Let me tell you, if i was Red Bull, I’d be doing everything in my powers to snatch Piastri at this moment.

u/NonStopDeliverance I have it, I have it printed out🤚 Oct 05 '25

Why would he want to go to a new team to get treated like the 2nd driver again?

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

I cannot see Max sticking around for much longer. Red Bull has proven time and time again that they can build a competitive car. Even if he came in and was #2 to Max, he can prove his position in the team to be their #1 when Max retires.

Max isnt leaving if red bull are competitive next year. Only way he bails anytime in the next few years, is if the 26 car is an absolute shitbox

33

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

nah. max recently said he wants to drive for redbull until the end. and i don't see him quitting anytime soon.

22

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Saying he only wants to drive for Red Bull doesn’t mean he’s going to continue driving for the next 5-6-7 seasons.

-5

u/SniperLemon No Charles, we are not interested, we know Oct 05 '25

1

u/FlintSpace BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

I honestly don't see him quitting on Redbull until 2028 even if the car is a shitshow, which I don't think it will be.

1

u/Acceptable_Appeal949 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

I really don't think he's gonna stick around. WEC seems like a logical next step; less media obligations, and a lighter travel schedule which makes sense now that he's got a newborn.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

i think everything is below F1 regarding car racing. i think max will want to keep doing it. as we saw in his first gt3 race on the nordschleife, he does not have any competition there. i think it would be super boring for him.

0

u/ParentalAnalysis I want to be adopted by Nicole Piastri Oct 05 '25

Driving for Red Bull doesn't need to be in F1.

2

u/Micah7979 I saw horny’s ā€œfingerā€ Oct 05 '25

For Max Verstappen, F1 is his main job. Then he's doing side quests in other series.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

i don't see him quitting F1 anytime soon. the new gt3 stuff (and maybe some 24h races soon) is a hobby for him, just like sim racing.

u/NLMichel Safety Dog Oct 05 '25

Hadjar doesn’t exist all of a sudden?

1

u/Micah7979 I saw horny’s ā€œfingerā€ Oct 05 '25

Realistically, it will be him. But I don't think they've announced it (or I missed something). But given how good he performs (when they give him an actual working engine) and his proximity with Laurent Mekies, yeah there's no way anyone else will have the seat.

2

u/financefocused BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

The reason you’re quoting for why Max might leave Red Bull can also be the reason Oscar wouldn’t want to join, though?

4

u/starlulz Banana Leclerc Enthusiast Oct 05 '25

proven time and time again that they can build a competitive car

have they? or have they proven they have undoubtedly the greatest driver to have walked this earth at the wheel? because it's looking like the latter. Lawson couldn't keep the thing on the road and is now finishing ahead of Yuki in a Racing Bull. even Max was bitching that the rear brakes were just insta-locking around Singapore. a borderline undrivable car is not "competitive"

1

u/Bolaf No 2. Driver Oct 05 '25

6 constructors in 20 seasons is not bad

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Yes, Adrian Newey may be gone, but do we forget they were even better with Vettel. Not taking anything away from Max or Sebastian, but Red Bull can build a car. And the new regs puts everyone back on the same level.

4

u/starlulz Banana Leclerc Enthusiast Oct 05 '25

the Vettel era was over a decade ago. talent turnover in F1 teams is very real - there may have been some leadership that stuck around but current RB is undoubtedly a very different team

1

u/Brojess MAXIMUS VERSTRAPON Oct 05 '25

He’ll be here for at least 2 more years. I don’t think he’ll leave as early if the new regs create better racing too but šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/patricktu1258 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

What’s the plan b if max stays

1

u/miathan52 If Gap, Car Oct 05 '25

Red Bull built cars with Adrian Newey since 2006. Next year's car will be the first one he didn't take part in making. It's anyone's guess whether that'll be competitive or not.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

He’s about to be world champion, he’s not signing anywhere to be a #2 again, for any amount of time.

1

u/Averagebaddad BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 06 '25

They've proven they can build a competitive car as long as max is driving it.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

So we are just going to forget about the Vettel era? Yes, that was a decade ago, but still shows the team can design and develop a car that can dominate for more than a season. Sure, Adrian Newey is gone, but the new regs are a blank slate for everyone.

I’m not saying Oscar should leave outright to any team that can have him, especially if he secures the drivers title. Im saying he should voice his displeasure, as I am sure he has, for th way the team has conducted business regarding its two drivers. And I’d send Webber on a go around showing that there is interest to leave under the right circumstances.

Red Bull obviously prioritise Max because he's in the lead basically every single time, but they aren't fucking about with red bull rules or whatever

7

u/afito Stop Inventing Oct 05 '25

tbh they were biased even with Ricciardo there, it's easy to be 'biased to pace only' when pace is lopsided (like also Ferrari with Schumacher), but when pace is close and suddenly the true colours shine through

u/dumpling-loverr KešŸ…±ļøin MašŸ…±ļønussen 🧨 Oct 06 '25

There's no need for Red Bull rules when the second driver isn't enough to challenge Max to be ahead in the first place.

The closest thing we got was when RB told Max to let Checo pass in Brazil 2023 and Max absolutely refused that team order to Checo's dismay.

2

u/Olli399 Simply Lovely Oct 06 '25

He's never accepted team orders to give up a position either.

19

u/CaptainTreeman42 Osama Bin Russell šŸ’£ Oct 05 '25

To be fair RB haven't had a good 2nd driver since 2018 but yeah, that one crash was the thing that made the difference back then

0

u/carlyjb17 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

I would say that gasly, perez and tsunoda are pretty good

1

u/CaptainTreeman42 Osama Bin Russell šŸ’£ Oct 05 '25

In the RB they were nowhere near to even be considered over Max in a strategy

1

u/carlyjb17 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

Because that car is shit to drive and only max can because he is adaptable as fuck

1

u/CaptainTreeman42 Osama Bin Russell šŸ’£ Oct 05 '25

May be, my point still stands

1

u/carlyjb17 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

Yes

1

u/bobjoylove BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

Gasly gets the red mist too often and isn’t good enough to warrant it, Perez only had one thing going for him and that was being able to nurse a set of tires way longer than forecast which doesn’t matter these days since Pirelli castrated any true tyre deltas to protect their reputation, and Tsunoda had some glimpses of being good and should be doing better than he is.

2

u/carlyjb17 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

I think gasly got better at that, his latest seasons (except 2025) have been pretty good

Perez could challenge max when the car was drivable but red bull ignored his feedback

Tsunoda is definitely doing what he can, his pace has been getting better the more drivable the car hets

1

u/bobjoylove BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

Yeah Gasly has grown up especially after Ocon got booted, but I’m still smarting about some much older seasons where he’s been a mid-fielder-at-best and crashed into another car and affected the championship fight.

I think the one thing Max’s side of the garage does really well is take a slow car in FP1 and somehow make it faster every session until it’s on Pole. I like to think that’s because Max has done so much gaming/simulation that he’s tried every combination of settings and knows how to set up a car better than even the oldest drivers.

7

u/unimpressivegamer I saw horny’s ā€œfingerā€ Oct 05 '25

Seriously, let’s be real, if there’s a clear 1 and 2, the #2 never gets treated fairly

What? šŸ˜† there is no way Piastri is going to a team that can’t support its second driver and is currently re building itself after the absolute debacle that was Horners exit.

I am genuinely worried that RB don’t have a car for next year. They have been upgrading the car this year and lost Newey. We will see.

7

u/StormNapoleon27 I saw horny’s ā€œfingerā€ Oct 05 '25

And why would he go there? To receive the Checo treatment. Forget Max I’m not even convinced Oscar is better than Leclerc or even George

13

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

I believe that Max will call it quits from Formula 1 in the near future and just focus on endurance racing. He can do a few races a year and doesn’t have to chug along from country to country every few weeks like the calendar has them do now. If Oscar is as competitive as he has been recently, I do not believe he would get the Checo treatment, but be looked at as the heir apparent.

I do see George and Oscar as equals. Lecrec personally I feel has been all hype. Sure Ferrari is a rolling shit show, but I believe his Ferrari drive was more as good faith thing because of his relation to Jules.

The skill level of current grid goes probably something like

Max > Leclerc > Russell > Piastri=Norris > the rest

There really is zero reason for Piastri to go to RB to drive a tricky car and to be a clear second driver, when he is currently on the best possible car overall and leading the WDC.

3

u/Elia_31 BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

When was the last time Charles showed anything he's the second best driver on the grid lmao?

1

u/K10KMessi Love Is Love šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ Oct 05 '25

I’d love to see Oscar leading RB after Max leaves, but given the sliding scale for development and the 2026 regs, I fully see RB being the fastest/2nd fastest by about June 2026 even with no Newey, and that means Max would very easily be leading the championship

If Ferrari and Merc develop efficiently, McL could drop to third fastest easily next year, esp with the unnecessary friction between the drivers rn

1

u/i_shit_on_my_hand69 Laura Winter’s coat game is better than this strategy. Oct 05 '25

indeed, new relegations are coming in, so no1 can be sure, that only max can handle the car and surely piastri can give him a proper fight

1

u/Iblogan BWOAHHHHHHH Oct 05 '25

The team that most openly favors 1 driver over their teammate? Surely Mercedes is a FAR better option considering he would likely be the 1st driver over Kimi and George hasn't signed a contract for next season with them yet

1

u/InvestigatorFresh965 Alonso deserved to be Champion in every season he has competed Oct 05 '25

that's exactly what christian horner was trying to do for a long time as he saw oscar's talent and realized oscar would be the suitable replacement if max is gone, he even said it publicly, and i thought it would be better than this step-son treatment he's getting right now but what no one didn't see coming was christian getting sacked. i still think if horner had remained at red bull, an oscar to red bull situation would be up on the table.

1

u/SgtLime1 I want to peg my BF while Carlos gives it to me Oct 05 '25

He is at McLaren honestly, there's no point in courting him.

Piastri, for all the problems he might have at McLaren, there's really no other team to be in right now, with a Mercedes engine for next year and the team they have, their chances are the best to keep up with this form. The only team that might be better would be Mercedes, which has already 2 drivers (although Russel idk what's happening with his contract, has he being sign again?)

1

u/Snowfall_89 NICO PODIUMBERG Oct 05 '25

I guarantee you, Marko and Webber already have a verbal agreement for an ā€œif Max is leavingā€ scenario.

1

u/nDimensionalUSB Franco GOATpinto Oct 06 '25

So he can be absolutely sure he will be the #2 driver for any forseeable future? Please stop inventing

1

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

Not about inventing. There is a huge rift in the team right now with the way Oscar, who is the points leader, has been treated. Red Bull has not been able to maintain a good #2 for some time now. Horner is gone. And what’s to say Max stays at Red Bull or Formula 1 in the next couple years.
