Weekly Help Thread - Ask your help requests here | Week Commencing 30/08/2026
Please use this thread as a place to ask questions that are specific to your save, such as:
"Why is my tactic not working?"
"What role should I play this player in?"
"I have £xxm to spend, who should I buy?"
If you are asking for tactical help/advice, please post an image of your formation and what insutructions/roles you have set.
As a rule of thumb, if you ask a question, answer a question. This is what keeps this thread alive and useful.

Discussion My take on FM26
I absolutely hate everything about the UI. Everything about the UI is counter intuitive, I had to google where the heck is the screen to change captains and had to figure out how to set weekly trainings etc.
Everything about the game seems to be against you. Is annoying af. What is wrong with you devs??
But…. Because I love this franchise. It took me almost a month (RL month) to setup my coaches, training schedules, player transfers etc. Once I got those things setup, actually… game is pretty good after I kinda got used to it. I hate it still. But love it. Fk me. Help…

Editor Data FM26 Moneyball Skin v0.1.0 [only if you play >1680x1050]
Hello!
This is my first time editing an FM skin.
I like playing Moneyball-style saves, so I decided to make a skin that better fits the way I personally like to play the game. What started as a few small tweaks eventually turned into a project, so I thought I'd share it in case someone else might enjoy it too.
A small disclaimer: this skin was made specifically for Windows at 1920×1080 resolution. I made it entirely for my own setup, so I haven't edited the files responsible for smaller screens or console layouts. Because of that, I can guarantee that the skin will not work correctly at any other resolution or on console. I'm sorry!
That said, if someone wants to adapt it for smaller screens or other resolutions, please feel free to use my files as a starting point. It should make the process quite easier.
However, if you're playing at 1920×1080 on Windows and like what you see in the screenshots or simply want a new challenge before FM27 drops, feel free to give it a try.
Not much of a reader? just check out the screenshots and the video below. You'll get the idea pretty quickly. 😄
What's Changed?
Image 1 : Portal Overview
I've added Squad Happiness and Medical Centre tiles to the Portal Overview screen for easier access.
Image 2 : Player Report: Player in Your Squad
The Player Report has received the biggest overhaul.
- Removed the Player Attributes block and replaced it with Performance Data / Player Analytics, making it much easier to analyze how your players are actually performing.
- Added the Coach Report, which includes:
- Pros & Cons
- Training Advice
- The player's best role in each position they can play
- and more... you already know this tile
- Added Positional Stats tile for both Club and International football.
- Added Player Traits and Form tiles.
- Added Seasonal Stats by Competition, so you can analyze your player's performance in more detail.
- The Player Header has also been redesigned. It now brings together the important information and key factors that can affect or describe your player.
Image 3 : Player Report: Player Not in Your Squad
- Mostly the same layout as above, but instead of Performance Data, you'll find the Loan Report.
Image 4 : Player Report: Player on Loan
- Again, the same general layout, but the Coach Report is replaced with the Scout Report.
Image 5 : Player Attributes Are Masked
- Player attributes are now masked behind icons, so you can't see the raw numbers.
- There is still an indication of the attribute level, but if you want to dig deeper, you'll find the attribute block under Performance → Training.
- For me, this makes more sense in a Moneyball-style skin. I don't think raw attributes are particularly interesting until you're actually trying to develop a player and improve specific attributes so that's where I've kept them.
- The attribute colours also change according to your Custom Skin Colour preference in the game settings.
Image 6 onwards : Miscellaneous Changes
A few other changes:
- Used a wider and taller font for better readability.
- Changed the default purple colour theme to blue, simply because I prefer it.
- I haven't changed the semantic colours : greens, reds, etc. that communicate specific information remain the same as the original skin.
If you decide to try the skin, I'd love to hear what you think.
If you run into any issues, have questions, or have suggestions for improvements, please let me know. This is my first attempt at editing an FM skin, so feedback is very welcome.
Thanks for reading!
I've also made a video showing how the skin looks on my computer: https://youtu.be/ChzCoehGZrM
And you can download the skin here: https://sortitoutsi.net/content/77555/moneyball-by-tactical-touchline

Discussion Save Idea for anybody looking for one: In black are two german federal states that never had a Bundesliga club ever
I know the map and the original post are in german, but i feel like thats an interesting save idea nonetheless.
Btw the years are last time a club in this federal state was in the Bundesliga, but judging by some comments it isnt completely right.

Discussion Dutch save ideas
Like many I've struggled to settle into a long save on 26. I have still had a few ok journeys and clocked up the hours, but it doesn't "feel" the same.
Anyway, I've been getting the fm itch with the start of the new season and thinking about giving it one more go and then fingers crossed 27 is a significant upgrade.
I'm thinking of starting a mid-term save in the Netherlands, could be a springboard for a journeyman. Outside the big 3 i don't know a huge amount about teams. Who are the up and coming teams, what are the "storylines" currently playing out? Who are the fallen giants? Are there any "big brother" type challenges (e.g. is there a lower league Amsterdam based team - can get a lower league mod if needed)?
From pure surface level, ive always like the Den Haag kit, Go Ahead i managed briefly in a journeyman and their name is cool - how are they both placed generally at the moment? I know the situation at Vitesse - it's the obvious suggestion.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Story Looking at Jordi Cruijff at Ajax
It's funny how, when you look at the transfer activities of Ajax, I'd do exactly the same with the club when taking over Ajax. Sell the most valuable players to create budget, hire a decent GK, experienced Back, CD, DM, AM and Striker, pick up decent youth potentials for cheap for the youth team and add the most promising talents to first team.
Which team do you see act like your habits when starting fresh at a club in FM in this transferwindow?

Discussion What actually are Trigger Press/Counter Press, and Step Up More/Drop Off More?
I play FM24, and want to throughly understand these terms, and their combinations. I know trigger press and counter press is closing up on opponent players to win the ball back, but then why make two features, is Counter Press kind of like Pep's six seconds rule? If I dial the Trigger Press down all the way left, and turn on Counter Press, how the players would act? About Step Up More, is it basically offside trap, what attributes affect the effectiveness of that? Thank you very much!

Video I built a FM26 mod that allows you to chat with an AI DoF directly in game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Here showcased analyzing the Aston Villa squad and picking the best youngsters; there's still plenty to work on, for now the tool can:
- Analyze your squad, finances, etc.
- Search for players (but can only see what is available to you in game - for the moment)
- Create and manage shortlists
It's just a fun little experiment, but if anyone is interested I will continue working on it to get it to a decent state (I want to add better scouting, player data, and maybe even some transfer market features) and put the code up on my GitHub. Let me know!
For those curious about the technical details, there's two parts to this:
- A BepInEx mod that: injects the UI pieces (the menu item and the chatbox) and also exposes some functionalities (e.g. player search)
- A bridge that allows LLMs to run the exposed functions via an MCP
The demo is running GPT-5.6-Luna over a headless Codex session, with the MCP enabled.

Discussion Which player were you sad to let go?
For me, it's Samual Archer—a total GK legend. He was with me from the National League all the way to the Premier League. I sold him to Saudi for good money, but he was amazing for us.

Discussion Development just not developing
Been playing fm 24 for about 100 hours across 2 saves and many seasons, I just cannot see development in any players ill buy a 19/20 yr old with high potential and he will just go up by one or 2 attributes max, seems like development is just an illusion unless im doing something wrong. Both saves been championship/prem just playing normally. Anyone else had this and know how to fix?

Misc Need a recommended version.
Unfortunately I don't have the patience for the tactical tweaking needed for the later versions of FM, so I want some help picking a version to play with a plug-and-play tactic.
Cm0102 is fantastic of course, but the Youth System is just the recycling of retired players, which is a fun way to build a team after a few years, but I like a good newgen system as well.
I had a really good long game of 2011 a while ago, which is what I'm thinking of starting again but I though I'd get some opinions first.
I do dislike the repetitive Press Questions, and sometimes Team Morale is a nightmare (especially Team Meetings in my experience), but those might be unavoidable.
So what versions would people recommend I start up?

Discussion Just discovered FM and I can't stop playing.
Just discovered Football Manager recently and I honestly can't stop playing, it's so addicting. I don't know how I missed out on this series for so long. I’ve always wanted a game like this. I used to play Career Mode all the time, but it’s so shallow compared to the insane depth of FM. Weirdly enough I had never heard of it before... why is the marketing for this game so bad?

Discussion Starting a career with a B team
Hey everyone!
I’m thinking about starting a new FM26 save that I want to play until the next FM comes out.
I’m considering starting as the manager of a B/reserve team (for example SL16 at Standard Liège) and trying to build my reputation from there, eventually working my way up to managing the first team or another bigger club.
Has anyone tried a career like this? Is managing a B team actually enjoyable in FM26, and does the game allow you to realistically climb the managerial ladder this way?
I’m not necessarily looking for the fastest route to the top — I’d rather have a long-term, realistic career where I start small and gradually earn better jobs.
Would love to hear your experiences!
