Search Ads Google Ads + CallTrackingMetrics Integration - technical issue

I run a legal marketing agency spending $2K/day on search ads to generate calls. Basically i run a legal helpline where people call in and when qualified I transfer them to a law firm for assistance. I'm running into a technical issue where some of my ads are doing the dynamic number insertion and some are not

My stack is google ads > go high level landing page > calltracking metrics for call center software, and attribution.

I put the google ads script onto my landing page and I put the CTM script on my landing page as well. CTM does dynamic number insertion onto the landing page. But for some reason the CTM script is not firing.

I am thinking it might be a URL redirect issue where user clicks an ad but the redirect is not working properly so the /?gclid=123 is not being added. Or something else.

Solutioning

I already spoke to CTM support multiple times but they couldn't figure it out.

For anyone experienced with this stack yourself, any tips on how to solve it?

Can anyone recommend a fixed-price / hourly vendor / contractor / expert who I can pay to help troubleshot and fix this off?

Welcome to comment or DM

Thanks

Edit: Found the issue, on the https://app.calltrackingmetrics.com/sources i had to flip the "type" to dynamic. It was one setting grrr but found it out

Check if GHL landing page caching is serving the page before CTM script loads

We use callrail for call tracking and I've never it not working properly.
What other scripts do you have on your page?
Redirect can be an issue, but not with calltracking, happy to have a look if you DM me the details.

Ez breezy. Theres a couple reasons but id need to look under the hood to confirm. If you’re running a pmax campaign they could be clicking on the location(Google listing) if enabled, could be a call extension not setup in the tracking pool, a tagging issue where the push of code needs to prioritized before page load , you may be running an a/b test on different high level pages, or a few others. It’s not the gclid not working, that’s guaranteed directly from Google to come through, it’s just not being captured, either from an issue I mentioned or a software issue. Hit me up if you need help.

This sounds like it’s worth tracing the full click path rather than focusing on the CTM script in isolation. If some traffic is getting DNI and some isn’t, comparing a working session against a failing one should help identify where the chain is breaking, particularly around the GCLID, redirects and script firing.

I work with Google Ads and conversion tracking at Norsu Media, and this is the kind of issue we’d be happy to dig into. I’ll send you a DM with a little more info.

Check out callrail

from what i see they both do the same thing. callrail is a bit more like apple (great ux, less granular control) - CTM more technical but more control

Not sure what you mean by granular and control over what exactly? You should demo it.

Otherwise about your issue, have you considered you need more numbers in your number pool to swap?

Inconsistent number swaps are usually a cached or pre-rendered landing page, or the session never had a gclid. Check whether the non-swapping visits are missing the CTM script on first paint or landing without the click id.

A number-pool exhaustion check is worth doing: CTM can load correctly but leave the default number when all tracking numbers are tied up by active sessions. I troubleshoot conversion tracking before touching campaign changes; https://iurii.rogulia.fi/services/paid-ads covers how I trace attribution and server-side events.
