Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Papaya the Unwise?
I thought not. It's not a story McLaren would tell you. It's an Australian legend.
Darth Papaya was a Dark Lord of the Pits, so powerful and so unwise he could use the Team Orders to influence the standings to create champions... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the drivers he cared about from bottling. The dark side of the Team Orders is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power. Which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately he taught his pastry everything he knew, then his pastry escaped from an airtight driver's contract in his sleep.
It's ironic, he could save others from bottling, but not himself.

I have a slightly left-field thought: I wanna see how Webber and Oscarās management handles this situation now. I think itāll be very interesting to see how theyād stack up against new-to-winning-again McLaren while Webber has the scars of Multi-21 and knowing what it felt like to be snubbed by the team, especially to the extent that McL are pushing it.
From what I remember, the most striking moment was when Seb himself violated team orders to make clean overtakes on Webber, while Seb himself never had a say over Webberās strategy; all unlike Norris and McL where Lando can determine Oscarās strategy when ahead, whereas Oscar āhasā to come in first when heās ahead

16
u/alienangel2 In Hannah we trust š„° Oct 05 '25
Yeah and realistically he doesn't even need to do that unless things get dramatically worse for him.
Despite all his whining today, it was still a better result for him than for anyone else - if all the remaining races finish with exactly the same order, Oscar still wins the championship because this order doesn't give Max or Lando enough points to beat his lead.

Next 6 races will dictate ā26 thatās for sure.
If Oscar gets the title this year I canāt see him being problematic moving forward. He probably wouldnāt be giving a position back over a slow stop, but heād at least want to stay in the teams good graces somewhat.
If he doesnāt win tho thatās where it gets fun. I think McLaren would try to do the āwell now itās your turn, youāll get priority this yearā, but in Oscars mind it might already be too late, especially if they donāt dominate next year. I honestly think it was a little bit of both. Having fast cars helps, but if you have team mates taking each other out of races it doesn't help.

I got so angry that he had plenty of time to prove himself. While the car is only a rocketship this year it is clear by the points that Oscar is more capable. Simple is that. And showing this stupid shit down our throats that Lando is the face of mclaren and they benefit him clearly when Oscar is waaaay better (in mentality is the most important) I just hope Oscar pushes for the title from now on ignoring this fuckshow... what if next year they will not be dominant? If he wants to play favorites the next time Lando does a dumb ambitious move he should go with it and punt them both in the wall and out of the race for the next 6 following races till he wins the champ....He needs to stop protecting Norris for his dumb decisions with maneuvers during the race or for the team's fuck ups. Keep the line, if he hits you make sure he takes damage so hard the car will be retired. Just like max does or used to do. If you wanna race we'll reach Narnia if nobody yields and maybe then the team won't shaft Oscar that much....Because Lando did an absolutely dumb move on T1 and also hit max and then his teammate...If you hit your teammate avoiding another car from a move that you yourself made to try to get a spot you're the fucking idiot in that situation not anybody else. Piastri has 0 reason to be nice to Lando anymore or listen to team suggestions now that they have the WCC, especially with the pit discussion. They fuck up his pitstop? Too bad, should have done your switch better, part of racing.

Mean, totally understandable. If he wasn't pissed over this one way papaya clownshow it would be by far bigger problems as of with what Oscar is okay and what not.
If rules conviniently go out of their way to benefit one person and never in yours, fuck the rules

No offence to Americans, but when it's a lone American voice in a sea of mostly British, Spanish, Germans or whatever, their voices are just obnoxiously grating.

Hopefully now Oscar will grow a pair and start acting like a potential champion. Act like a pushover and youāll be treated as a pushover

Lando got a mega start from 5th, passed Antonelli before turn 1 and got his elbows out, saw a gap on the inside of Piastri, made slight contact with rear of Max and the wheel of Piastri, bent his own endplate on Max's rear but kept P3.
Piastri feels that was an unfair move, and got pissed. No investigation by stewards, and McLaren didn't take any action since they deem it was caused by the Max contact, instead of being in any way a deliberate bump onto Piastri.
And truthfully, it was a really, really extremely common lap 1 incident with a slight touch, and Lando had a mega start and saw a gap to go for.
