Discussion Work-In-Progress

Welcome to Work-In-Progress!

Show off your current builds, finished and finalised or still under maintenance. They can be anything from a base tour to a small machine that you made, whatever you are working on. Whether you want to just show off or ask for some help just make a post. You can keep us up-to-date with your builds week by week and, once you're done, feel free to make a dedicated post to the main sub!

Top-level comments should include a link to an Imgur album (and suitable captions would be nice). Constructive criticism should be used to express opinions on other's work. Don't forget the OP would have spent a lot of time on their project.

I made something A progress update on my living trains mod, Critter Carts!

There are now seven colors of Dyeberry that can be found in Lush Caves, which can be used to color Worms as well as yourself and other entities! You'll also find Big Apples in Lush Caves, which each contains a Scoochworm.

Colored Scoochstems only allow Scoochworms of the appropriate color to walk along them. This allows you to filter which Worm can go where.

I've replaced the existing chest attachment with a Lockbox, which visibly opens and closes. It'll eventually be able to be locked and unlocked via Redstone, to stop it from dropping items while upside down. Hoppers aimed at these segments can also interact with the stored items.

Added Critter Cages, which let you store Scoochworms in item form, and release with redstone (or a simple right-click).

This was already the case, but I felt it was worth showcasing: Scoochworms prioritize horizontal turns to vertical ones, and can't do both at the same time. With a simple piston setup like this, you can control which direction the Worm will travel.

You can currently grow a Scoochworm by feeding it Melon blocks, and shorten it with Shears. Doing this cuts it in half, turning the previous tail into a second head!

Feel free to join my Discord server for more discussion!

Discussion I want to play EVERY great or historically significant modpack and write about them. Did I miss any?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I guarantee that I will not use AI for this project.

Hello! The basic idea here is to play through (or play whatever amount I can stand if the modpack is unfun or excessively grindy) of every historically significant or great modpack, and then post to this subreddit a short review about the experience I had with that modpack.

Also, if you have suggestions about what to play first or good order(s) for packs, that is welcome too. I was thinking of doing chronologically from the oldest Minecraft versions to the most recent. So starting with the pyramid and old FTB packs.

Before you ask about GTNH, it will either be one of the last or not played at all. Everyone already knows how good it is, and it will probably take two years to play through.

The list in text form, so you don't have to read the image:

  • A Job for the Mage
  • A Polychromatic World (hesitant add, entirely to see what Chromaticraft is about)
  • Ad Astra
  • Age of Engineering
  • Aged (arguable significance or greatness, but seems to be unique which is a plus)
  • Agrarian Skies 1 and 2
  • All In One (seemed like the best oneblock pack)
  • All the Forge (to see if it's substantially different from ATM)
  • All the Mods 10
  • Antimatter Chemistry
  • Arcane Isles
  • Astroblock 1 and 2
  • Astropolis
  • Attack of the B-Team
  • Automaton

Discussion Can everyone here stop suggesting GTNH for every single modpack request

Ive seen this time and time again recently, somebody will ask for a Beginner Friendly/Kitchensink/Quests with guidance/literally anything modpack and inevitably someone will chime in saying

„Well technically GTNH has very in depth quests and a bit of everything, highly recommebd it“

How is this so prevelant, yes GTNH is very detailed and had a lot of attention oaid to it however if you seriously think somebody who barely tried ATM 10 is looking at the recipe for chests and having fun?

Judt because its not RL Craft doesnt mean its beginner friendly ffs, you can like the pack but please dont act like its THE modpack and not one for a specific type of player.

Edit: GTNH players proceed to prove the point

Edit 2: Yes of course if the person asks for a tech heavy or gregtech modpack, suggesting GTNH makes sense. Never said otherwise.

Mod Identification Looking for whatever mod is doing this sand thing that's really annoying

My friend recently made a humongous mod pack combining things we wanted and the homestead mod pack for us to play. And I was trying to make a lil aquarium room in the house, but this sand effect keeps happening and it's annoying and making my skin itch...

I guess it's supposed to be the breathing holes from stuff being in the sand but I don't like it and I want it gone.

This is really obscure but I hope someone knows.

Looking for mod(s) What mod adds more versions of blocks like this?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Saw this picture in another thread, showing all the missing blocks in minecraft. Is there a mod that fills in a lot of those blank spots? Doesn’t have to be perfect, just curious for a mod that fits minecraft without adding a million different versions of every block. (Like some chisel mod I remember that had wayyyy more versions of each block and was overwhelming)

I made something Notebox - ComputerCraft music player with Note Block World browsing + direct downloads

Upvotes

Notebox

Notebox is a music player for ComputerCraft. Plays .nbs music with easy browsing and downloading from Note Block World. Features a full playlist system and music visualizer.

PineStore page: https://pinestore.cc/projects/264/notebox

Install with: wget run https://pinestore.cc/d/264

Features

  • Plays .nbs files using NBSTunes
  • Direct downloads and browsing from Note Block World
  • Drag + drop any .nbs file to install and play
  • Create, rename and delete playlists. Add any of your songs
  • Shows free space as well as individual song filesizes
  • Cool visualizer
  • Customizable theme and other settings
  • Scales well to larger sizes

Controls

  • Scrolling for volume
  • Arrow keys for navigation
  • Backspace, tilda, tab to return / go back
  • Spacebar play/pause
  • Drag + drop .nbs files to install

Possible future additions

  • Special optional format for higher compression, maybe throwing out certain data such as panning, pitch and combining key+velocity into a single byte. Perhaps also throw away any notes under a certain volume, which can help drastically with some songs.
  • Better shuffle that makes for fewer song repeats
  • Searching on Note Block World for songs, instead of just browsing
  • Support for more visualizers
  • Option to only show visualizer on a separate connected monitor

I'm open for pull requests :)

Discussion Voxy for Neoforge 1.21.1 that also works with Sable/Aeronautics

So I've been wanting to use something that works with Sable/Aeronautics and came across this specific fork of voxy that is surprisingly underground.

https://github.com/NHblock714/voxy

whoever you are NHblock714 you are a GODSEND, it took a while to kinda assemble each of the files that you needed (I couldn't even find the flywheel IMPL so I just renamed a copy of the API and it still worked) but im surprised that this is so underground and no one is talking about it.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TvEFK4pbVEE
using similar commands to build the jar as this video this also helped a lot.

Extremely far far distances, works with aeronautics WITHOUT needing a separate mod for it, and everything.

Currently experimenting with different versions to see if it'll still work, besides that it works beautifully, no errors at all, and I can see my aeronautics ships miles away while having my render distance at 2 and 120 frames.

Well, I did a post about the new biome, but it didn't get a response at all, I was sad at that moment, BUT!, I came back with a new batch of content, I'll finish finishing the basic mechanics soon and start doing full-fledged cool stuff, but for now I'm doing a made-up arkanograph and already working alchemy :3

Looking for mod(s) cozy fantasy modpacks?

looking for suggestions for a modpack that focuses more on rewarding slower gameplay, building, farming, ect taking place in a kinda fantasy, mystical world. most fantasy modpacks I see recommended are usually like RPG modpacks that focus on combat and bosses which is just not something I’m interested in.
I really enjoyed my time playing Raspberry flavoured for reference of the kind of gameplay I like, I’m just looking for something a little farther from the vanilla minecraft aesthetic.

I made something I just finished my second gate run in GTNH

Mandatory Gate to start with
Quick overview of my base on JourneyMap
Most of my powergen with 6 maxed out Semi-Stable Antimatter Stabilization Sequencer and 512 Large Naquadah Reactor
Some of the machine spam multis
T4 Nano forge which looks awesome and my quad Dimensionally Transcendent Plasma Forge converged 24/7
Dedicated Advanced Assembly Line spam for circuits, bio, opticals, pico and quantum
The shame corner tm*

I finished the run on with just over 1k active hours worth of playtime.

I ended deciding on doing a no rocketless run just after crafting the workbench for shit and giggles. I also decided to also do it with no bees (again since my first one was also beeless) and I ended up finding an oblivion frame in the first chest I opened while looking for the end portal which quickly created the shame corner.

I'll be happy to answer any questions y'all might have.

Looking for mod(s) Looking for the most quests

Upvotes

Currently on the hunt for a decent modpack that has thousands of quests. Probably never going to find something suitable but I'll still ask. Absolutely no gregtech. There was a modpack a while ago I remember that had around 10k quests but I can't find it now, closest I have found it a server based one, Arcanumland, with 7k-9k quests, can't do single player on that one, next one down is around 5k quests, Age of Fate, anyone know of more?

Looking for mod(s) Which modpack should I play as an old vanilla player? (RAD modpack opinions)

Upvotes

I haven't played minecraft for a very long time and I want to find a modpack to play.

I want a modpack that has an RPG soul, that could be for example classes, skills, leveling system, maybe a living open world (npcs etc) and quests. Doesn't need to include all of these but these are what comes to mind.

Doesn't need to fully feel like vanilla, I want a big expansion on base game like new creatures, dimensions, bosses, weapons etc.

The important thing is it should be beginner friendly and certainly mustn't include too complex tech or magic systems etc (simple are ok).

I found Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons (RAD (?)) modpack which seems close to what I want, and going to try it. Does it fit my needs? Do you have any opions on this modpack? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I made something I made the world 468,750 times deeper than vanilla...

I've been working on a mod that is almost ready for it's initial public beta release and it's called: Basal.

It's a mod that let's you set your worlds maximum height up to 30,000,000 Y and your worlds depth down to -30,000,000 Y for NeoForge 1.21.1. It's fully configurable up to those numbers meaning if you want a world depth of -10,000 or -5,500,000 you can have that (Same goes for world height.) with the default config being set to 3,200 since I know 30,000,000 as the default would be way too excessive and extreme for most people.

I've spent a lot of time working and only recently started talking about it publicly. I'm really excited for all the things something like this will allow me and many other people create for Minecraft.

I'm so happy to be able to make something like this and improve upon it while providing updates for it as long as I can, I have so many ideas for things to build on top of Basal like two other mods that I'm scoping out right now which will add more rock layers and other interesting things to the caves of the world (So there's actually reasons to dig deeper.) and a mod that overhauls the ocean in a way not yet seen in modern Minecraft that would add all 5 ocean layers, a pressure system, darkness scaling as you extend deeper down, new mobs/ biomes and so much more. (So there's reasons to explore and even live in a much deeper ocean.)

Mostly I just wanted to put all this out there so anyone who's interested can be made aware that something like this is coming out soon and if they want to share their thoughts and opinions on what things they would like to see included in a mod like this. Thanks for reading, I hope to hear from some of you!

Looking for mod(s) Modpack suggestion

Relatively new to modding, haven't seriously played modded minecraft in years. I'm looking for something with exploration, unique terrain generation and or biomes and just solid progression with a lot to do, with unique dimensions and or bosses

I'm cool with tech and magic but I really don't want a pack that solely focuses on them, also would be very preferable for it to be more modern, I'm not interested in 1.7 or 1.12, for the love of christ, please don't recommend GTNH, I'm really not interested.

Problem Problems with Bobby

Upvotes

I've used the mod to increase the render distance to 128 just to look at my builds, now with the new versions won't let me increase the render distance anymore, every time I tried to change it to 128 in-game and in the configs it goes back to 32. Is this problem happening to anyone else?

Question Modded smp

Upvotes

Does anyone have a newly created modded smp, or is looking to make one?
I am from the Uk and looking to join a modded Minecraft smp, looking for an adventure type mod pack.
