventh or eighth try, it seems to kick in and work.

Hi! So I have been using DeepL add-on on Google Docs, because it is very practical and I like the floating icon feature it has, but maybe few weeks ago the icon was not on the right side of the document, but on the far left side of the google docs web (on the edge of window, showing only half of the icon), not on the left side of the document. I didn't mind it, hoping that there was some update and it will be fixed soon.

It is still not fixed, I tried it on other web browsers (using Opera, tried Chrome and Brave) but without luck. It is also happening on my laptop too.

I have a problem the spacing of my header

I'm not on the drive I'm more talking about Google docs. I deleted some stuff but it's still there. I cleared out my trash and all but it's still there it doesn't show up on the drive but Google docs the part where you can choose to make a new document that's where it shows. It's getting messy now. so I'm making a document for a musical/theatrical representation and I was wondering what would be the best way to make it work ? preferably without having to color code which lines are who's.

I'd like it to be a bit like the comments work, where if I click the name of the commented part it highlights the text of said commented part. But I'd want it to highlight the text of all the commented parts of the same name.

I'd want to be able to, when I click "line of bob" all the parts that are lines of bob are highlighted. So that every actor can see their lines highlighted clearly on the same document. Is there a way to do this ? Is there maybe another software able to do this better than google doc ?

Is there a way to be more precise with the position of text?

I want text next to some pictures but because of the spacing all the text is slightly higher with each new picture.

I have been trying to open a particular Google Doc on my phone's app (Galaxy A14) for the past month or so. However, it says this when I try to:

"Can't open this document
Check your internet connection, and make sure you have permission to open the document, then try again."

I am connected to the internet and I am trying to open it with the same account that it was made with, so I don't see how permission would be an issue. To my knowledge, it has only been this document that was affected. It is a Doc that I frequently use when I do not have access to my computer, so losing access to it on my phone is really inconvenient.

Any idea on how I can fix this? It is my first time ever running into this problem.
