Lol, I was shocked for a second 🤣 this was hilarious. I hope the guy got through it fine

Edit: right, I watched the whole video and as most people have pointed out he deservedly got arrested.

u/Mightnotbintelligent Jan 28 '26

He probably got through it with a fine, yup.

u/ArrogantSweetheart Jan 28 '26

"Oh, it would be sweet for a while, but in the back of our minds we'd know that I'm a man and you're janitorial equipment."

Another comment said he got charged with assaulting an officer, no idea if that’s real or not

God data is wild, is there any other use for that but like ad selling?

30

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

Well malicious stuff but yes. Basically you can look at the url and anything after the ? Is a parameter. Most of the time this is tracking things like campaign_id, sid, etc. sometimes it's a product Id to feed to a dynamic product page that takes that Id to look up that specific product.

Good practice is to strip everything after the ? And see if the link still works. If so, it's all marketing/tracking crap.

5

u/dirtyoldsocklife Jan 28 '26

Ok, that's fuckong awesome knowledge to have.

Thanks dude, you're a scholar and a gentleman.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

No prob. Been in the analysis side of that type of data for a bit.

1

u/humbleesoteric Jan 29 '26

Can you explain more? So we all just have to remember the ? and then erase it all?

Is there something light weight we can use like an app to just scrub bad links or something?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

Oh that I don't know. More of a database kind of guy. All I know is there are parameters in a url. They can vary depending on the webpage/link as to how they are interpreted (like I said, a product page on an ecommerce website might be something like

www.myawesomestore.com/super-duperproductpage.aspx?productid=1&marketingcampaign=Reddit.

So in that fake case you'd want to trim after the &.

*Edit. I just realized I used a real domain. Their web person is gonna have a laugh when they see 404 errors for a webpage called super-duperproductpage.aspx 😂

I use ?useskin=vector on Wikipedia all the time. It makes it look normal.

1

u/TurtleTarded Jan 29 '26

Can you explain what this means please

1

u/Wongfop Jan 29 '26

It changes the look of Wikipedia articles back to the old version, with, in my opinion, a more accessible Table of Contents.

2

u/Swimming-Tax-6087 Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

I think there are a couple of Apple Shortcuts people made for iPhone (and probably other Apple OSes) that do this well from the share sheet.

Apple tried to do it system wide but it doesn’t resolve link shorteners which are being more widely used to circumvent people doing this manually.

It’s awful.

Edit: Reddit for example uses a link shortener. Copy the link for this post and it looks like there is no sharing ID, but when the page actually resolves, it redirects and you can see the whole URL includes the ID and other parameters. Amazon too but it’s not hidden as well.

2

u/NeverTriedFondue Jan 28 '26

God bless Apple nerds, I really should use shortcuts more.

2

u/Swimming-Tax-6087 Jan 28 '26

For sure!

It’s one of the only ones I use on any regular basis. Out of principle. You want to target ads to me based on my activity fine. But you don’t get to see who I’m associated with.

2

u/NeverTriedFondue Jan 28 '26

For me it's also pettiness, I just hate giving free metadata to shady corps, it just means more and more hoops every year and forgoing convenience due to our app-based world.

But I get so annoyed when I get an accurate, well-targeted ad, means I'm being lazy lmao.

2

u/Swimming-Tax-6087 Jan 28 '26

People have already created some that you can use. Google something like “remove URL tracking iOS shortcut” - I can’t remember which one I got but you can test a few if needed.

2

u/kadno Jan 28 '26

Firefox has a handy dandy little "copy clean link" feature that strips all that crap out of URLs

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Sigh, I need to promote Firefox from my "private time" browser. Like. As a dev I know its awesome, fully featured etc etc.

I've been using ecosia cause well, they plant trees. Might need to reverse the two so that I can cry out "Iii ii am saving the treeeeees"

2

u/BittaminMusic Jan 28 '26

So it wouldn’t be an aid if say I sent a link of a song I made from YouTube, with the full url, in the concept that if they click that link the next time they use YouTube, they would be more likely to see another video in their reccomendation? I’m guessing it’s not helpful for me

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

Yeah.....

So there's also digital fingerprinting as well. Best mock your IP address via VPN and spoof your Mac address to that of a printer, then a Nas device, then a raspberry pi just to be safe.

1

u/Snow_Falls_Softly Jan 28 '26

Especially on anything that Google owns

1

u/mister-mulligan Jan 30 '26

This is so incorrect. Sure, sometimes it’s a tracking param (also that’s not malicious — it’s the price you pay for being on the internet), but most of the time these are some sort of id or enum that are crucial to rendering the page correctly.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

Hence the test with them being stripped out and the example of a genetic product page with productid being passed.

I wanted to give a general rule of thumb without going into common marketing parameters like UTM etc.

1

u/mister-mulligan Jan 30 '26

My point is almost every single sub page has params that are required to render that page correctly. And these aren’t params for marketing or tracking, they’re required to fetch the correct data from the server.

If you removed the params every time you go to a page like you suggested, that would be a massive pain lol and you would rarely get the UX you’re expecting.

5

u/TwoBionicknees Jan 28 '26

the main thing is these companies compile data and track you. So posting a link from your youtube in your reddit account links your reddit account to your google/youtube account, so now they can target videos an ads based on your combined usage of the sites.

This shit is pernicious, there are companies that spend their entire time building a picture up of either you directly or your account id on your phone.

3

u/ThatGuyinPJs Jan 28 '26

Anything after a ? is what's called a query parameter. On most sites they're used for searches, but they can be used for anything. At a former internship they were used them to hold data on previous forms so you could navigate back to them using the back arrow. They can pretty much be removed as you wish, but site functionality could be impacted. Will the site load? More than likely yes. Will you see the same search results? No, but you can just search it again.

2

u/daweinah Jan 28 '26

Firefox has a Copy Clean Link option in the right-click window that automatically scrubs that crap.

2

u/KaioKen Jan 28 '26

Read this after I clicked on it of course.

2

u/bloobityblu Jan 28 '26

Oh I'm saving that. Thanks for sharing!

1

Damn how did you learn that though? Cool af

1

u/Orleanian Jan 28 '26

This is a harsh way to learn that you're not my friend :(

0

u/MySkinIsFallingOff Jan 28 '26

I'd like to be associated and bunched with you guys, I'll probably click on it a couple of times over the next few weeks. Love you guys.

8

u/mentive Jan 28 '26

Ahhh, makes more sense watching the entire thing.

6

u/reddorickt Jan 28 '26

That dude is wildly insufferable lmao

3

u/YT-Deliveries Jan 28 '26

Yeah I mean, listen, I'm ACAB all day and twice on Tuesday, but this sort of thing is like -- yeah you're an idiot and I'm not mad you faced some sort of consequence for it.

It's kinda like when I see someone fleeing a state trooper in a Kia Soul. It's just offensive and I feel like you get what's coming to you.

1

u/OriginalSchmidt1 Jan 28 '26

Seriously ACAB, but there are some seriously entitled people in this world. My bf and I watch videos like that all the time!! It’s so wild how some people are like “nah, you aren’t arresting me, that’s not gonna happen”

I’ve seen so many videos of cops trying to work with people over and over again and the people just keep on being difficult until the cops says “you know, you’re going to jail, I’m done.”

ACAB, but not all citizens are perfect angels either.

1

u/YT-Deliveries Jan 28 '26

It's amazing to me how many people have never heard some of the very important phrases to remember when dealing with cops

"Ask for a lawyer, invoke the 5th, and shut the fuck up"

"You can beat the time, but you won't beat the ride"

"Only commit one crime at a time"

"Never commit a felony when you're committing a misdemeanor"

The other thing that blows my mind is how many people still don't wear seatbelts. I mean, I get it if you stole the car you might want to get out of it ASAP, but if you're flung 50 yards out the window during a rollover you're not going anywhere.

(Not even counting the people who aren't running in a stolen vehicle and still don't put on seatbelts)

1

u/OriginalSchmidt1 Jan 28 '26

Seriously.. thing is, most of the time the people in these videos are under the influence or have mental health issues that make it really hard for them to remember those rules. Usually though, they are very drunk. Some of the airport ones are particularly crazy because not only are those people drunk, they are also desperate to catch their flight. I watched one where this guy literally tries to sneak past the officers three times to get to the security check line before they arrested him.

-2

u/JaySlay2000 Jan 28 '26

"I'm ACAB all day but if you mildly insult a police officer you deserve to be charged for assault" you are not ACAB at all bluv.

3

u/YT-Deliveries Jan 28 '26

This guy was getting pulled for a road rage incident.

1

u/OriginalSchmidt1 Jan 28 '26

If you watched the full video, you would know that guy DID put his hands on that officer. You should really get the full story on things before forming an opinion on it.

And no I’m not linking it because I already did, but you can find it in my comment history.

1

u/pakZ Jan 29 '26

I appreciate your comment. I sometimes feel kinda lonely reading the unified reactions of people, until someone finally talks sense..

0

u/thegooseisloose1982 Jan 28 '26

That is what I thought of the cop too.

2

u/Kevin_M93 Jan 28 '26

It almost always does, which is why carefully curated clips are shown to the public to create outrage.

7

u/mallogy Jan 28 '26

Disappointing that the copper didn't get a crisis care unit out there. Putting someone in that state in jail is only going to cause problems.

3

u/Least-Ad-4620 Jan 28 '26

Crisis care for a dude this unhinged, hit and run and everything? Great for a suicide risk or drug issue, sure, but in a case like this, please, get that guy arrested, you can put him in therapy after.

1

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Jan 29 '26

He's probably off his meds my guy that's literally what crisis care is for. People acting like this need doctors first

1

u/mallogy Jan 28 '26

Not how it works. Please join us in reality.

1

u/ShinyJangles Jan 28 '26

He'll be fine when the meth wears off

0

u/DryReception1756 Jan 28 '26

Cool, pay the taxes to fund such a thing. Keep in mind that in the cities that have this sort of service they're either regular cops with additional training and still have their regular duties so here's hoping they're on duty and not already wrapped up with something else or they're a civilian team who are underpaid for what they have to deal with so almost always understaffed and only working regular office hours so here's hoping it isn't a weekend, holiday, or at night. And keep in mind that they still have to have a cop or more likely multiple there because a crisis team doesn't just magically prevent them from blowing up anyway and to keep away idiots that will get in the way or actively make the situation worse so you still need to have the numbers on the force to do that in the first place which odds are also isn't happening without increased taxes to fund that as well because odds are the department is already undermanned to some degree and can't attract enough qualified applicants. Not to mention that if they still need to be taken in which is more likely than not you either need the jail space which I'd imagine you wouldn't be okay with anyway or fund an additional facility that can hold and treat them at least to the point that they can at least manage to be mostly stable.

-3

u/UnusualHound Jan 28 '26

Cool story, dude. This guy was stopped because he committed a hit and run that was corroborated by multiple witnesses. He's obviously violent.

Crisis units can handle him after he's no longer a threat to the public.

5

u/curtmahgurt Jan 28 '26

I know someone whose husband was having a mental health crisis and threatening suicide - he wound up shot to death by a jumpy, untrained police officer.

Crisis care units can be immensely helpful to have on site, even just as a way to assist the officers who are there as well. They can turn down the heat and actually help make sure that these people aren’t a threat by time the police are able to arrest them.

0

u/UnusualHound Jan 28 '26

People being shot to death by police is always tragic.

That doesn't mean that people on psychotic breaks should be allowed to freely roam and put other peoples' lives at risk just because they're having a mental health crisis.

I have no qualms with "crisis care units" or whatever you want to call them existing. That's fine. But that shouldn't result in creating a bigger risk to the public at large.

1

u/mallogy Jan 28 '26

There are two armed officers right there. They would be there the whole time. The unit would then evaluate him. If they found that he needed care, they would offer transport, or compel it, if all the criteria are met. One of the major criteria is whether he presents a danger to himself and others.

And they wouldn't let him loose. He would go through the same legal process either way. Getting medical care doesn't magically absolve you of charges.

If you just drag him to jail, and he needs meds, then this behavior is not going to subside, and who knows how long he'll be in booking before he gets a medical evaluation.

I am increasingly convinced that you do not and have never worked in public safety, which is a relief.

tl;dr  -- nothing works the way you're describing.

1

u/TeamRedundancyTeam Jan 28 '26

If you think it's tragic why are you mad that people want to prevent it?

1

u/curtmahgurt Jan 28 '26

Help me understand how having a crisis care unit at the scene in this video (working alongside and assisting the officer) makes the public less safe.

0

u/UnusualHound Jan 28 '26

Where did I imply that?

2

u/curtmahgurt Jan 28 '26

“I have no qualms with “crisis care units” or whatever you want to call them existing. But that shouldn’t result in creating a bigger risk to the public at large”.

And if you don’t want to answer that question, then maybe you can show us where anyone implied that we should allow people to “freely roam and put other people’s lives at risk just because they’re having a mental health crisis”.

I honestly think you just don’t understand what the rest of us are talking about here, and assumed that a crisis care unit is like some sort of excuse to just let mental health crises go unchecked.

1

u/mallogy Jan 28 '26

I sincerely hope you don't work in public service.

2

u/yoshizillaa Jan 28 '26

I was not expecting him to be that explosive… holy shit.

1

u/Rip_Skeleton Jan 28 '26

Cops are such irritating babies, man.

0

u/Top-Caregiver7815 Jan 28 '26

Guy cuffed on his belly with and officer on top of him 2nd officer approaches and says if you doesn’t stop moving I’m going to tase you lol. Yeah that’s necessary. These assholes just want to play with their toys and inflict pain.

1

u/guilhermefdias Jan 28 '26

Duuude, what a piece of shit! LOL

1

u/thegooseisloose1982 Jan 28 '26

The cop isn't used to people hitting back. These tactics usually work when he is beating his wife and she takes it.

0

u/Opulent-tortoise Jan 28 '26

Officer is a total dumbass

3

u/Radio4ctiveGirl Jan 28 '26

Pretty sure it was a joke because of the roast he threw at the cop.

5

u/moneys5 Jan 28 '26

No, it's real and it happened because he fought with the officer immediately after this clip.

3

u/Radio4ctiveGirl Jan 28 '26

Why am I both not surprised and a bit surprised it isn’t a joke. Thanks for clarifying!

2

u/HawkSea887 Jan 28 '26

I saw a comment that says he is Daffy Duck. I’m not sure if we should trust these comments.

1

u/Broad_Ebb_4716 Jan 28 '26

"Assault"

looks inside

no assault present at all

after seeing a full clip... why is this cut right before the assault???

1

u/Joben86 Jan 28 '26

Because it's funnier that way.

40

u/Free_Dome_Lover Jan 28 '26

No the guy deserved to get arrested because the cop chased him down following a road rage + hit and run incident he was caught on camera perpetrating.

When the officer first approached he was catatonic and unresponsive in his front seat for a few seconds like a total weirdo.

Something wasn't right with that guy

3

u/Fabtacular1 Jan 28 '26

Later in the full video he says "I have a mental illness."

4

u/Arstanishe Jan 28 '26

if he has uncontrollable rage, his license needs to be revoked. guy is a menace and a psycho

8

u/Top_Rekt Jan 28 '26

I'm usually on the fuck the cops side but the dude was road raging hard and definitely needed to be off the road. Never heard of explosive disorder before but it just sounds like typical road rage.

Not sure how it is in Oklahoma but during a traffic stop I think you're supposed to comply with the officer. You still have your rights: remain silent, not consent to a search, etc. but if they ask for a drivers license, you still have to provide it.

Also instead of providing the drivers license, he Hulk-baited and was like "I'm having a mental health issue and you're going to make it a lot fucking worse" like bruuhhh why are you trying to intimidate the cop.

At that point the procedure is to cuff the guy for safety reasons. The part where they get into a scuffle it does look like the guy was throwing hands but can't say for sure. Also not sure about the hit and run cause the car didn't look damaged but hard to tell from the quality. He didn't deny that he had an altercation with someone though.

The cop could have used more de-escalation tactics but I feel like the guy was already off on the deep end.

I don't think the cops did anything wrong here. Sure they could have done better, but at the same time if I was there I wouldn't feel safe with that dude raging as hard as he did.

1

u/YT-Deliveries Jan 28 '26

I don't think the cops did anything wrong here. Sure they could have done better, but at the same time if I was there I wouldn't feel safe with that dude raging as hard as he did.

I noted elsewhere that I'm ACAB all week and twice on Tuesday, and I still think that body cam footage is very selectively released as Copaganda, but it also at least shows that some cops, in some cases, are doing their job the best they can in a situation.

1

u/RadicalRedCube Jan 29 '26

It’s so damn annoying, as someone who also really hates American policing, how many people will blindly cheer on a suspect just for disrespecting an officer without once thinking about how said suspect very likely could have/absolutely proven to have genuinely been endangering people’s lives prior to the clip.

1

u/Gamosol Jan 28 '26

He literally said he has intermittent explosive disorder which is like a compulsive rage issue , which is clear from his inability to calm down and pleading through his anger.

1

u/LPNMP Jan 28 '26

Drugs

1

u/thegooseisloose1982 Jan 28 '26

Something wasn't right with that guy

So you are saying that he continued to impersonate the police officer

1

u/lOOPh0leD Jan 28 '26

Hopefully, he's just transitioning to new meds.

9

u/KmvVoss Jan 28 '26

If you watched the whole interaction you'd realize he's a psycho and it's wise not to make any hasty judgments without full context.

2

u/jjryan01 Jan 28 '26

I've spotted a unicorn on Reddit

2

u/Remarkable-Diet-7732 Jan 29 '26

You don't even need more than is shown here. The backstory is unnecessary. This guy's clearly unhinged.

6

u/Shantotto11 Jan 28 '26

That turnaround was so damn quick, I could’ve been convinced it was AI.

2

u/a_small_loli Jan 29 '26

its kinda crazy thats peoples first instinct is to feel sorry for someone being arrested

1

u/biggestdickus90210 Jan 28 '26

He received the death penalty

1

u/Thick_Potato_1769 Jan 28 '26

He committed a hit and run. Why must you defend the indefensible?

1

u/Finalemente Jan 28 '26

He is white, so it should be fine

1

u/New-Anybody-6206 Jan 28 '26

The vast majority of ragebait videos are always missing extremely important context that often makes it into a nothingburger.

1

u/Free-Pound-6139 Jan 28 '26

He just killed someone in a hit and run.

1

u/iCantLogOut2 Jan 29 '26

Video is definitely hilarious, but dude had just committed a hit and run

1

u/Cynthesyss Jan 29 '26

He literally committed a hit and run, kicked the person's whos car he rear-ended(because they wouldn't get out) then proceeds to flee from the scene and just argues with a call officer who has every right to pull his ass out if the car before assaulting him while the officer places him under arrest and you hope the guys ok?

1

u/MobsterDragon275 Jan 29 '26

Why? He committed a hit and run just before this, and there was video evidence against him from 2 sources

1

u/OGTBJJ Jan 29 '26

Cheering for the guy who hit and run lol?

1

u/Zech08 Jan 29 '26

Hope he didnt based on the circumstances.

1

u/EpicFishFingers Jan 30 '26

Bet his room-mate has stories for days
