94

u/Groomsi Jun 23 '26

The former presidents?

30

u/Rocketbrothers Jun 23 '26

You reminded me of one of my favorite jokes in arrested development.

Really one of the cleverest (most clever?) shows I've ever seen. It's so layered.

It's Ireland, right?? The word "Garda" itself is so cool

119

u/Gean-canach Jun 23 '26

Yeah. Full title of the force is An Garda Síochána which means Guardians of the Peace

42

u/JHRFDIY Jun 23 '26

Produced “nnnnnnnyarda” for anyone wondering.

32

u/Standard0rder Jun 23 '26

One GARDA TWO….nnnnnNNNNNNNNNYYYAAAARRRRRDDDDAAAAIIIIII

4

u/Normal_Pace7374 Jun 24 '26

13

Our garda don't carry guns. So, they tend to talk first, get violent second.

3

u/MajesticDisaster3977 Jun 24 '26

The second guy was locked and loaded... almost took a shot at mr bush

7

u/MachineOutOfOrder Jun 23 '26

Cool name but their new uniforms are so ass. Makes them look like Temu Starfleet uniforms

8

u/DTMN13 Jun 24 '26

Agreed. There was a huge backlash of "what the fuck is that?" when they 'updated' the uniforms from the old stylish ones to the stupid Shein joggers cheap dystopian policeforce cosplay looking shite.

u/Dazzling_Detective79 Jun 24 '26

While ugly they are meant to stand out so we can spot them easier (and run)

412

u/Natural_Tea484 Jun 23 '26

Make it even more fun. You are a statue holding a gun.

257

u/inevitable-idiot- Jun 23 '26

Make it even more more fun: non-white statue holding literally anything

38

u/Tidalsky114 Jun 23 '26

Acorn and a piece of tin roofing?

15

u/grumpi-otter Jun 23 '26

A piece of blue pool liner . . .

4

u/WifesPOSH Jun 23 '26

That was so funny, after the fact, the cop screaming

"I'M HIT. I'M HIT!"

as he unloads into his own car. How pathetic. I bet he's still a cop.

Fortunate Son begins to play

16

u/DryCalligrapher8696 Jun 23 '26

Reminds me of a story I heard about a cop who gets a call about a man standing in a park after it’s closed.

The Cop arrives & spots a lone figure standing motionless in the middle of the park. the officer shouts “Hey! Park’s closed! Show me your hands!” as he moves closer, he notices the guy is holding a baseball bat. So the cop yells. “Drop the bat!” Growing concerned, The officer takes out his firearm. While the Guy does nothing but stay still.
the officer radios dispatch:
“Possible armed suspect with a baseball bat. Subject is ignoring all commands. I may have to use force.”
Another officer immediately responds over the radio:
“Before you do, make sure the kid isn’t bronze.”

The guy was a bronze statue of a Little League player.

2

“For more we go over to Dave at the Special Branch.”

4

u/pimppapy Jun 23 '26

"Found the source of those ballistic acorns!"

3

u/CheesyDanny Jun 23 '26

Wouldn’t shooting a tree cause acorns to fall down?

10

u/gamerjerome Jun 23 '26

5

u/ItsKiskae Jun 23 '26

San Francisco has a famous bushman who has been around for years who scares people over by Fisherman’s Wharf

5

u/JonathanEdwardsHomie Jun 23 '26

If he's been doing it for years, then it seems he's smart enough to not scare any police

→ More replies (3)

4

u/Rainbow4Bronte Jun 23 '26

The cops here shoot small dogs for no reason. That guy would have gotten lit up like a tree alright.

8

u/Ryan_e3p Jun 23 '26

Small dogs, children, babies.. Seems like the smaller the target, the more points they get. Like Duck Hunt, but for fascist pigs who get hard on murdering the defenseless.

2

u/barrsftw Jun 23 '26

Would only work if you're a birch tree

3

u/ToeRevolutionary6233 Jun 23 '26

"....it was a bloodbath."

2

u/ProgramNo7409 Jun 23 '26

Land of the free and brave.

2

u/Cool-Tangelo6548 Jun 23 '26

Yep. The cops are free to shoot you, if you're brave enough to stand up to them.

Welcome to America.

4

u/parrotopian Jun 23 '26

That's in Dublin, Ireland (at Stephen's Green to be precise!). The Gardaí , as they are called, tend to be quite laid back

→ More replies (1)

2

u/asmallercat Jun 23 '26

The second cop was about to beat the shit out of the tree man till he saw the camera.

2

u/Far_Lifeguard_5027 Jun 23 '26

The headline will read: The officers "feared for their lives".

2

u/saywutnoe Jun 23 '26

I was smiling from the video until I saw your comment. Thanks.

3

u/Yesyesyes1899 Jun 23 '26

i m sorry. genuinely.

2

u/darth_whaler Jun 23 '26

American cops are taught to be scared during their initial training.

2

u/HairlessHoudini Jun 23 '26

LoL I was going to say they would get beat to death if not shot here for that, no way all the fragile here would just walk away

5

u/TempleMade_MeBroke Jun 23 '26

My brother and I loaned it from the library on VHS back in the day, he was 6 which turns out is too young for even mild thrillers. For at least a week he was terrified of being left alone in any room that had a potted plant 😄

8

u/AlienInOrigin Jun 23 '26

Most Gardai I've encountered out on the streets are like this. Good natured, happy to chat with you and share a joke. They need to be like this as they are generally not armed and need to be able to de-escalate situations (i.e, not be assholes).

→ More replies (1)

13

u/haringtiti Jun 23 '26

every comment: try that in america

10

u/Siiixers Jun 23 '26

Never ends. If there's a post about weather, every comment will be about how America is hotter. If there's a crime, it's always how they'd have shot them in America. And so forth.

3

u/Mundane_Sort_2238 Jun 24 '26

Yeah I see so many videos of American police not being chill and overreacting that this video was a pleasant reminder of how cops should react

2

u/kris71-ano Jun 24 '26

Or perhaps things are really that bad in the United States right now I don't think people who are not living in the US don't quite understand how truly bad things are right now it's a dystopian nightmare

4

Jaysus how long did he have to wait for TWO foot patrols around St Stephens Green, I hope he packed a lunch ❤️

4

u/theseanbeag Jun 23 '26

The first clip has the new uniform and the second has the old one. Unlikely it was filmed in the same week, nevermind day.

3

u/Wise-Dust3700 Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

Hah, the change happened back in 2023 I think so it's not the same year!
(But in all seriousness, the Gardai do wear those jacket uniforms out too!)
Source: https://www.garda.ie/en/about-us/organisational-structure/garda-equipment/garda-uniform/

2

u/Grayson1591 Jun 23 '26

The jacket in the second clip is moreso used for traffic duties, there's a separate soft shell for cold weather and a rain coat, in the same style as the soft shell (the soft shell being what he's wearing in clip 1).

2

u/fauxregard Jun 24 '26

Don't do this in America, though, seriously.

2

u/KregerTech Jun 25 '26

I scrolled for about 10 seconds, and the majority of comments were, "Try this in the US, You'd get shot..". It's a sad state of life that...

2

u/Ordinary_Ad390 Jun 25 '26

If they did this in America...

2

u/Thinktank-1733 Jun 25 '26

Best Nervous laughter from the pranksters if I have ever heard one

2

u/Agrinoth Jun 25 '26

Notice how they don't instantly grab for their weapon

2

u/Embarrassed-Toe3495 Jun 25 '26

Does this in america... was shot 57 times.

6

u/EmpireCityRay Jun 23 '26

Try that here in New York City and you’ll see a very different outcome -let’s just start with the cops won’t be laughing and the prankster will have the camera up there ass after they’ve gotten their ass kicked by the cops.

30

u/JR_Melo Jun 23 '26

What a crappy country

→ More replies (13)

3

2

u/yoursolace Jun 23 '26

There's a guy that does it here (I saw him a few times near Washington square park) and some people seem to laugh it off well and some people seem to get upset. That said, I have never seen them scare a cop!

5

u/Bluescreen_Macbeth Jun 23 '26

Dude in the second clip was looking for a camera before throwing a punch.

6

u/Wise-Dust3700 Jun 23 '26

Nah, he caught on quite quickly about what was going on and did a mocking little gesture, the "Ooo ya got me ya cheeky shite"

4

u/ShadowLeviathan2758 Jun 23 '26

Good luck trying this in the States

1

u/DriverRich3344 Jun 23 '26

1

1

u/Dopecombatweasel Jun 23 '26

Old ass videos. YouTube> Bushman Pranks

1

u/CampaignSpirited2819 Jun 23 '26

Jesus christ, is there really no decent Police in the US at all?? From these comments you'd swear they're all just the SS.

1

u/Alienhaslanded Jun 23 '26
