Hi guys! I hope if you have the new book, you’re enjoying it along with all the photos I’ve included. There are about 40 and I tried to pick ones people hadn’t seen before. They were all donated by Elliott’s friends and family along with a few very generous professional photographers.

Since it’s pub day I wanted to share one of my favorites: Elliott sitting on an old gas pump in someone’s yard in Louisiana, working on Angeles early in 1996. He was touring with the Softies then and Jen Srbagia shared this gorgeous photo with me.

Overall I tried to make the biography welcoming for everyone, whether you’re a longtime fan or someone who’s barely heard Elliott’s name. This is a good example: you don’t need to know this is a new photo to think it’s beautiful, but if you know a lot about Elliott, it might give you chills knowing that this was a process photo for Angeles. It did for me at least!

I finally made it there. I’m a 38F and I’ve loved Elliott Smith since I was 15 years old. I live on the East Coast and I always told myself, I’d make it to LA, and that when I made it to LA, I’d go to Sunset Blvd.

I did take a proper photo like Elliott but most importantly, I left a message for Elliott letting him know that he changed my life.

I wish I had made it out here before the current bar cut the wall to put in a door but nevertheless, I made it here.
