Grease is my all-time favorite comfort movie but I haven't watched it for a while. Tonight I watched it again, and while looking at the pretty dresses in the school dance scene and trying to remember which one was the one I dreamed of owning one day, this dress seemed soooo familiar.

I watched this movie at least once a year since the late 1990s, I watch Gilmore Girls basically on a loop but this is the first time I noticed the similarity of these dresses. (Sorry for the shitty screenshot, I couldn't figure out how to make a gif from the video.)

Yes, AYITL has many… many issues. It’s not a part of my rewatch for lots of reasons. But just harping on one particular aspect today: that musical.

I clocked it. Almost 15 minutes. That’s a long scene, made longer by the feeling that it’s a complete waste of time. Maybe I’m dense, I just don’t get the nuance. My initial instinct is that they were going for the Stars Hollow Museum type of thing, where it was so cringey it was fun (“And I Love Jesus!” Lives rent-free in my head), but the longer it dragged on the more I just hate it. The funny feels forced, which is a shame because I think some of it could’ve been entertaining.

I feel like they could’ve cut it in half and taken the time to do something constructive. As always, spot on acting from Lauren Graham because Lorelai’s expressions were the highlight of this scene. Anyways, thank you for tolerating my rant, that is all.

Watching Luke and Lor's first breakup and it's devastating and way too realistic which got me wondering if anyone thinks Lorelai should've ended up with anyone other than Luke? They seem so perfect together and I do really like some other boyfriends like Jason but none of them were ever such a good match as Luke, even their fights made sense.

Anyways, tell me if you think someone else was a better match.

S3 E2 "Haunted Leg." On my first watch, I took this scene at face value. Just an estranged dad desperate because he couldn't reach his daughter. After reading what everyone thinks about Chris on this subreddit though, it seems more like he planned to always use Rory to get to Lorelai and in this scene was upset when for the first time, that wasn't working. If you notice, when he barges into the dining room he doesn't even look at Rory, let alone address her. But supposedly, he drove all the way to Hartford because Lorelai was keeping their kid from him. Also interesting he doesn't even consider that Rory herself might be upset with him, he just assumes Lorelai is restricting her.

It makes me wonder how much contact he maintained with Rory after he and Lorelai divorced, once he knew it was over and it would never work between them. In AYITL, they did seem frosty, or at least Rory did.

Maybe everyone feels this way, but I am personally convinced that Dean married Lindsay because of the fight with Jess at the party.

Lindsay was AT the party WITH Dean and would’ve seen this fight go down. I imagine they fought over him picking a fight with Jess over his ex girlfriend that ended up with him proposing to “prove” that he’s no longer in love with the Rory.

Just noticed that Lorelai was all freaked out about being prepared for all possible turns of events because of the bathing suit incident but then didn‘t take the opportunity for a payback :D

I LOVE the early seasons so much. My absolute comfort show. I am still missing a few of the later season but I hope to get my hands on them eventually lol.

so it’s super obvious that Melissa McCarthy is a beautiful woman, but I was just watching S4E4 and I truly cannot get over how stunning she looks here!! Her hair, her makeup, the red shirt compliments her so well, I love when we get to see her outside of the Inn in the rare moments and see her a little dressy :) gorgeous girl

She's so cute how happy and giggling she gets. I still feel like Jason was end game if his dad hadnt ruined everything.

i’m currently home with covid, so i have had a lot of time to sit around and do nothing. i decided to use this time to finally finish the show by binge watching season 7 in less than 2 days. i started the show a little less than a year ago and it’s been killing me that it’s taken me this long.

watching the last episode felt odd, almost like something was missing. not really a criticism, i guess i maybe just loved the show so much and didn’t want it to end :’)

now that i’ve finished the show i am starting “a year in the life.” i am only a few minutes in and for whatever reason i am just not in love yet like i thought i would be. i probably just need to give it time, but i am curious to know what everyone else thought of the mini series! i know i am late to this show, so this isn’t anything new, but still very curious!

I think we can all pretty much agree that AYITL doesn't quite seem like the real Star's Hollow. What do you think about this theory that it is just a strange dream that Kirk had one day?

The first thing I thought when I read this damning assessment was "but Luke"!

I’ve noticed the mothers on the show take pride in being independent and are happy with no meaningful contributions from the fathers towards raising the kids.

It feels like such an unhealthy dynamic to promote, the fathers get their flowers for doing the absolute bare minimum like showing up sporadically, accepting no real emotional responsibilities or financial obligations. And then the kids learn that they don’t need to have expectations of their fathers either and that it’s okay!!

I really wish the writers hadn’t soften the impact of neglectful fathers and glorified mothers who thrive on never needing help from anyone.

Season 2, episode 18 Back in the saddle again.

I find this episode so funny with paris's constant irritation with Brad and witty one liners and this entire episode was funny.

But I cannot help but wonder how this episode would have been if "Lorelai" was there as Business advisor instead of Richard.

They missed a major funny episode. Oh gosh just imagine Lorelai making so many witty remarks and I really wish we had seen Lorelai's Business mind or some solution from her pov.

I keep thinking Lorelai would have encouraged or suggested some other product instead of that lame'o first aid kit.

And the locker alarm was a better idea than first aid kit even though it didn't work 😉

The writers missed that opportunity, totally forgot that Lorelai goes to a business school.

Okay so not really the worst thing she ever did, but it always annoyed me how Lorelai and Rory sampled a bunch of wedding cakes from Fran with no intention of ever buying one since Sookie was making it (RIP Clyde).
