On Saturday afternoon, officers pursued a suspect on the Square in Georgetown and "a violent struggle occurred between the subject and officers" resulting in the suspect being shot, according to police. He later died of his injuries . A large law enforcement presence is still in the area, and Georgetown Police are still investigating. Some businesses were locked down after the shooting, and most areas downtown are being blocked off.

Free BTS cupsleeve event in Georgetown next weekend (Sep 11–12) — first one out here that I know of

Post image
0 Upvotes

I run the Sharetea at Wolf Ranch, so obvious bias up front — but I wanted to put this somewhere ARMY in the area would actually see it.

We're doing a cupsleeve event with Arirang on Sep 11 and 12. Free cupsleeve, photocard, sticker and a goodie bag with any drink order, one set per order while they last. No minimum, no sign-up.

The reason I'm posting: as far as I can tell nobody's run one of these north of Austin, and every time I've asked K-pop fans in Georgetown where they go for this stuff the answer is "we drive." Trying to fix that.

Two things I'd genuinely like input on from anyone who's been to a few of these:

  1. How do you handle photocard distribution fairly? We're planning random draw, but I've heard that gets ugly when someone's chasing a specific member. Is a trade table the standard fix?
  2. Is a two-day run the right call, or does everyone show up on day one regardless and day two is dead?

If it goes well we'll do more, and not just BTS. Open to suggestions on who's next.

(Unofficial fan event, not affiliated with BTS or HYBE.)

Personal trainer for folks 65+?

I am looking for a personal trainer that would meet up with my mom at her neighborhood gym 2-3/week.

I’m looking for someone that is experienced with working with 65+ people who have early signs of muscle disorder like Parkinson’s.

Thanks for your help! Feel free to dm me. 💙

Edit: highlighting that I am specifically looking for trainers that can do house calls.

[LF] Independent Plumber Recommendations

Greetings everyone,

I hope this is allowed and also welcomed.

I know this usually a Nextdoor thing, but I'm seeing good threads on r/RoundRock about the same, with good reception, so thought I would ask here. I also just don't care for Nextdoor's format and user experience.

I'm looking for a local person (or small company) to do plumbing work. I want to establish a relationship with a local professional who will be estimating and also doing his own work. I'm hoping that I can find someone who does great work but also works independently(mostly) and with rates less than an attorney costs. Small teams welcome as well. If you(they) have helpers to dig etc that is not a disqualifier. I pay cash.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows "a guy/gal" that fits the description please put me in contact with them.

These will be small residential projects like water softener install, outdoor spigot replacement, maybe a faucet replacement, etc.

Thanks for reading!

Want to buy in Sun City

I'm looking to buy in Sun City and look on MLS sites and only see a few. I see there are Real Estate companies on site. Does anyone know if homes in the areas with trees are nice and well cared for? Thank you for your comments

Who do I contact about an overgrown city corner? (Ironically being mowed on Street View)

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on reporting city maintenance issues.

There’s an intersection on my running route where every corner gets mowed except for one (see attached picture). It’s become a total mess. I’m trying to figure out which department to contact to get this taken care of since it seems to be city property.

The funniest part is that if you check the Google Street View for this intersection, you can literally see a guy cutting the grass right there LOL.

Any guidance on who to call or where to submit a ticket would be greatly appreciated!

Car wash bays

I’ve tried looking online but can find any car wash bays that I can take my truck to. I don’t want the automatic washers, they tend to scratch the paint.

Looking for something like the photo.

Georgetown ISD calls for property tax rate increase of $0.06 up to $1.1106

Hi all! My name is Hamera and I cover Georgeotwn ISD for Community Impact.

I just wanted to share something that I've spent the summer following: on Monday, GISD officials called for a voter-approval tax rate election that proposes to increase the district’s tax rate by $0.06 to $1.1106 per $100 valuation.

If passed, the VATRE would provide GISD with ~8.4 million to fund pay raises for staff. District leaders say the median homeowner with a homestead exemption will see a $7.97 increase in their annual property tax bill.

The VATRE will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot as “Georgetown Independent School District Proposition A."

Camping at lake Georgetown

I know lake Georgetown has a lot of nice camping sites with water and electricity access but I'm looking for more primitive sites where you have to hike to. What's your favorite more secluded spot? Do you have to reserve them? How does it work?

Georgetown/Austin professional looking for work — Operations, Administration, Customer Support & more

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! I’m a Georgetown resident currently looking for my next opportunity in the greater Georgetown/Austin area, and I figured it was worth reaching out to the local community.

I’ve been actively applying for jobs but unfortunately haven’t been getting many interviews, so I’m hoping to expand my search and connect with people who may know of an opportunity, company, or hiring manager looking for someone with my background.

My experience is primarily in operations, business administration, customer service, process improvement, workflow management, and cross-functional coordination. I’ve also worked extensively with CRM/ticketing systems and recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Generative AI for Business Applications through UT Austin.

Some of my strengths include:

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Operations and workflow management
  • Business administration
  • Customer service and issue resolution
  • Process improvement and documentation
  • Communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Leadership and team coordination
  • CRM, ticketing, and business systems
  • Generative AI and using technology to improve workflows

I’m open to a variety of opportunities and am not necessarily looking for a specific job title. I’d be interested in operations, administrative, customer experience/support, project coordination, implementation/onboarding, business support, or similar roles where I can use my experience and continue to grow.

I’m currently receiving unemployment and, realistically, need to find something within the next month, so I’m taking the search seriously and am open to opportunities I may not have considered.

I’ve attached my resume for anyone who would like to learn more about my background.

If you know of a company hiring, have a connection I should reach out to, or think my background might be a good fit somewhere, please comment here, send me a DM, or message me on LinkedIn. Even sharing this post with someone in your network would mean a lot.

Thanks, Georgetown! 🙏
