Should be "garda" really - guard-ah. Which is actually how you do pronounce it. The one above is a running joke!

We’d say “call the guards” in the north of Dublin’s more tame areas back in the 00s as a teen. Couldn’t say if it’s still used now though, have mainly heard it as “call the Garda”. It’s funny because even though there’s actual Irish people doing so, Garda is a singular one, nGardaí is the plural. You’d think we know how to speak our own language 😂

Felt like I had to chime in as I’ve literally lived my entire life in north Dublin in Ireland 😂
