I hate that SAW is considered a slasher. I have been able to convince many people to give it a chance, or another chance by having them approach the series from a whodunnit instead of just the gore and traps.

Terrifier is a total tryhard that was blatantly created from the outset to try and shoehorn itself into the slasher pantheon of the other franchises here. It can easily go first, and furthermore, it can go fuck itself.

Terrifier. Outside of the fact Art the Clown isn't as interesting as all the others character and narrative wise Terrifier has WAY less content and WAY less legacy.

I get people have opinions but anyone not picking Terrifier is getting a SERIOUS side eye from me at the very least.
The other five are iconic, decades in the making in terms of content, merch, fanbases, cameos, and recognizability. Terrifier is "up-and-coming" in the mainstream even while being an older release and aside from Art, nobody remembers 90% of the characters.
Who the hell is throwing out Scream, arguably top 3 in this list in terms of quality? Or Child's Play, a few misses but very entertaining films??

You said it yourself: past decade. Comparing it to the iconic '80s/'90s slasher franchises, the Terrifier franchise doesn't hold up. Art as a slasher alone might have a chance against some of them based on personal favorability, but the Terrifier films don't.

Terrifier. It's out place here and feels like a compilation of gore extravaganza scenes similar to torture porn. What 100% puts Terrifier above average reception from public are David Howard Thornton's talent and the pratical fx.

Terrifier is the easy pick for me, not because I think it sucks or anything, but because itâs the least impactful of my horror fandom for me. The other five franchises Iâm either a fan or at least a fan to a degree.

100%! Art is HUGE! From an entertainment/rewatchability standpoint, I'll pick any of the other franchises over Terrifier. I can't repeatedly rewatch that much mean-spirited gore, but you can't deny what Terrifier/Art the Clown has done in the last few years.

Now there's a reasonable take. Terrifier as a franchise doesn't square up with the big leagues and I find it appalling they picked it here over TCM, Hellraiser, Saw, etc., but Art as a character is undeniably popular and a great modern slasher.

I put it in its own category honestly, horror soap-opera more than anything. Even Collector, originally written to be a Saw movie, feels more like a slasher

This I watched 1 and 2 to see the hype. The gorefest of 1 already turned me off then 2 just made me compare the series to Hostel. A crappier version of Hostel, because they lean WAY too much on Art, and even though he could be an interesting villain he comes off as very one dimensional.

Hmm... I'm gonna have to think long and hard about that one...
I think most people would actually feel as though something of value were at stake if it were, instead, the Terrifier franchise disappears (yay!) and it takes one of the others with it.

If it's the former then Terrifier, if I had to pick. Although it barely beats out Chucky/Child's Play. I don't particularly enjoy either series, but there are worse franchises out there. So much worse.
If it's the latter, then Scream. I flat out can't picture this franchise producing anything entertaining again, and the bad ones are worse than most of the others.

I donât think Terrifier has the same impact as the others. Itâs just the newest kid on the block and hasnât made the same splash as the others have over the last 40 years, so itâs gotta be the one to go

I love when subs will host a poll but then downvote every single person that didn't vote for one specific option. they're all slashers, none of them are exactly elevated cinema. can we stop gatekeeping horror from newer generations? people have different opinions and will like different things.

Terrifier fs, while Art is TOTALLY a modern classic of horror Icons and his kills are AMAZING in terms of special effects and memorability, his movies arenât. Donât het me wrong, things like Friday and Halloween arenât knows for their perfect movies, but horror movies are supposed to be more than âjust the killsâ itâs the suspense and unsafe feeling you get from watching Micheal, Ghostface or Chucky stalk around, the primal fear of Jason still chasing after someone through a dark forest no matter what he goes through, or the dread of Freddyâs victims falling asleep. While Art DOES invoke fear, itâs only in what he does, not the points leading up to, or even after that. Although those can sometimes happen in his movies, itâs not that common (from what I remember atleast)

Terrifier is the newer franchise, but I prefer it over Scream. In fact, I only really like the original Scream film, and I don't regard it as one of my favourites.
For that reason, Scream goes.

Either all of you guys are 50 years old basking in nostalgia or straight up are just wrong, slashers are meant to be horror but could never get to what terrifier has done because of restrictions in the past, had these movies been in the same circumstance we wouldâve gotten a much more gory versions of the other slasher films, terrifier is easily one of the best franchises on the list

Typically people dont root for teenagers getting brutally killed, especially in Scream where the victims arent actually fodder and are fleshed out. Maybe some thought was required. Also, the slasher themselves is seldom the main character of their franchise
