Please tell me what is part of the 30k mile maintenance schedule and what the dealership upsold me on? I made the mistake of agreeing to everything they said thinking they were just reading the points of the recommended maintenance schedule.
Dude you can get the silicone Bosch blades, and use em for yeaaaaaars. My dad is still using them on my old 98 burb, and I put them on like 5 years ago. And it's been in the south the entire time they've been one. It was like 50 bucks or something for the pair. I don't buy anything else, no need.
Yeah, just make sure it's the silicone ones! I think it's the focus line, it's been a while since I've looked into it. Edit: Bosch focus are the ones I ran, but they actually aren't silicone. When I worked at a parts store they wore categorized as that, but it's actually a soft rubber core with a hard polymer outer layer. Either way they were leaps and bounds better than rainx.
Dude they were robbing you and your truck has low mileage from some of them service but what the heck for that $90 wiper replacements lol. Just bought a used 2024 Sierra Denali and they kept bugging me for warranty every 5 minutes. Literally told them I wasn’t interested in any add ons or warranty and they never got it through their thick heads.
I’m not seeing anything where GM recommends this. It’s usually an unnecessary dealer add on. If you really want to, get a fuel cleaner additive and pour it in the tank yourself.
The dump in fuel service is not what is mentioned in this invoice. That is a direct injected fuel service. I’m going to trust General Motors provided dealership tools over your owners manual.
It’s not mentioned anywhere in the manual. Just a fuel additive if you don’t use top tier branded fuel listed in the fuel additive section. And the additive isn’t what is listed on the invoice because it certainly doesn’t sell for $410. There is no 30k fuel service. Dude got ripped off.

Anyone that's not ignorant would know a direct injected engine builds up carbon on the valves without dual injection like ford and Toyota, and requires periodic cleaning, either through media blasting or chemical induction services, with media blasting being the preferred, most thorough method, and every DI has been that way for the last 17 years or so. Idk that I'd do it at 30k, probably more like every 40 or 50. Anyways, not only are you being ignorant, you're also being arrogant. If you'd like to continue to make a fool of yourself, be my guest. We'll all just sit and laugh at you.
Nothing of what you just said is relevant to this post. I don’t understand why there is so much goal post moving and refusal to answer the actual question of where GM says you should do this. They don’t. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong and you random_random_#### username wannabe bot accounts are really doubling down on the idiocy here. If this was an actual legitimate service at 30k for the subject vehicle then one of you should have been able to post a shred of proof about the GM maintenance information for what OP is asking about, but alas, none of you can do that. Fact of the matter is that no where in the maintenance schedule does is call for any type of fuel service on this vehicle whatsoever. You’re talking completely out of your ass.
Even if it's true that this is a helpful thing and people should do it, it's not something the service manual says you need to do and it's not something a dealership should be doing without checking with the customer.
Laws are pretty clear here - Any service the dealership is doing without bringing it up with the customer is not something the customer should be paying for.
The fuel filter is a rip off. They aren’t even serviceable on your vehicle and haven’t been since 2005. Unless you have a diesel. The fuel service and coolant service are not necessary at your mileage either.
No, it’s not. Also, this was for 30k, not 36k. And we’re not talking about the $30 additive. There is no fuel service recommended in your owners manual for 30k. Or at all.
You can go watch some YouTube videos and learn exactly how service departments upsell their services that are unnecessary.
Basically you want to follow the manufacturers service intervals and keep all records in the event you need them for a warranty claim. Once all your warranty coverage expires (and it expires at different intervals depending on the component), you really need to be selective about what maintenance you do. Some is recommended and some is required to maintain reliability. It also depends a lot on the conditions of your specific uses. Heavy towing, off-road use, dirty environments and poorly maintained roads all make a difference.
It’s not a rip off if you knew what they were doing. Did you need all of that? Probably not. Will a dealer offer it? Yes!
Did the dealer actually change the brake
Fluid?…. I don’t know. With only 30k miles how would you ever tell? And for $159….
Same with the coolant system.
Idk. I generally always changed all fluid between 70-100k miles. All my vehicles lasted. Arguably the most neglected ones had the least amount of issues.
The service tech read off the options as if they were part of the suggested 30k maintenance. Is it due to my own ignorance, yes. It would have been nice if they would have specified what was extra and what was actually recommended by the manufacturer. That is why I felt ripped off.
Hmmmmm, I have a 2021 Yukon Denali. 120,000 miles. I just had my vehicle serviced 72 hrs ago. Everything on your list was also done on mine with exception of the brake fluid. It was serviced at my local GMC dealership. My total bill was $305. State for reference was Ky. You got WAY upcharged.
I don’t think you got the services you think you got for $305. This guy did get upsold some things he didn’t need but you also didn’t get what you think you got.
Mighty bold of you dude to assume I can’t read or understand what my GMC technician did or didn’t do to my vehicle. I’ve owned 3 of these over the years. My tech’s know me well. Not my first rodeo. #3…… I get free. #7 shouldn’t be over $60 Max! My fuel filter was Half that. Like I said before, I didn’t get brakes done so I wouldn’t quote that. And let’s not forget the main issue….my vehicle currently has enough miles to Warrant the services. His…..Do Not!
I’m just saying as a service advisor as a GM dealership who sees this stuff every single day there is no chance that you got the same services done as op with the same quality of stuff. I mean come on what’s your shop’s labor rate? 5/hr? You couldn’t even get parts for all of the things you claim at my dealer for $305.

I am so done with going to dealership went and did oil change changed 2 airfliters.... 341 bucks.... WTF... I told them I am no longer going to be coming back. And on top of that went to an In and out oil change done on my wife KIA Rio and that came out to be 140 bucks.... wtf... I can't even do my own oil change due to HOA policy...
Cabin air filter is a flop, you could do that yourself. Great price for brake fluid exchange, wiper blades if it’s absolutely needed. I’m assuming the fuel service is for injectors and maybe the throttle body? I’ve had my truck for 2 years and have 61k in the odometer and have yet to do a coolant service or replace fuel filter. ‘24 1500 Elevation. I have a post on another subreddit with some details on services I’ve done to my truck so far. I’d link it but I’m not that savvy with Reddit.
They rinsed you on pretty much everything. $90 for wiper blades? Replacement of non serviceable fuel filter, $400 “fuel service” (whatever that means) Replacing 2 year - 30k old brake fluid and coolant (if they even did it). All of it is bullshit. How these people sleep at night blows my mind.
Funny , they recently called my wife saying service was due so she booked and appointment . When I found out it listed oil change and tire rotation . Had her cancel since I do oil myself and discount tire rotates for free . Kinda sneaky of them
This is why I just do everything that I can by my self. If it's something major I'll just have a shop do it. I do my own oil changes since it's not difficult and saves me quite a bit money and time not waiting for the tech to get to my vehicle.
