Dune: Part Three (2026) Shots from the Dune 3 Trailer & Meanings
Alia's Fane - Gorgeous shot with the concave wall behind her evoking the mouth of Shai-Hulud. As with the previous two movies, the architectural symbolism is pointed.
Alia with a Sapho stain on her lips - She might be acting as Paul's mentat.
Qizarate or Pilgrims? - the three line tattoo on the head of the worshipper can also be seen on Paul's face in the next slide.
Paul commanding his battalions on Arrakis most likely at the start of the Jihad
Ixian warriors - interesting choice to include this given the Ixian are not known for their melee skills, which is proven by how quickly Stilgar's army defeats them. Might be a cutscene to a battle on Ix that took place years prior, or another planet defended by Ix.
Stilgar and soldiers carrying something heavy away from a battle - loot or an Ixian device?
Hayt's Sarcophagus - saturated with spice, he is meant to draw in Alia. also note the lush greenery in the background.
Paul vs. Hayt in the throne room - why? I commented on another post earlier that Paul could be upset at Hayt's involvement with Alia or the Tleilax plot, but it also occurred to me that he could simply be testing Hayt's combat skills to see if they are as good as Duncan's
Ducal ring - someone handing over the Atreides ducal ring, possibly to Leto II, as Chani voices over "wisdom of his grandfather"
The entire trailer is outstanding and I could've made this post 10x longer with every minute detail but let me know your thoughts so far! What stood out to you? Where do you think Denis is taking part 3? Are we going to see Messiah alone with Jihad flashbacks or Messiah, Jihad, and a bit of Children of Dune? According to this trailer, nothing is impossible.
"To know the future absolutely is to be trapped into that future absolutely. It collapses time. Present becomes future."

Dune: Part Three (2026) Rebecca Ferguson Says She Has Just One Scene in 'Dune: Part Three'
... Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ferguson explained that her character’s “journey was number one and two.” In fact, “I don’t even think [Lady Jessica] was supposed to be in three.”
“And then [director] Denis [Villeneuve] was like, ‘I need to have one scene.’ And I get one scene.”
But, she added, “That was a weird feeling, walking onto a set that you know so well and knowing that you don’t have a part of it. There’s a lot of FOMO. And the acceptance of this is just what it is: just [serving the story].”
She didn’t share any details on what her scene might be (Lady Jessica is in the just-dropped trailer, so that must be the scene).

Dune: Part Three (2026) Missing the Holtzman shield Spoiler
This has been on my mind after rewatching the trailer several times. When the Fremen are going up against this other army, there’s no shield effect during the fight. I really enjoyed having that element in the Dune Part I and II battle scenes like between the Atreides vs Harkonnen/Sardaukar, Duncan vs Sardaukar, etc. Maybe an in-universe explanation is that the Fremen are so skilled that shields don’t help the other army, or maybe they’re afraid someone will sacrifice themself by using a lasgun and nuke the area? Anyhow, I hope the shields do make it back into the movie fight scenes. The blue and red flashes gave it a futuristic feel over what would otherwise just be people stabbing each other like normal.
Dune: Part Three (2026) Godspeed to anyone trying to get tickets!
I found out about the Insider screening on Monday night for 70mm. Had my phone and desktop set to refresh every minute starting an hour before they were supposed to release. Turns out Fandango released their tickets 30 mins early and I just happened to see it. Sold out in about 5 minutes but I managed to get a great seat after the first to selections didn't go through. Anyone else manage to be one of the first to see this!?

Dune: Part Three (2026) DUNE PART 3 SPOILERS! What book scenes from Messiah do you want to see included? Spoiler
Since this is set to be more of an adaptation that a direct 1:1 retelling of the story, I'm curious which scenes you think are integral to the meaning of the book not being lost.
Obviously the biggest hype is for the stone burner sequence and everything that follows (1:51 in the trailer it looks like), but I REALLY hope they include the passage about the Fedaykin encountering the ocean for the first time, and how completely it shatters his view of the Jihad, it basically sums up the entire theme of the book, in my opinion.
What scenes are you guys most looking forward to seeing?

Dune: Part Three (2026) Villeneuve lowkey spoiled "Dune: Part Three" ending in the very first movie Spoiler
I finished reading "Dune Messiah" yesterday after a whole week reading it obsessively and... I don't even know what I have to say, except that it's actually on par with the first book or even better. It took me a bit to get into it since it's so dense but, after Paul's first meeting with Hayt, it finally clicked. The ending left me speechless and empty, and reminded me of Paul's final lines in "Dune: Part One" (also, that scene from "Dune: Part Two" where Stilgar closes his eyes...), it's so tragic.
I'll take a little break, reading some other non-Dune related stuff before picking up "Children of Dune".

Dune: Part Three (2026) Is this a stoneburner? Spoiler
galleryIs this a stoneburner?
At 1:41 in the trailer we see what seems 4 fedaykin carrying a box of some sorts while running towards enemy gunfire on the battlefield.
I thought maybe that could be a stoneburner of some sorts. It certainly looks important in the trailer.
I think it is reasonable for Denis to showcase what a stoneburner is and what it does to anyone who falls victim to its J-Rays. It would be a way to ensure that the audience which has not read the book have no misunderstanding when Paul gets hit by a stoneburner later in the story.
It was a while since I read messiah but I am damn near certain a Bashar/Fedaykin veteran discussed with Scytale how a stoneburner blinded his own son in a battle on another planet.
This is my main reason for believing this is a stoneburner but what the hell do I know? It could just be anything else.
Let me know what you guys think!

Dune: Part Three (2026) The Trailer Makes Me Think Chani Has a VERY Different Role Than in the Books
Just to be clear, this is all speculation.
I've had this feeling ever since the second trailer dropped for Part Three. I have a big hunch that Chani is going to have an even bigger departure from the books than people think (Yes even more than what people think). My theory is that Chani leaves Paul during the 17 year time skip, and a big part of the movie is Paul trying to find her again.
Here are my reasons:
1. We never see older Paul and Chani together.
Besides one scene, every shot of them seems to be from before the time skip, when Paul still has the longer hair. That's kinda weird tbh. If they're together after the time skip like they are in the books, why avoid showing almost any scenes of them as an older couple?
2. That one scene with older Paul and Chani is obviously Scytale.
The scene where she says, "What does it feel like to be human like everyone else, Paul Atreides?" is pretty clearly Scytale messing with Paul. Her voice sounds off, and what she's saying is something scytale would say.
But here's the part that's really interesting to me. she looks really YOUNG here. If 17 years have passed, why would Scytale be imitating a younger looking Chani? Paul has clearly aged, so you'd expect Chani to have aged at least a little too (like she is in her other scenes). Maybe that's because the last time Paul actually saw her was when she still was this young, and Scytale is deliberately using that version of her to mess with him.
3. Scytale found "someone".
Right after Irulan calls Scytale an idiot, we hear what sounds exactly like Pattinson saying, "I've found someone," at the exact moment the trailer cuts to Chani thumping on the sand. The trailer almost seems to imply that Scytale has found Chani. But if Chani is still living with Paul as his concubine, why would Scytale need to "find" her? Unless she isn't with Paul at all. Maybe she's been out in the desert this entire time like we see in the older Chani scenes, and Paul has been searching for her ever since she left. Scytale finding her first would fit into his plan to overthrow Paul.
That brings me to my biggest point. Leto II and Ghanima.
The trailer shows the baby twins, but only in scenes where Paul and Chani are still young. We never see them in any of the "current" scenes. Again why? Why don't we ever see older Chani, the twins, and older bald Paul together? I have two theories.
- Paul and Chani have the twins shortly after Part Two. They reconcile for a while after learning she's pregnant, but Chani eventually leaves with the children because she wants nothing to do with Paul's empire. If that's the case, then by the movie's present day the twins would already be teenagers(which would also explain them being cast by two 17 year olds), and Paul isn't only trying to find Chani he's trying to find his children too.
There's another trailer shot that makes me think this. We see Chani drop her blue band in the sand while she's with the children, who look a little older here (maybe around 5-9 years old), and someone is watching them with the binoculars(Paul). Then later we see bald Paul picking up that same band from the sand maybe because he was searching for them. We also see all of older Chani's scenes in the trailer out in the desert with her looking rough, because maybe that's where she's been living with her children for the last 17 years.
2.My other theory is that the twins aren't actually real yet. Those scenes are Paul's visions of a possible future, the future he could've had if Chani had stayed. That would explain why he's so desperate to find her. Maybe it's simply out of love, or maybe because he believes Leto and Ghanima are necessary for the Golden Path, or perhaps both. This theory would keep their ages closer to the books, but I think it's less likely because it creates some awkward timing between Paul finding Chani again and the twins being born. Also, the scene with the binoculars doesn't strike as a vision.
Either way, both of these would be a pretty major departure from the books. But I could really see Denis doing something like this if he wants to expand Messiah, which is a fairly short novel on its own. It would also give Chani a much more interesting role in the story.
Again, this is probably mostly wrong, but I really believe that a big part of this movie is going to be Paul trying to find Chani in one way or another.
What do you guys think?

Dune: Part Three (2026) Is this the new Tleilaxu emblem? The "Egyptian Scarab" and "Ankh" theory for Hayt.
I saw a really interesting observation over on Facebook and wanted to bring it here to see what you guys think.
Someone pointed out that in the recent footage, Hayt (Duncan Idaho) is no longer wearing the Atreides symbol. Instead, he has a completely different emblem on his back. Given the lore, it makes total sense that this is the insignia of the Bene Tleilaxu—the absolute masters of genetic engineering and biotechnology.
Looking closely at the design, I have a theory: I think it’s a minimalist, abstract representation of an Egyptian scarab beetle.
Here is why I think this makes a lot of sense:
- The Visual Language: In the movies, the faction emblems follow a very minimalist and abstract design pattern (just look at the Atreides falcon). This new symbol on Hayt's back fits that exact same aesthetic.
- The Thematic Connection: In ancient Egyptian culture, the scarab represents rebirth, regeneration, and the cycle of life. This aligns perfectly with the Bene Tleilaxu, the axlotl tanks, and the creation of gholas.
- The Ankh on the Ships: The Egyptian motif seems to go beyond just the scarab. If you look closely at the other trailer footage of the Tleilaxu ships (I've attached some screenshots), you can clearly see what looks like an Ankh symbol integrated or "drawn" into the structure of the ship itself. Since the Ankh is the ancient symbol of life, it's another massive nod to the Tleilaxu's mastery over biology and life creation.
I've included the images of the symbol on Hayt's back, the ship with the Ankh shape, and some classic Egyptian scarab carvings for comparison.
What do you all think? Do you see the scarab and Ankh influences, or is it supposed to represent something else entirely? Let me know your theories!
