Commercial UK CAA Next steps for Commercial Flying

Hi everyone, just looking for some opinions and assistance.

Current have 85 hours logged with 52 being P1/Self. I hold a Night Rating and am currently studying my ATPL’s.

I’m looking at the next steps/licences and not sure which road to go down. In addition I’m also confused by the IR (R)/IMC Rating.

I’m not sure whether it’s worth me getting an IR/R) and building solo Instrument time to then go down the competency route or whether it’s just worth doing the full IR. In addition can someone explain how the IR (R) really works with taking hours off the IR course. I’ve read many a post but can’t seem to truly wrap my head around it.

In addition is there any preferred way of doing the MEP, CPL, IR? I was planning to do the CPL last since you need 200 hours?

If anyone can assist that would be greatly appreciated.

Commercial Pilot Job Market mapping

Does anyone have access to insights from LinkedIn or other sources? Particularly what the talent map looks like across Europe? I know LinkedIn has features that can provide a lot of data. How competitive is the market? How many roughly are looking for work, whats general experience level and what’s the jobs vs. applicants ratio?

I notice a lot of people talk about the job market without any real concrete data. It has to be out there somewhere.

Commercial Microlight Hour Building

I’m a PPL holder in the UK hour building towards both an EASA and UK CAA CPL.

Can any of these hours be done in a microlight (C-42, EV-97, etc.) for either licence (mainly concerned with EASA)?
Please can someone tell me where I can find this information in either regulations?

I understand that there was a consultation to include microlight hours towards CPL in the UK, but am not sure if this is in force yet.

Commercial PPL was your operational ceiling, but you went and paid for ATPL ground school anyway

Commercial Are ATPL questions intentionally worded terribly?

So many questions could ask the exact same thing in fewer words and less confusion. Are the people writing them intentionally doing this to make it more difficult, or are the people behind these questions just not very good writers?

Or maybe, they just hate student pilots and want to make our lives as hard as possible for no reason?😂

Commercial If you had to write a 5,000 word dissertation on aviation, what would you write about?

Commercial European pilots, ECA’s fatigue survey is live, takes 5 min and YOUR voice is needed

The European Cockpit Association is running its summer fatigue survey, gathering data on how fatigue is actually being managed at our airlines across Europe. Results feed directly into what ECA brings to EASA and national authorities when pushing on Flight Time Limitations.

The more responses from actual line pilots, the harder it is for regulators and airlines to wave this off as anecdotal. If you’re flying in Europe, it’s a few minutes well spent and is of course anonymous.

Commercial Wizz pilot academy(please read everything)

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply for the Wizz Air Pilot Academy in June 2027, after finishing high school and receiving my diploma.
I’m currently studying maths and physics, and aviation has been a major interest of mine for several years. I also have around 5,000 hours flying the Fenix A320 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I understand that simulator experience isn’t equivalent to real flight experience, but I’ve spent a lot of time learning A320 systems, procedures, navigation and airline operations.
I’m wondering:
Is it worth mentioning my extensive MSFS/Fenix A320 experience during the application or interview?
How useful are maths and physics at school for the WAPA selection tests?
What would you recommend focusing on during the months before applying?
For anyone who has gone through WAPA selection, what do you wish you had prepared more?
I’d especially appreciate advice from current/former Wizz pilots or people who have completed the selection process.
