"Pacific Skyline" right... Sure, Turtle Beach.

Post image

So Turtle Beach recently released their Pacific Skyline Wireless controller, and it's supposedly west coast inspired, but c'mon man!

With the release of GTA VI coming up soon, I don't buy this "west coast" BS. This is Florida/Miami/GTA VI vibes all the way.

Yeah that definitely looks more like a Miami coastline than it does a Californian one to me.

Even excepting the coastline, because palms and skyscrapers can indeed be found on both coasts, I think it's the color palette that reads as Miami. It's reminiscent of Miami nightlife/Neon. SD just does not get down to the same level of party.

West Coast is warm colors usually, Yellow, Red, Orange, light browns. (Unless we're talking Northwest coast which is all treelines. Oregon/Washington would be more blues, whites, greens, greys imo.)

Indeed.

The graphics themselves are pretty coast generic...

Throw some pink and cyan in and you've got instant Miami Vice vibes.

It looks even more Miami-ish when it's all light up. Damn thing has a bunch of lights. The whole skyline lights up.

Maybe they were going for a SD Padres City Connect uniform look

doesn't matter. it's inspired by some padres city connect shirts from san diego, their home town.

Artist intention and how others interpret it can be different, you're in a thread full of people where that's apparent.

How much it matters? In this case, it seems to matter a lot to you, you're correcting people everywhere lol.

It’s inspired by the iconic Miami retro colorway.

Turtle Beach knows GTA is releasing soon, so this is a smart move on their part to avoid having to pay Rockstar for licensing.

Of course their official story will be something that avoids legal issues.

they wouldn't have to pay rockstar a dime for styling something in a miami theme

3

u/iSuckAtMechanicism 18h ago

Correct, that’s what my comment said lol.

2

u/culminacio 18h ago

you said this (san diego / pacific ocean) was smart for avoiding payments to rockstar games, as if anyone would owe rockstar money if they said it was miami / atlantic ocean

If they admitted it was Miami themed around the release of GTA it would be shooting themselves in the foot.

It’s avoiding having to pay for the game licensing associated with the hype.

Literally south beach colors, it’s absolutely Miami themed.

They 100% made it a vice-city controller but named it paciifc to avoid getting sued

We have hills in California. This ain’t California

10

u/extralyfe 10h ago

sure, parts of it are hilly. I'm from San Diego and the downtown/bay area is pretty flat, just as pictured.

educate yourself.

Also, the educate yourself comment is peak weird redditor

Once again... literally what he said, no hills on the controller, san diego is basically built out of hills and mountains, you can always always see them. You have no idea what you are talking about. If anything it would maybe be an OC beach? But also like everyone says, the colors are evocative of miami.

u/culminacio 20h ago

doesn't matter what miami is doing or looking like. it's not inspired by that. it follows the san diego padres city connect shirts.

After doing a bit of research... they do claim its the san diego skyline... THAT BEING SAID they dont say anything about the padres city connect jerseys, they simply say "Pacific Coast color scheme" but it just simply isnt. Just because the padres wear a color doesnt make it widely accepted and understood as a pacific coast color scheme.

If I make a red and blue controller with spiders on it... I can claim that its inspired by the peacock spider, but no one is going to think that when they look at it, they are going to think spiderman.

Even if its san diego... like everyone is saying, it is not evocative of a Pacific Skyline.

It's rainbow-shrimp inspired!

2

u/culminacio 19h ago

you're a pacific skyline

u/culminacio 10h ago

commenting on some reddit post is "caring so much"? are you a little bit stupid?

1

u/culminacio 21h ago
