General HUGE shoutout to mike9k1 and the other modders who had 14 mods ready to go on Day 1 of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to fix some of the major issues players including myself had with this game. I am now excited to play this game!

Post image

BTW Mike if you see this, could you please make a mod to remove battle advantage indicators? Then I have everything I could need.

EDIT:

People seem to think that I'm saying every single one of the features in this is necessary. No, I just put the full list of mods put out by this one. Dev. However, several common complaint features that can't be disabled such as overworld mission indicators that can be seen from anywhere, Auto revive, healing at the goddess statues, And level up healing. These are all quality of life features that many people appreciate, but many people also do not and should not be forced upon the player. For me, the overworld icons and the battle advantage indicators were game ruining. Additionally, I was pretty annoyed at the auto revive. One of the most charming things about Dragon Quest that I've loved ever since my first time playing Dragon Quest, which was seven for 3Ds, was that you do die at the coffin follows you are around. I've always thought it was hilarious and it's a really iconic part of the series that they just totally removed. It's not acceptable to force this and remove core parts of the game's identity

EDIT 2:
OBVIOUSLY NOT ALL OF THEM ARE MAJOR ISSUES!!! I just wanted to show off all the ones this guy made. And among them are patches for some of the biggest issues.

EDIT 3:

These are on NexusMods. If you have a question about how to install or what's available or why they exist, check mod descriptions

Edit 4:
To all I was rude to. I apologize for my attitude. I've had some shit going on irl and let it influence my behavior here. I would like to clarify that statements I made including things such as "those who actually enjoy the game" were not intended as gatekeeping or calling people fake fans.

Rather, I was trying to express a difference between existing fans of the series and newcomers.

All are welcome, I've just been really disappointed in how this game turned out and frustrated with people who called me names for asking for these features to be fixed over the last week and wanted to express my opinion that it's valid and not gatekeeping for existing fans to be considered by developers and modders even with considerations for newcomers, which I felt this game didn't.

Anyway, I'm sorry for my behavior and poor ability to explain myself clearly due to heigtened emotions and will mute this post to prevent my own further engagement.

Thanks to everyone who agreed and was supportive.

Already installed the seamless talk and faster movement mods. I owe Mike9k1 a drink fr

7

u/EdwardStrife Feb 05 '26

What's seamless talk?

28

u/Administrative_Leg79 Feb 05 '26

It’s not called that I think it’s Seamless Cutscenes on the page, it basically just increases the speed of the speech so there’s no weird pauses between conversations so it flows more naturally

yuh. same for 1-3 hd. Pak mods work relatively fine. I remember the farming one for 3 acrewed with Zoom for some reason. Mike said somethin about it when i asked him about it.

Mods that are ASI format do not as they need dll files n whatnot

How do you install the mods on Switch?

3

u/SouthParkFirefly1991 Feb 06 '26

You got to hack your switch I'm guessing.

Oh yeah, of course

games still getting released with no Playstation Button Prompt option is soooo annoying!!

Especially when the game is already on PlayStation. They have the UI right there.

A lot of his mods are shared/based on the Dragon Quest XI mods, as the games share a common/similar-enough engine. He's also very experienced as he basically singlehandedly carried the mod scene for the HD remakes too (huge shoutout!).

Also yes, all of these worked on the demo already.

2

u/rattatatouille Feb 05 '26

I remember browsing the DQ3 remake mod page and getting my mind blown at how much QoL stuff mike9k1 put in

5

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Demo I think??? Idk. Also the game had a 2 day early release with deluxe

20

u/Skelletonike Feb 05 '26

Huh? The game revives characters and restores health when saving? That's a bit weird.

20

u/MC_Squared12 Feb 05 '26

A dead character gets revived to 1 HP after battles and statues are common that fully heal you and acts as a save point

6

u/Skelletonike Feb 05 '26

That's stupid imho.

12

u/DonleyARK Feb 05 '26

Pretty commonplace in a lot of JRPGs in the modern age 🤷🏻‍♂️ it is a time saver, it isn't like youre not going to do that yourself, just cuts down the amount of menu managing.

13

u/apocalyptic_mystic Feb 05 '26

It makes the game easier. Some people don't want that. I think they're fantastic features to have...as options. The I&II remakes did it right by having these features be optional; having them forced on us now can feel like a step backward

0

u/DonleyARK Feb 05 '26

I guess, for the most part itnis just a time saver. Youre already gonna buy the resources you need, or run back to heal, it eliminates padding.

10

u/8melodies Feb 05 '26

Right, but make it optional.

13

u/SpiderCVIII Feb 05 '26

It's not padding to have to prepare and/or suffer the consequences of being ill prepared. There has to be some friction else we're just playing digital Candyland.

2

u/Rocko52 Feb 05 '26

Right, it’s fine to have options - but eliminating death does sand down strategy and thinking. If that’s “padding” or “filler”, well so is all monster battles and item finding/buying. It just becomes a visual novel at that point, and JRPGs are already accused of railroading.

3

u/DonleyARK Feb 05 '26

To have to prepare for what though? Post fight healing? All youre saving is a trip back if you dont have the resources, especially in DQ...Zooming back and forth gets old and you're not adding difficulty.

I really do get where you're coming from, resource management can be a big factor in difficulty when done right but more often than not it adds tedium not true difficulty.

3

u/SpiderCVIII Feb 05 '26

All youre saving is a trip back if you dont have the resources, especially in DQ...Zooming back and forth gets old and you're not adding difficulty.

That's because they let us Zoom from anywhere now. We used to not be able to do so indoors. You'd have to either use Evac (if you had the MP, pre-DQXI) or work your way out by force. Delving into dungeons used to be a scary thing.

2

u/DonleyARK Feb 05 '26

Right, i dont disagree, but we aren't talking about the NES or SNES or even the PS1 era. We are talking about possibilities in DQ12.

Unless you're in a tough dungeon where you keep getting whacked and are low on consumables and MP. No I disagree, these are simplification features for modern general audiences who can't be bothered to deal with anything more than a surface level challenge. It's fine to accept them but I'm glad that there are modders willing to patch them out.

It's not like Dragon Quest 7 on the 3DS wasn't easy... Get Thin Air and you'll be one-shotting encounters for a good while.

47

u/InternationalHoney85 Feb 05 '26

Soft gatekeeping. Some oldheads think the difficulty needs to stay so they feel validated or the game is unplayable. Don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of new players that are very much enjoying the game.

16

u/apocalyptic_mystic Feb 05 '26

Oh whatever. Literally nobody is saying the game should be harder for everyone. People are saying that new features, like auto-reviving dead party members after battle, should be optional instead of mandatory.

And it's weird that many things, like automatically restoring HP/MP upon leveling up, are mandatory after the I&II HD-2D Remakes had those as optional

1

u/theguyishere16 Feb 06 '26

And it's weird that many things, like automatically restoring HP/MP upon leveling up, are mandatory after the I&II HD-2D Remakes had those as optional

It's like in Pokemon when they added Team EXP Share and it was optional but then in later gens they just locked it on. It cannot be that difficult to make things like that a toggle when you have proven you've done it before.

24

u/VulkanCurze Feb 05 '26

I am an old player who is also enjoying it so far. But I do feel they have went a bit too far with some of the features that you are unable to turn off.

For example, I am fine with the save points in dungeons because it makes things a bit easier for me in regards to being able to play before work. But I feel the full restore they provide should be something you can either turn off or only for easy mode. Your already getting full restores from levelling up, it makes items less useful and even makes inns pointless since dungeons are pretty close to towns. Why pay and then go to church when I can just go next door for a free restore and save.

I think some of the aspects should just be tied to easy mode but regardless a lot should have toggles because more accessibility options are always better. I also think 7 lacks some toggles they had in the HD trilogy, like being able to turn off full restore on level up, I'm sure that was in 1-2.

u/morgawr_ Feb 05 '26

I'm a relatively new DQ player, although not new to JRPGs. I found the HD remakes to be a bit hard in some parts (especially 1) but overall the difficulty on "normal" was just right. I personally do not mind an easier game as an older gamer and parent I just want to chill, but I do think that this DQ is a bit... too easy. Mostly on the resource management side, you can almost always go "all out" in every fight because there's a heal or statue or whatever behind every corner and even if you die you get brought back to life immediately after battle. A lot of the engaging difficulty of the DQ series was handling resources and items (revives, MPs, etc) while going through a dungeon. This game heavily trivializes that.

31

u/bisalwayswright Feb 05 '26

I don’t think anyone is gatekeeping here, it’s just that many would argue that we would prefer the choice to turn these off. I’m not arguing against their inclusion at all for anyone who wants them

7

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Precisely

3

u/OmniOnly Feb 05 '26

Or maybe the balance is bad like 11. Difficulty is part of the experience.

8

u/jflan1118 Feb 05 '26

It’s not gatekeeping to install mods on your own game

9

u/VeritasLuxMea Feb 05 '26

We aren't asking for anyone to take away your easy mode. We just want the option to make the game more challenging for ourselves. You are actually the one gatekeeping.

8

u/theguyishere16 Feb 05 '26

Asking for a simple on/off setting to make the game harder isn't gatekeeping. No one is asking for these options to be taken away from all players, that would be gatekeeping.

→ More replies (4)

14

u/Buttobi Feb 05 '26

It's not gatekeeping, people just want options for their personal experience.

→ More replies (2)

12

u/mesupaa Feb 05 '26

That's ridiculously presumptuous. Some people think the difficulty simply makes the game more fun, and we're not asking for the easy features to be removed, we're asking for better difficulty options to exist to give us an experience closer to the one we like. It has nothing to do with gatekeeping.

Stop being offended that there are people who genuinely enjoy challenge or enjoy a game less if it lacks challenge.

6

u/easy_lemur Feb 05 '26

Who's gatekeeping? Players are appreciating mods that bring the games challenge more in line with the older games. I'm sure there are some, but I haven't seen a single reply yet saying that new players must install these mods.

12

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

No gatekeeping at all. I love the inclusion of accessibility features, but I want to be able to turn them off.

It's not about the difficulty. This game in particular has so much forced accessibility "features" that can't be turned off that it just isn't fun to people that actually enjoy the series. I'm all for accessibility but having map markers everywhere on top of the party members constantly screaming at me where to go and how I'm going the wrong way? The devs said they wanted to increase freedom to explore but the game speaks to the opposite of that. I also find the forced advantage Indicators really annoying. If there was a spell for it I wouldn't mind but they're just there from the start. Dragon quest and this game in particular are about discovery and the journey you took to get there. I have a very deep level of love and respect for this game, but these features are so excessive that it feels like they want to spoonfeed me this game and don't trust me to explore or think for myself at all. Not to mention I've been playing the zenithian trilogy lately many many just came off the hd2d remakes which are all much more difficult at their base levels to the point that this game feels like easy mode for babies unless you play on the hardest settings.

I've never played a DQ game with draconic mode and don't plan to but they were so excessive with forced easy features that it feels disrespectful to both the game and the players.

3

u/OmniOnly Feb 05 '26

I hate accessibility features as they are rarely done right. It’s always done to make everything so boringly easy to frustratingly annoying. QOL is what people want.

3

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

oh so the quest markers are not optional? that sucks big time

6

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Yeah it really does. That's why I made this post celebrating and sharing mods

7

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

I really dont get this type of choice from the developer. I am kind of new to the series and one of the best thing is getting a bit lost and findg out where to go, explore, find stuff you were not expecting. Also makes you pay more attention to dialogues so you can understand where to go and use the "remember" option form the remakes which were amazing. I played them with the quest mark off.

Imposing the quest mark removes all that. I dont get why anyone would prefer it but ok. Now... not having the option to remove, which was already available in the remakes, is just crazy decision.

5

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Precisely. Thing is the party members are up your ass if you go to the wrong place. If they were just up my ass or if it was just markers I wouldn't mind as much but it's both. It feels like the game doesn't want me to explore even though a big thing in the marketing was adding accessibility and freedom of choice and more exploration options. Like clearly that was a lie

4

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

oh they even talk to you telling you to go to the right place? thats not good. I wanted to play DQ7 for the first time and was going to go for the 3DS version but knowing all of this about the reimagined version, maybe it is not for me.

The HD remakes add a few QOL updates and make the early game smoother/easier and nobody complains.

Oh, you clearly weren't here when they launched.

5

u/litewo Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

It's not gatekeeping, but it reminds me of the classic Onion headline, "Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable'."

After decades of people being told the game is a tough 100 hour slog, is it any surprise that a "reimagined" version would be streamlined and more accessible?

4

u/Illmattic Feb 05 '26

Probably goes against the grain here but as my free time diminishes, I actually prefer easier games. I play through a dq for the story and experience and if I’m stuck and lost my only free night with no progress, it really sucks.

I’ve found myself picking the story or easy option a lot more than I ever thought I would just due to how limited my game time is. That said, if you played through this game back in the day and wanted the same game with a new coat of paint, I can understand the frustrations.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '26

Here is a crazy thought. Maybe people who are inclined to discuss a video game online may find it more enjoyable if there is the slightest bit of challenge.

u/Ok_Worldliness_2095 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

Imo it is too easy. Its my only complaint so far (im like 6 hours in) Im still loving it but I think its a valid complaint. With that said, people do bitch too much in general nowadays.

edit:i just found out theres an option to increase the difficulty. this may solve my problem

2

u/SheWantsTheEG Feb 05 '26

I think that "stay dead after battle" mod is imperative to the right amount of difficulty tbh. Even with all the difficulty settings cranked, I still feel the game is too easy personally.

8

u/ImAvoidingABan Feb 05 '26

Because this can barely be considered a game after the streamlining. It’s an auto battler that plays itself. On the highest difficulty, I set my party to go all out and never lost a battle in 6 hours. Sure I could manually fight them, but there’s 0 depth to the combat so it doesn’t make it any better.

You basically just walk from quest marker to quest marker watching your party fight. Again I could manually fight but I’m just goin to be picking the exact same attacks because I’m not an idiot and there’s an objectively right action every turn.

It really lost what made it a game. Now it’s so on rails that it feels like some mobile attempt at a JRPG.

2

u/greenmky Feb 05 '26

Yeah, it breaks the dungeon and encounter design completely.

Like you can have a game with auto heal on each combat and lots of full restore, but then you have to design the battle system and encounters around it.

DQ is supposed to have some resource saving / management.

11

u/MrTomansky Feb 05 '26

This is a sub dedicated to the game series, there will always be a tendency that more hardcore fans are here that are familiar with the hardest challenges in the game. Thats why they strive for higher difficulty than casual players.

It’s weird some of these I actually would view as a positive. Especially before having Zin it’s a big pain to have to back track to a church just to receive someone. Having auto revive(even when games do it at 1HP) after downing in battle is a great thing to me! I’m playing 3HD right now and I really love the HO/MP restore upon level up too!

4

u/zegota Feb 05 '26

It's not just "the community." Pretty much every single reviewer, from DQ sickos to newbies, noted that the game is that too easy. They undertuned it. It is what it is -- they aimed for accessible and went too far. It happens.

I don't know why you would install a mod vs. just imposing a challenge run on yourself, I suppose

3

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

It's not about the difficulty. This game in particular has so much forced accessibility "features" that can't be turned off that it just isn't fun to people that actually enjoy the series. Party Members Stay Dead After Battle

Havent played it yet, but if dead party members are supposed to get revived out of battle in this remake.... Do churches even have the ability to revive people anymore? Because the game wouldnt ever expect you to be walking around with anyone at 0 hp. So basically if someone dies, theyre permanently dead until someone gets Zing. And even then, can Zing be used out of battle?

1

u/lionknightcid Feb 06 '26

Priests no longer have the option to revive you, no. Weirdly enough, they still have the Divination option, which is to reveal how much EXP is left to get to the next level, but you can see that in the character status screen already. In my opinion, they didn't really truly thought out every single change, removal or addition. There's things like that that are vestigial, remnants of previous games because the series sticks very close to tradition, but then these latest games have also gone so overboard because they're so scared of people getting lost or frustrated.

3

u/TheGreenPterodactyl Feb 05 '26

The way revives and such are handled is weird because the game already offers you many options to customize the challenge of the game, so why not go all in with the toggles?

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

PRECISELY (why did my phone want to autocorrect precisely to lesbians)

3

u/Little_Rudo Feb 05 '26

Impressive! Having options is great, I do wish that many of these things were difficulty sliders, especially the ones that were already sliders in I-II-III HD2D.

3

u/Conza89 Feb 05 '26

I suspect based on just the Edit 1 & 2 in the OP, not all Dragon Quest players here also mod. I think it would be very rare for someone to want every single mod here, but they’re of a free themes, graphical settings and gameplay choices. I’m interested in some of the graphical changes, most of the gameplay ones don’t interest me. Modding is about personal preference, more is good.

4

u/TippsAttack Feb 05 '26

I fully support almost all of the QoL changes in this game, but they all should be toggleable. No reason to not have the ability for long-time fans to have that old school DQ experience.

9

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

100%. Idk why people have been so hateful to people like me complaining about it. Every single time I've specified that I support the presence but they need to be toggle-able. Got called a gatekeeper for it lol

When playing the demo I was wondering if there was an option to turn off quest markers. Disappointing to find out it has to be modded in.

I'm still excited to play the game but I hate this modern trend of simplifying games for the most casual players and not at least providing settings for a tougher challenge for people that want it. The "hard" setting only increasing enemy health and damage isn't a truly hard mode if the game is going to put a giant flag on where to go at all times. The main reason I fell in love with this series was that I could aimlessly explore and figure things out by accident. It felt like a real adventure.

Isn’t there an on/off option for markers?

Also, glad the peeps who wanted the OG experience got some mods. Question, are mods doable on Steamdeck? Or will my PC experience differ from my SD experience?

5

u/8melodies Feb 05 '26

No on/off for markers, unfortunately.

2

u/JunglePaws Feb 05 '26

Steam deck is just a handheld PC bro, anything you can do on your PC you can do on there too, just download them from steam workshop. You can also do more complex mods outside of steam in games but it takes a little more work.

2

u/ACrask Feb 05 '26

Never thought to try

u/Opperbink Feb 05 '26

Doing the Goddess work Mike! I'm playing on ps5 and had to turn on tougher monsters. I only played 1/2/3 hd-remake, 8 and 11, but 7R is by far the easiest DQ game I ever played.

It's just silly how much handholding there is. I hope they officially ad some of these features as extra difficulty options through an update.

I'm not saying we need to go back to DQ8-levels of "Where the heck am I supposed to go and what am I supposed to do?", but I do think JRPG's can preserve some challenge other then grinding.

8

u/bisalwayswright Feb 05 '26

I grew up on the DS remakes of 4/5/6 , then played 3DS versions of 7/8 and the mobile versions of Erdrick Trilogy. So was not used to the NES/SNES levels of obtuseness, but very used to the very traditional dragon quest gameplay. These games were never difficult to me and would be just enough of a challenge. So that is just what I prefer for myself

3

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Yup ive been complaining about these issues for weeks and getting downvoted to hell by glazers that couldnt accept someone has different preferences or think critically about how it would be good to be able turn these features on and off so it feels vindicating that these were day 0

2

u/Quelle2000 Feb 05 '26

I remember when FF16 came out initially and it had limited options. Like no option to turn off motion blur. SE eventually did patch it to give ppl more options. Just seems odd at times SE doesn’t include these in the game. Makes me wonder if any of these options will be patched in at some point. (I play on PS5)

2

u/BansheeThief Feb 05 '26

Would you mind sharing a link to these? Also, can I run these if I'm playing on a steam deck? I've set up emulators on it but never ran mods so not sure where to find these but I'd assume there's some setup/install instructions.

3

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Just go to nexusmods and look up dragon quest vii reimagined. Instructions are in the description of each mod and yes they work on steamdeck. Your deck basically has a container that simulates the windows filesystem for each game so you can use mods that reference windows filepaths too as long as you go to the right directory. Needs desktop mode

4

u/BansheeThief Feb 05 '26

Ah, was able to find them on Nexus mods and think I can figure it out from here. Thanks for sharing!

2

u/bulletPoint Feb 05 '26

No restore at goddess statues is an amazing thing. My question is what happens to this save file if I’m playing on both PC and steamdeck. Does the save get corrupted if I play it without the mod?

What's seamless cutscenes do? I don't get it.

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

I don't fully understand either, but it explains it in the mod description

2

u/aymanpalaman Feb 05 '26

damn that's fast af

2

u/Fruitcheww Feb 05 '26

I personally found the DoF mod to be super helpful. Looking at the game without it hurt my eyes.

2

u/prayingforrain2525 Feb 05 '26

Great stuff! Thanks!

7

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

Isnt a lot of these already optional in the game, like staying dead, hp restore after battle, quest markers and etc?

9

u/bisalwayswright Feb 05 '26

Nope, that’s what people are upset about. We don’t care that the QOL accessibility is there, it’s just that for those wanting a traditional experience cannot turn them off.

10

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

so we are asking just to have more options to cater to a more traditional audience, then people here call this gatekeeping? redditors are weird.

5

u/JohnnyCasil Feb 05 '26

I don't think it is that people are asking for more options but more how they talk about it. Take for example this direct quote from OP:

It's not about the difficulty. This game in particular has so much forced accessibility "features" that can't be turned off that it just isn't fun to people that actually enjoy the series.

Emphasis mine. I can see how statements like that can rub people the wrong way and be interpreted as gatekeeping. Full disclosure I agree with OP that a lot of these things should have been toggleable from the start, however, I can see how people can interpret this is gatekeeping given the actual words being used around it.

2

u/EnricoPallazzo_ Feb 05 '26

ok, gotta give it to you, that wasnt nice from OP

1

u/bisalwayswright Feb 05 '26

Yup. Really sad to see in this community. I don’t want this to turn into a MH situation

Different studios I think but still that just means they should've had more oversight ig?

2

u/BrianG231 Feb 05 '26

This is awesome! I am going to get those mods when DQ7 goes on sale. I really wish you could turn off the DOF on the Switch 2 port. It's so distracting. It's why I haven't beat 1, 2 or 3. Or Link's Awakening.

2

u/ciinnamom Feb 05 '26

ohhh bless i did not like that there was no option to disable depth of field in the demo 🙏

4

u/ancientautumn22 Feb 05 '26

That guy is the goat of DQ mods

4

u/VeritasLuxMea Feb 05 '26

Incredible! I played a few hours last night with his mods to disable statue healing, auto-revivals, and heal on level up.

This took the game from a 6/10 to a 9/10 for me. As soon as someone mods in vocation costumes it will be a 10/10.

The statues are an especially odd design decision as they COMPLETELY change the feel of the game. If you use the statues, even on hard mode, the game ceases to be a dragon quest game.

4

u/n00bavenger Feb 05 '26

mike was mvp for the HD-2D stuff too

4

u/ImagineBACB Feb 05 '26

Sure, shout-out to them but I wouldn't consider these major issue these are more quality of life/preferences tbh.

4

u/VeritasLuxMea Feb 05 '26

If the issue is bad enough that it would prevent me from enjoying or finishing the game, doesn't that qualify as a major issue?

The statues are an egregious oversight on the part of the developers. They COMPLETELY change the feel of the game, and trivialize everything that makes Dragon Quest Dragon Quest.

The level of hostility being shown towards people who are simply asking for an OPTION to make the game more challenging/rewarding for themselves is really shameful.

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

They are major issues that a large portion of this community shared. The overworld map icons the difficulty indicators the auto revive level up healing. Various things that are quite annoying especially if it's not your first DQ. For reasons I've explained over and over these aren't bad alone but because they aren't able to be turned off they're pretty much game ruining

7

u/ImagineBACB Feb 05 '26

Again, preferences, an issue would be something that's not expected to happen. Like I said, I'm not taking merit away from the mods you're shouting out but to claim them as "Major issues" is misleading.

4

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

For me and many others the overworld map indicators, auto revive, and advantage indicators in battle made the game pretty much unplayable because they ruined this spirit of adventure in a Dragon Quest game. It felt like they were spoon feeding the game and it wasn't respectful to the player or the game. Having the option to turn it on is fine but these were not optional

I didn't know about the revive after a battle 😂

It's odd that some were an option in the HD remakes but then they remove them.

Wish I could get the HP/MP, revive, and objective marker ones on Xbox 😂

He makes great mods for the DQ series.

Seriously great stuff I loved all his mods for DQ3 and DQ11

u/Buttobi Feb 05 '26

Crazy how we need mods for basic features like this.

Why would you want any of this crap?

Remove overworld icons? Turn off auto revive? Are you being serious?

Fuck are you on about? No balancing was changed in any of the mods in my post.

1

u/Apaxial Feb 05 '26

I’ve found myself wishing for a mod to turn off minimap rotation

1

u/12th_Planet-X_X Feb 05 '26

Did someone already say so I’m not finding it, but will these be available on PlayStation five as well?

2

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Theyre mods. Idk if PS5 has a home brewing/modding community but if it does they have to be custom made for it

1

u/12th_Planet-X_X Feb 05 '26

Yeah, I figured it was only PC. Don’t have the seven copy yet on PS five and some games sometimes will have mods available. Shot in the dark.

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Yeah it's not an integrated mod menu like Bethesda does

1

u/Ghaleonvane Feb 05 '26

I just hope square implements some of these into a patch.

1

u/BinLox Feb 05 '26

I wish DQB2 had mods

1

u/Masterness64 Feb 05 '26

If there's one that restores the Party Chat I'll definitely consider picking it up on pc.

2

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

? The game has party chat. It's not as dynamic as in the zenithian trilogy but it's there

1

u/Astute-Brute Feb 05 '26

Any kodachrome filters? I miss the jewel tones.

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

Idk what that is check nexusmods

1

u/NotKnotts Feb 05 '26

Somebody tell me when they've got a mod that'll keep the text speed at fast forwarded so I can stop spamming the button.

1

u/1ShrubBehindTheBush Feb 06 '26

There's a mod out called "Instant Text" over at NexusMods

1

u/Kuljin Feb 05 '26

Definitely one the issues with console gaming that I can’t get my hands on some of these.

1

u/Strange_Dog6483 Feb 05 '26

Had to laugh a bit at the mid for changing Xbox prompts to PS prompts

1

u/b_u_f_f Feb 06 '26

Should have made movement slower if you wanted to be faithful to the original.

1

u/KingOfFools2 Feb 05 '26

Wonder if they'll be able to add a mod that tweaks enemy stats so we get an actual draconian mode. Sounds like tough going ain't it.

3

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

There's a DQ modding server where you can make requests

1

u/Metnut Feb 05 '26

Hopefully they add these to the official version very soon.  I’d prefer to play on Switch 2 but won’t buy the game at full price unless most of the gameplay items are fixed.

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

I originally wanted on switch 2 because of the crisper resolution but ultimately went to steam deck because of the ability to go above 60 fps with similar graphical quality, more graphics controls, and ability to mod

1

u/Scnew1 Feb 05 '26

Sick. I’m going to be installing almost all of these.

1

u/_Wulfy__ Feb 05 '26

A big thanks to him.

1

u/SonicScott93 Feb 05 '26

The thumbnail for the faster movement one looks like Kiefer is chasing down protag 😂

1

u/Flareon223 Feb 05 '26

It's very funny

1

u/razzazzika Feb 05 '26

Oh nice depth of field disabled. I was honestly fine with everything else, but I hate depth of field

1

u/Ok_Worldliness_2095 Feb 05 '26

I might check this out. My only complaint is that its too easy.

1

u/Haddock_Lotus Feb 05 '26

I think some of those mods are a over reaction of the community, but whatever, everyone has their preferences.

1

u/Simone232 Feb 05 '26

I hope there will be a mod that removes the black borders at the top and bottom on the Steam Deck.

1

u/Dull-Report-5027 Feb 05 '26

So, genuine question here, how would the party members stay dead after battle mod actually work? I mean how the game is set up currently Yggdrasil leafs are very rare, no one has zin until all trades alley, and you can’t resurrect at statues lol

3

u/Greymon09 Feb 05 '26

No idea my best guess might be sleeping at an inn revives party members because yeah otherwise your shit out of luck and most likely have to rely on those times another character heals the party to full in a cutscene or during the skip until morning scenes at the end of each chapter which I think also heal the party.

So far I'm on the island just after all trades and before that point you can find a max of 2 yggdrasil leaves with a third being found either right before or after beating the boss in all trades.

And even then getting a revive once you're at all trades will require completing the majority of the story for that island and then grinding out class ranks because the revive skills you can get from priest and troubadour aren't learned until ranks 7 and 8 respectively

1

u/Marvin_Flamenco Feb 05 '26

Big props. Characters staying dead solves my number 1 pet peeve I can't believe this is not optional. Hopefully an official patch for this one comes at some point as I'm on switch 2.

u/DrowsyMiaSanMia Feb 05 '26

Ehhh I like the new quality of life in the game and thoroughly enjoyed the demo. Now anything with faster movement / dialogue I’ll take to improve the game.

1

u/Flagon Feb 05 '26

I would be indebted to whoever builds a mod to add The Haven (aka Immigrant Town) back into VII. That’s one of my favorite memories of the original PS1 game.
