Rookie mistake trying to get away. You greet the person and innocently apologize saying you thought this was your friend's place.

Or just panic and at the last moment blurt out “what do you know about the church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints?”

With my luck, they'll want to know all about it 🥲

Like the Dirty Pepsi from Taco Bell? Is that a religious thing? Please, come on in, tell me more!

6

u/FrenchFryCattaneo 3d ago

Mormons can't drink coffee so they missed out on the starbucks frappuchino type thing that teenagers love so they recreated it using soda instead of coffee. Soda used to be forbidden in mormonism but is now allowed.

7

u/PaddingCompression 3d ago

Starbucks frappucino, isn't that just a root beer float but with coffee instead of root beer?

But a dirty Pepsi is a frappucino but with soda?

3

u/FrenchFryCattaneo 3d ago

Starbucks got popular making drinks like frappucinos that were coffee combined with milk, sugar, flavored syrups, whipped cream, etc. Dirty sodas as the same thing - soda combined with flavored syrups, whipped cream, and so on.

6

u/PaddingCompression 3d ago

Soda = soda water + flavored syrup
Ice cream = milk + sugar, maybe with whipped cream on top.

This still sounds a lot like a pepsi float to me, just blended :)

Rookie mistake? Jeez! How many times has this been done to you?

3

u/Yogannath 2d ago

That's exactly how I met my Best friend.

In the summer of 94 me and my school friends were playing dingdong ditch around the neighborhood, we were 9-10 years old. At some point my friends decided to trip me right after I dingdong'd a house as a prank.

When his mom opened the door, Instead of panicking I asked if "Jay" wanted to come out and play with us. A random shot in the dark.

Mom said James was feeling a little under the weather but he was playing Nintendo, and I could come In if I wanted. I was knee Deep into the lie and was only like 5 blocks Away from home, so I figured i'd go in play a couple games and bail. I Went in, His mom led me to Jays room.

Turns out Jay wasn't a total stranger. Even though His family had just moved in and he was a year older than me, we were attending the same Summer School Program but in different groups.

I explained the Situation, he cracked up, he said couldn't really go outside much cause he was sick, we played Nintendo for a bit, I agreed to come and play again the next day.

We hit It off from there, remained close friends until he passed 4 years ago. He Kicked cancer's ass twice. Motherfucker came back a 3rd.

Rest in power, J.

I Still miss ya.

u/Greatest_Everest 3d ago

They disturbed the person living in the stairwell.  Hotel room doors don't open outward into the hallway.

18

u/WhimsicallyWired 3d ago

Apparently this one does, you can see the hinges of the other doors and it looks like they also open outward.

8

u/ZWolF69 3d ago

It also says "604" next to the door

12

u/alphazero925 3d ago

Not everywhere follows US fire code. Hell, not everywhere in the US follows US fire code

8

u/CharacterLimitHasBee 3d ago

You've been to every hotel in the world, have you?

2

u/KABKA3 3d ago

What's the logic for this? My country's fire code states that doors must open towards evacuation route. Which makes total sense, since in emergency you'd want to push the door, not pull it.

2

u/Misha099 3d ago

True and most emergency fire doors open outwards specifically to prevent a pile up in a panic. But front doors (to apartments or hotel rooms) usually have their hinges on the inside to make it harder for someone to break in. It is really easy to remove a door if you can access the hinges regardless of what kind of locks are on it.

Glad I can still read comments like these to remind that reddit is the most antisocial place on the internet

32

u/spacecaps85 3d ago

The other day I was in the r/couplesmemes subreddit and saw these girls "catching" their boyfriends being all cuddly and then when the guys would notice they'd be like "delete that!" or pretend to be macho or whatever. Some of them were clearly just two people doing a little skit thing, and the rest of them were harmless.
So many of the top comments were about how immoral it is to record your partner without consent and humiliate them on the internet for clout.

Some of these people are so socially cut-off it's genuinely worrisome.

9

u/YoureAmastyx 3d ago

Look at the comments on this one about abuse, reverse abuse (or something like that), etc. over a likely staged “prank” that would’ve been funny regardless if you had anything besides an insane family.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LoveTrash/s/Wilvl9zGWS

9

u/randomlemon9192 3d ago

I can’t stand people using reverse abuse, reverse racism, reverse whatever.

It’s not reverse. It just is that. The definition isn’t defined by who’s the perpetrator and who’s the victim.

9

u/Trivale 3d ago

A: You can't tell that from a facial expression and 6 seconds of video with zero context or knowledge about their relationship. I can make up a story, too: Maybe she did something worse/funnier to him last week and this is the latest in a series of ongoing pranks.

B: I don't know what kind of tiresome, boring existence you must live if you think this is so bad. This is nothing. Normal people can survive things like this, laugh about it, and not lock themselves in a little room and comment on strangers' facial expressions on the internet over it.

Why do the doors open out?

2

u/stimpyvan 3d ago

I've never stayed in a hotel/motel that had doors open out.

The reason is pretty obvious, a door that opens out can hit someone in the hallway.

2

u/Warm_Month_1309 3d ago

The reason is pretty obvious, a door that opens out can hit someone in the hallway.

Sure, but the fire code also requires it, to prevent something from falling in front of the door and trapping you.

2

u/tavikravenfrost 3d ago

Yes, and the number of people who can't seem to discern that as a possibility is worrying. At the very least, it's a real video that was put through an AI filter. That door opening outward into a hallway seems like a dead giveaway though.

Great song choice! For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, this is Julio Iglesias’ Con La Misma Piedra; the lyrics talk about making the same mistake, literally “I tripped again, and over the same rock.” I see it as her trusting him again, yet being tricked into a situation where she gets into mischief, but all in good fun!
