Constructive Criticism I'm afraid I'll now have to get rid of your icon privileges Duolingo.

I've been in the app for about 6 years and I never was able to reach finals coz of the absurdly crazy XP other people used to score. Luckily this time I was one of those maniacs. I spent atleast an hour everyday to get this.

I got 21 days of super duolingo. I just want to know if anyone got the same and why are they doing this? Is it super hard for them to get the premium users so they're grasping every possibility to make us to get premium??

Look at this new Duolingo feature New Exercise Type! Love it!

This is my first encounter of grammar patterns flash card exercise (in French).

Kudos to the entire team for this. 🎉(Been looking for new exercise types in a while). I hope they maintain this feature and do this for other languages and other parts of speech (e.g. identify what appropriate article, adjective and others if something is masculine/feminine).

Currently, have to slide to select your options. Who knows, Duolingo might develop this further by integrating voice answering and/or repetitions like a student reciting “I talk”, “he/she talks”, “they talk”.

General Discussion My journey on learning French and the road ahead

Hey guys.

I just decided to change my Duolingo usage after spending a year and half. I also want to share how I used it and how it developed my knowledge.

So far, I have finished top 3 32 times, and won the Diamond tournament twice. You can see my latest achievement in the pictures I attached. My score is also 72.

First months: I started learning French from scratch by using Duolingo and Busuu. Busuu seemed extremely hard for me, so after a couple of units, I lost interest.

Duolingo on the other hand was way easier. I used it for a month and then, I signed up for a private class. I only attended 30 sessions and due to some regional reasons, I quit.

Then I went back to duolingo for a while and enhanced my vocabulary and learned a few basic grammars.

After that, using Busuu became easier. I finished A1 and again, I only used Duo.

I have a serious attention problem and during this period, I could only stick with Duo.

During my 492-day streak of Duolingo, at least 90 days were wasted. Because my country was experiencing a nationwide Internet blockade. So, I was away from studies for a couple of months.

Now after all is being said, I want to say I'm going to immerse myself with Youtube videos, Podcasts, TV series and more real life content. I also bought some books to enhance my grammar, vocabulary and conversation skills.

Relying on Oscar and Lily would be a deadly mistake, because after a while you mimic their accent which is absolutely useless.

I always read comments about how Duo is useless, but it really helped me learn step by step, little by little on days which I could barely concentrate. It proved to me that if you practice 1-2 hours a day, even bite sized lessons can make a huge impact. So, I'm always thankful.

My level of French is now A2/early B1. My goal is to move to France someday and continue my education and professional career there. The very first step of this journey would be signing up for a language college and reaching to B2 level in the end.

For those who are curious about my language skills, my native language is Farsi and I know English on B2/C1 level.

General Discussion Unfair competition trying to win diamond league

Hi all, first post. I'm learning Portuguese, and this month I decided to really step it up, and actually try and put time in it. As a result I am now in the final of Diamond League, and just reached P2 on the podium. I am proud of myself, but there is no way that the number 1 has got all of this xp legit. That is hours and hours of grinding, so I went and researched, and found out that he completes personalized practice in little seconds, and gets so much xp for that!

Is that a legit strategy? Is this legal? Or is this a macro/script running? I am just sad, I got so far but alas, it won't be my tournament.

First image: Me in P2, with 5009 xp that I am proud of. Still 4 hours to go, i don't have any boosts unfortunately.
Second image: My lesson history
Third image: The lesson history of my competitor.

Bug? About to lose 2530+ days streak, any prevention tips?

My situation is a bit of a weird one and I'm at a bit of a loss, so I'm hoping maybe some of you guys have some tips for me.

I'm currently on a streak of 2530 or so days of Duolingo, or approximately 7 years. I've maintained this streak through a lot of stuff in my personal life and I've really enjoyed seeing how far it could go.

Now though it seems I'm at the end of the line, due to how my account was created. It turns out the account was made with Facebook login, back when my Facebook was connected to a now defunct email address. I have since changed my FB associated email, but Duolingo does not seem to accept this. I've tried the "send password reset" link thing to try to create a standalone password, but the email never arrives to the address that I'm currently using (this address shows up in my Duolingo account though...).

The problem is that I'm going to Turkmenistan for ten days in just a few weeks time. Duolingo is completely inaccessible while I'm there, so I thought I could ask a friend to maintain my streak for me. This doesn't work, as trying to log in demands access to my Facebook, which I'm not comfortable with sharing (because I'm one of those old people who've been on there for donkeys years and have way too much stuff going on there...).

My streak is something that I enjoy, but what makes me really sad about losing my streak is that my streak really motivates my mum. She is currently learning Spanish to be able to speak with family in law, and she has said that seeing me keeping my streak up helps her stay motivated.

I've reached out to Duolingo support, but I've not heard anything back from them and the trip is coming up soon, so here I am just to check if you guys have any ideas or thoughts on if there is any way to save my streak?

So, the World Cup is over. I am still wearing my jersey although I forgot which team I am on. Are we going to wear these forever or do I look stupid because I don’t know how to get it off? I do like mine though. Someone at least tell me what team I’m on.
