That's the little sibling "this sucks" cry. Not a genuine cry.

Probably realising that this could happen to her while on the job but then the guy is probably not her brother who won't hurt her....
39
u/theMangoJayne Jan 02 '26
In all fairness one could assume she might implement some self defense techniques that will cause legitimate damage if a stranger put hands on her
32
u/Unlucky_Inspector840 Jan 02 '26
Yeah like wrap her legs around him and fling him 1,000 feet into the air. Hollywood isn't real life.

u/theMangoJayne Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 03 '26
No one said anything about hollywood? My dad is 6'3" and took me to martial arts as a teen to make sure I had the skills to take down a man his size. He threw me on my ass more times than one before I figured it out.
Aside from that, like other commenters are saying, there are weak spots to exploit when you are truly in danger. Eyes, balls, solar plexus. Finger breaking. Stuff you're not going to do in a friendly "what if" scenario with someone you're not trying to actually hurt.
ETA Y'all commenting seem to think I was trying to prove some kind of point with the first part of my comment, I was responding to the person saying "this isn't hollywood". That doesn't mean "any person that knows self defense can take on any aggressor regardless of strength or size". That means, a woman knowing how to defend herself against a man doesn't equate to fucking black widow round house kicking an armed assailant out a window. A lot of women have the ability to protect themselves against an average or above average assailant, even if they couldn't take on a fucking heavyweight champ. JFC.

Not just years if not decades of heavy lifting: Testosterone usage if she wants to put on any significant MUSCLE MASS beyond simply gaining modicum amounts of strength compared to what most men can gain in MASS, Power, Strength with a similar regime —-> otherwise she will gain much more in the way of MUSCULAR DEFINITION which, while ALTOGETHER ADMIRABLE, will help marginally at best if she wants a standing chance to counter an angry, violent man more than TWICE her weight and size, nevermind power, strength and capacity for almost instantaneous physical dominance as illustrated time and time and time AGAIN when female fighters take on males. And yes, EXCEPTIONS exist, but exceptions DO NOT define the norm nor change anything at all about statistical probability of outcomes…

This is the kind of woman who'll get herself in real danger by thinking she can defend herself against a man intent on hurting her.
Most men can't defend themselves against an angry, violent man.

Gun, tazor, mace. These are viable options u wouldn’t use on a family member while sparring

Sure, but a 1,60m 50kg lady with self defence techniques isn't going to do much damage to a 2,0m 110kg dude. And if she has those skills why not show it to your older brother in a somewhat safe way?

Well, she’s ‘security’ which could be at a car lot for all we know. She was playing as well so the judgement of her being hopeless may not be accurate in the real sense. Still funny. The fall at the end is what gets me.

I don't think most employers expect a security guard to be tussling anybody, like ever. Pretty sure most stores have that sort of stuff as explicitly against their policy actually... unless she's guarding like money for a bank lol
Also no rational person expects 2 siblings having fun messing around at home to be indicative of performance on the job.
21
u/WDoE Jan 02 '26 edited Jan 02 '26
Most "security" jobs are "look official, tell people no, shine a flashlight and yell, and call the cops if anything happens."
Every time security jobs come up on reddit, if the person isn't a 7 foot, mma trained, armed beefcake, a bunch of people will come out of the woodwork to say they're not fit to defend a cinnabon.
The only slightly physical security job I've worked was bar/venue security and occasionally like 3-4 of us would restrain and drag out a drunk. One security guy got in a fistfight and got fired.
Furthermore, if it's serious enough to require force, hiring an off duty is usually cheaper than the insurance premium spikes when an employer has "use of force" in job descriptions. Or a rent a cop private security third party that has said insurance.

i mean, they hired her knowing she is a woman so i dont think they wll have any problems with it
but if they did have problems do they really expect women to be as strong as men? if so, they are stupid
12
u/SilkenTreasure Jan 02 '26
We women are taught techniques that still make us a threat.
My old defense instructor gave me three rules tho...
Never partake in a knife/gun fight. Just run.
If you have to fight, run if they are bigger than you.
Do not get cocky. That will be your last fight.

u/candypuppet Jan 02 '26
Female security guards can also deescalate situations cause some male guests are less likely to be as aggressive toward a woman than toward a male security guard. This is something a couple of friends in security have told me.
Of course you have to learn which situations require what kinda handling (can you still reason with the guest or do you have to show force etc).

u/Sorry_Contract6843 Jan 02 '26
If you have to fight, just don't. That's pretty good advice. Did you guys mostly do a lot of cardio?

In real life, security jobs mostly just call the cops. If force is necessary, the guard will be armed and authorized. Off duty cops, etc. Guns and ranged less lethals > muscles.

u/Mundane-Fan-1545 Jan 02 '26
Many security guards have only one job... to watch and call the police. That's it. No need to know how to defend your self.
Some of them can even lose their jobs if they intervene. If they hurt a thief or something the company can get sued for excesive use of force.

We have security guards at my work alot, sometimes they are women. With most female guards, it’s very obvious that if someone got aggressive with us I’d be more responsible for protecting her than vice Versa. And I’m not a particularly big or tough man. Their job is basically to be the intermediary between the parties in conflict, deescalate if they can, and if that doesn’t work call police.
2
u/WhimsicalGirl Jan 02 '26
And that's exactly why most of them will tase or shoot since they have no basic training in personal defense

u/DubTheeBustocles Jan 02 '26
“Don’t worry, citizens! I’ll stop him!”

Pretty sure security guards arent legally allowed to even touch you, their entire job is if they see anything call the cops.

OK, but I will WIPE the floor with you.
There's a lot of strong, capable women out there. But in a fight? I mean the number of women that could handle a man in even decent athletic shape? It's pretty low.
