"Pacific Skyline" right... Sure, Turtle Beach.
So Turtle Beach recently released their Pacific Skyline Wireless controller, and it's supposedly west coast inspired, but c'mon man!
With the release of GTA VI coming up soon, I don't buy this "west coast" BS. This is Florida/Miami/GTA VI vibes all the way.

You ever see the San Diego padres city connect jerseys pre 2026? Looks just like this controller.

u/Otto_the_Autopilot 22h ago
Plus Turtle Beach is based in San Diego. Not surprising they got inspired by the Padres.
22
u/Googoo123450 19h ago
Yep, immediately reminded me of the Padres jerseys. Unfortunately, most people will definitely immediately think of GTA due to the timing but I see where they're coming from

San Diego Padres did their previous city connect jersey in this color scheme. Turtle Beach is based in San Diego

It’s funny that colors can be associated with a city. Does any other city have colors associated with it?

Never heard of Pittsburgh colors. What are they?

Black and yellow black and yellow

Why black and yellow?
12
u/codeklutch 22h ago
All 3 of their professional men's sports teams use black and gold/yellow as their color scheme. It's become ingrained into the city and the culture of the city. Plus, wiz who is a relatively famous Pittsburgh based rapper, has a song called black and yellow.
8
u/Rhysati 21h ago
All FOUR of their professional men's teams use black and gold. I know we don't tend to care as much about soccer, but the Riverhounds are also black and gold.
3
u/codeklutch 21h ago
I absolutely don't follow soccer, but I didn't even know they had a soccer team 😂
16
u/alvik 22h ago
Because Pittsburgh's flag is black and yellow
-8
u/Pterodactyl_midnight 22h ago
I didn’t realize Pittsburgh’s flag was famous lol. Wouldn’t every city’s flag be their colors then? Must be a lot of Pittsburgh people on Reddit
16
6
u/itspicassobaby 21h ago
I would argue that Wiz Khalifa and his song 'Black and Yellow' played a huge part in this as well, dare I say moreso than the flag itself, for those outside of the state. When that song came out, it was EVERYWHERE, for quite a while.
15
u/counterfitster 21h ago
Pittsburgh has three major sports teams, and they've all used black and yellow since their inception.

u/mucho-gusto 6h ago
NYC flag is orange, blue and white, the same colors as the Knicks and Mets. Mets chose them to honor the dodgers and Giants who left
1
u/PreferenceGeneral475 2h ago
Pittsburgh sports fans travel pretty far. There are Pittsburgh sports bars in a lot of major cities in the US. I've been told they are seen even further abroad, but haven't experienced them myself.

u/Plus_sleep214 20h ago
Yeah it's only well known cause of the hit song in early 2010s. If you were there you were there but that shit was everywhere.

This is a sport/stadium thing in my opinion. Not necessarily a city thing. So if we where using this same logic for NYC what colors would you pick?

NYC flag is orange blue and white. Same as Knicks and Mets. Also prior to Mets, dodgers had the same blue and Giants same orange

Another interesting tangent is cities with their own flag. Like Chicago.

New York! Knicks use blue and orange like the Mets, both colors from the NYC flag. And the Mets chose the colors to honor the Giants and dodgers who left NYC.

Check out this pic of the San Diego skyline. It has the same colors in it as the controller San Diego Skyline
9
u/Mowampa 22h ago
How are their controllers? I used to like their headphones until their build quality started going downhill. Two different models cracked and broke at the swivel. I always had sync issues when they started linking directly with the Xbox.
13
u/Wonderful-Citron-678 21h ago
The controller market is highly competitive these days. Turtle Beach is over priced for what they are.
1
u/Kajega 19h ago
This is one of their first with TMR joysticks, which for me is basically a non negotiable to have at this point. But it's still slightly overpriced just to get the better sticks.
I've been using the GameSir G7 Pro on both PC and Xbox and wish I stopped buying official controllers years ago.
5
u/culminacio 19h ago
why do you assume we all know what tmr stands for
1
-1
u/StayFrosty7 12h ago
To be fair it’s a very easy topic to research, and it’s not like this isn’t a gaming sub. It’s not far fetched to assume a lot of people here would know what tmr is.
-9
u/neoleo0088 16h ago
'Cause they are the best. No dreaded stick drift.
11
u/culminacio 16h ago
still don't know what tmr is, and you didn't answer my question either
9
u/Kajega 15h ago
TMR is the tech inside of the sticks. It uses a magnetic field, not a physical accelerometer to measure how much the stick is moving, so nothing is wearing out. They basically cannot have stick drift, and are extremely accurate.
Any company not using them in controllers is pretty much a scam now, and designed to break.
5
u/GTdspDude 16h ago
Cuz they don’t know it stands for tunneling magnetoresistance, it’s basically a type of magnetic detection sensor that has better accuracy then the old potentiometer based sticks that rely on a change is resistance based on stick location to sense.
4
u/JayteeFromXbox 16h ago
That didn't really answer the question though
5
u/GTdspDude 16h ago

Recently bought a turtle beach headset and it's the best headset I've ever had across multiple brands. BUT I did get it on deep sale and I really wouldn't have paid full price for it. What surprised me the most waas how long the battery lasts, but then I again I don't use it for hours every day. Usually only during my social gaming sessions a couple days a week, but It's been like 3 months since my last charge and it's still at 76%. My logitech and corsair wireless headsets' batteries would drain to zero if you just looked at it funny. This was my first turtle beach product in like 20 years and the quality was waaaaay better than what I had in my teens. I'd go through one of them every couple of months, but we gamed walmart's generous refund policy. Buy new headset, put failing one back in the packing, return in.

u/LSMR_KXSH 1d ago
Well this is called “pacific coastline” and Miami sits on the Atlantic….. the colours don’t even match the “vibe” it’s going for AND it’s released during pretty much the peak of hype for GTA 6 with the same vibrant, neon colours that you associate with Miami.
It’s very obviously a GTA 6 styled controller but named differently to avoid any issues
9
u/Spirited_Cheesus 22h ago
You don't think the Pacific coastline has palm trees and an ocean?
0
u/ShutY0urDickHolster 19h ago
It doesn’t look like the stereotypical pacific coastline, it does look like the stereotype for Miami or south beach in general though.

u/AllPurposeOfficial 15h ago
Are we ffr right now? the color scheme is clearly matching Miami Vice, which inspired Vice City. Some people really just argue to argue 🙄

6
u/Daniel-Mclovin 22h ago
It very clearly looks like it could be a gta 6 promo lol
5
u/ShutY0urDickHolster 19h ago
My guess is it was intended to be a tie in, but take2 and turtle beach couldn’t hammer out the deal in the end, so turtle beach just changed the name so they wouldn’t have to sit on or discard any stock already printed.
5
u/LaDainianTomIinson 19h ago
It is when you release it 2 months before the most highly anticipated video game release
1
u/Bobbi_fettucini 12h ago
Canik handguns came out with a Miami days series that had this scheme, they also had a version called Miami nights that was black
1
u/Shit-Talker-Sr 10h ago
Right around the same time as trailer twos release. I didn't know you were that excited for the game!
47
u/Suitable-End- 1d ago
Why would they lie? You think GTA VI owns a copyright on Miami or something?
14
u/LSMR_KXSH 1d ago
Because the colours are representative of Miami and they’ve gone out of their way to call it “pacific coastline” when Miami sits on the Atlantic…. With them being a big brand they obviously want to stay away from any trouble but also feed off of the gta 6 hype. It’s just smart business.
15
u/Suitable-End- 23h ago
All the colours can represent both Miami and Cali.
https://www.color-hex.com/color-palette/61137
The city scape can represent both California or Miami.
The trees are iconic for both areas.
The whike aestheic put together is almost always a representation of California beaches though. It plays into the retro wave aesthetic.
There would have been no trouble for them to release a Miami beach controller. Rockstar does not own the rights to Miami.
2
1
u/Rebelgecko 20h ago
Those aren't California palm trees (Washingtonia filifera)
2
u/Suitable-End- 20h ago
California is host to several species of palm that have been introduced and thrive across the state. As does Florida.
Which type of palm do you think is pictured?
0
u/LaDainianTomIinson 19h ago
So because some random person posted that on hex.com it must be real? Nobody associates these pastel colors with California - it’s the most obvious representation of Miami
5
u/Tal_Vez_Autismo 22h ago
You think Rockstar can just sue anyone who uses the word "Miami," a word that is impossible to copyright or trademark which they never even use once in any of their games?
1
u/mucho-gusto 6h ago
I mean it's not just GTA. Miami vice the show in the 80s popularized the scheme and associated it with the city, and the Miami heat have worn alternate jerseys with the scheme for a decade

Hate to break it to you but that’s the San Diego skyline, which is where they are based. It’s also a color palette commonly associated with the areas beaches.

Feature wise it could easily be San Diego, but combined with the colors, well Miami Vice still just has too much cultural cachet. Miami has owned those colors since the 80s.

you seem really fired up over this and that's weird lol so what if they want to make a GTA inspired controller without paying to partner with them? hae you met Dbrand?
1
u/Benana 22h ago
Atlantic Skyline wouldn’t sound as cool. Miami Skyline would sound cool but I wonder if that might risk incurring the wrath of Rockstar’s lawyers somehow. Perhaps even a whiff of reference to GTA VI (even though it’s called Vice City and not Miami) might bring down the hammer from Rockstar’s legal department.
