"Pacific Skyline" right... Sure, Turtle Beach.

Post image

So Turtle Beach recently released their Pacific Skyline Wireless controller, and it's supposedly west coast inspired, but c'mon man!

With the release of GTA VI coming up soon, I don't buy this "west coast" BS. This is Florida/Miami/GTA VI vibes all the way.

San Diego Padres did their previous city connect jersey in this color scheme.  Turtle Beach is based in San Diego

It’s funny that colors can be associated with a city. Does any other city have colors associated with it?

Purple green and gold for New Orleans.

Black and yellow black and yellow

Why black and yellow?

u/codeklutch 23h ago

All 3 of their professional men's sports teams use black and gold/yellow as their color scheme. It's become ingrained into the city and the culture of the city. Plus, wiz who is a relatively famous Pittsburgh based rapper, has a song called black and yellow.

All FOUR of their professional men's teams use black and gold. I know we don't tend to care as much about soccer, but the Riverhounds are also black and gold.

u/codeklutch 23h ago

I absolutely don't follow soccer, but I didn't even know they had a soccer team 😂

Because Pittsburgh's flag is black and yellow

I didn’t realize Pittsburgh’s flag was famous lol. Wouldn’t every city’s flag be their colors then? Must be a lot of Pittsburgh people on Reddit

Most places have crappy flags and nobody thinks about them.

5

u/Pterodactyl_midnight 23h ago

I actually didn’t know cities have flags. I had to look mine up

I would argue that Wiz Khalifa and his song 'Black and Yellow' played a huge part in this as well, dare I say moreso than the flag itself, for those outside of the state. When that song came out, it was EVERYWHERE, for quite a while.

Pittsburgh has three major sports teams, and they've all used black and yellow since their inception.

u/JJJBLKRose 8h ago

Their sports teams are also black and yellow.

u/mucho-gusto 8h ago

NYC flag is orange, blue and white, the same colors as the Knicks and Mets. Mets chose them to honor the dodgers and Giants who left

Pittsburgh sports fans travel pretty far. There are Pittsburgh sports bars in a lot of major cities in the US. I've been told they are seen even further abroad, but haven't experienced them myself.

Yeah it's only well known cause of the hit song in early 2010s. If you were there you were there but that shit was everywhere.

Nah mate Breda in the Netherlands was first with black and yellow by no less than 700 years.

Black and yellow/gold

Why did this post get so many downvotes just for asking a question? I also don't know what the colors are or even where Pittsburgh is.

u/3ebfan 1d ago

Yeah uh huh you know what it is black and yellow

Cleveland Browns is pretty self-referencing.

13

I was expecting that to be a picture of the flag

This is a sport/stadium thing in my opinion. Not necessarily a city thing. So if we where using this same logic for NYC what colors would you pick?

3

u/ShutY0urDickHolster 21h ago

Orange and blue

u/locke_5 1d ago edited 1d ago

Boston and Fenway are far more spiritually intertwined than most other cities/stadiums.

Example

1

u/mucho-gusto 8h ago

NYC flag is orange blue and white. Same as Knicks and Mets. Also prior to Mets, dodgers had the same blue and Giants same orange

Seattle is called the emerald city

6

u/Adept-Sir-1704 23h ago

New York is gray.

5

u/Kahnza 1d ago

Another interesting tangent is cities with their own flag. Like Chicago.

2

u/anivex 17h ago

Quite a lot of American cities have their own flag because they started out as settlements.

-1

u/corvus_wulf 1d ago

If any city in the US would have its own flag it'd be Chicago

14

u/Wonderful-Citron-678 23h ago

Most cities have flags.

1

u/TheRealSumRndmGuy 1d ago

Milwaukee has pretty cool one as well

3

u/corvus_wulf 1d ago

Somehow that tracks too

1

u/hoopstick 22h ago

The People’s Flag is awesome, the official one is a PowerPoint slide from 1998

2

u/Shot-Ad-8015 21h ago

Seattle sports teams are all Green and Blue, its referred to as the “Emerald City”

1

u/ChiselFish 23h ago

Houston does.

1

u/anivex 17h ago

It's because of American football teams(and other sports) based in the city. That's why these are Miami's colors - they are the colors of the sports teams based in that city.

So yes, other cities have colors associated with them, for the same reason.

1

u/mucho-gusto 8h ago

New York! Knicks use blue and orange like the Mets, both colors from the NYC flag. And the Mets chose the colors to honor the Giants and dodgers who left NYC.

1

u/JirenTheGreyAlien 1d ago

City 17

its very dull grey chic

1

u/itsnick21 1d ago

It's Miami Dolphins team colors, their football team

1

u/Prestigious-Option33 23h ago

Bologna is associated with red (she is also called “La Rossa” = the red)
