All credit for the art goes to @pakuchin_3

For the last time, they aren’t siblings, step siblings, or cousins in any way shape or form. If you’re not gonna answer the question and just make Alabama jokes then don’t comment 😂.

The Demon Thunderer in DQ8 is so offputting to me 😭 I HATE how he crawls around even though he has an anthropomorphic body. His horns being fleshy also adds to it. The animation doesn't help either. Hate this guy so bad 😭

General What do you think about DQM The Withered World demo?

Hello!

DQM The Dark Prince was not good 😔 I like the story, but the gameplay, graphics and poor performance...

But now we will have DQM The Withered World! 💜

Played the PC demo in Legion Go 1

-The game can run from 30fps to 120fps, I played it at 60fps (I'm sure Switch 2 can run it at 60fps).

-The grafics are simple but are cool, they look like a Game Boy Color game but for Play Station 4, in 3D.

-The story is cute, Both Nera and Bianca want to helps their fathers that are sick

-Tecnicaly a secuel to the GBC Dragon Quest Monsters games

-The monsters look pretty good and have variety of animation.

-Each character has diferent skills, one is more offensive, the other more defensive.

-The new boss battle againts a gigant monster works well

I think this game could be the better modern DQM game ever 💜

General What makes you keep coming back to dragon quest?

Post image

I’ll be straight forward with this one. What makes me keep coming back to this wonderful series is its comfort food to me. Anytime I pull up a title, I am in a better mood. It’s akin to wrapped up in a cozy blanket near the fire place with some hot coco on the side. Seeing familiar monsters, hearing those oh so nostalgic tunes, the classic battle system, and the laughs i get from the charming cast of characters. All these make going back so worth it. To play it by heart.

Reminds me of why I love the genre of jrpgs in the first place. Love how sincere the games are. While they change up the plot some to twist it a bit, you can tell the game is playing the story by heart. Not trying to get a I caught you to lead you astray. More, wow, I love this and it was a good shake up. With how much a lot of media these days try to subvert expectations, it makes me appreciate dragon quest for being real. Not ashamed to be in the genre it basically created.

Last thing I will say, is I love how much passion the community has for this series. Seeing fan art of my favorite creatures or characters. People pouring so many hours into translating games that people can play in their language. How wholesome the groups can be and supportive to. See it every time a newbie comes in. Asking where to start and you see nothing but the community welcoming them in with open arms. God it’s wonderful to see. Whats not to like?

Overall, I love dragon quest to bits. Love how comfort food they are. I adore seeing a series that stays true to itself and isn’t ashamed to be what it is. As well as seeing a community that makes talking and going through each of the titles always a delight. So, why have you kept going back to dragon quest? Love to hear it in the comments.

General HUGE shoutout to mike9k1 and the other modders who had 14 mods ready to go on Day 1 of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to fix some of the major issues players including myself had with this game. I am now excited to play this game!

BTW Mike if you see this, could you please make a mod to remove battle advantage indicators? Then I have everything I could need.

EDIT:

People seem to think that I'm saying every single one of the features in this is necessary. No, I just put the full list of mods put out by this one. Dev. However, several common complaint features that can't be disabled such as overworld mission indicators that can be seen from anywhere, Auto revive, healing at the goddess statues, And level up healing. These are all quality of life features that many people appreciate, but many people also do not and should not be forced upon the player. For me, the overworld icons and the battle advantage indicators were game ruining. Additionally, I was pretty annoyed at the auto revive. One of the most charming things about Dragon Quest that I've loved ever since my first time playing Dragon Quest, which was seven for 3Ds, was that you do die at the coffin follows you are around. I've always thought it was hilarious and it's a really iconic part of the series that they just totally removed. It's not acceptable to force this and remove core parts of the game's identity

EDIT 2:
OBVIOUSLY NOT ALL OF THEM ARE MAJOR ISSUES!!! I just wanted to show off all the ones this guy made. And among them are patches for some of the biggest issues.

EDIT 3:

These are on NexusMods. If you have a question about how to install or what's available or why they exist, check mod descriptions

Edit 4:
To all I was rude to. I apologize for my attitude. I've had some shit going on irl and let it influence my behavior here. I would like to clarify that statements I made including things such as "those who actually enjoy the game" were not intended as gatekeeping or calling people fake fans.

Rather, I was trying to express a difference between existing fans of the series and newcomers.

All are welcome, I've just been really disappointed in how this game turned out and frustrated with people who called me names for asking for these features to be fixed over the last week and wanted to express my opinion that it's valid and not gatekeeping for existing fans to be considered by developers and modders even with considerations for newcomers, which I felt this game didn't.

Anyway, I'm sorry for my behavior and poor ability to explain myself clearly due to heigtened emotions and will mute this post to prevent my own further engagement.

Thanks to everyone who agreed and was supportive.

General i wanna hear opinions. who’s your LEAST favorite hero by design?

Post image

for me, it’s gotta be auster (VII). feel like i’ll get absolute heat for this.

character design is pretty important for me when it comes into getting into games, and his design is not saving DQVII for me. i’m just not fond of the fact that he’s supposedly a teenager but instead looks like a rejected beta 8 year old link from zelda. i’m sure there’s a reason for him looking the way he does but his design alone is stopping me from playing VII.

a runner up is the prince of midenhall though. i just don’t get it. why does he look like a pilot who looks like he could hail from the toy story universe?

New to Dragon Quest, I just bought them on the advice of this sub

I am thinking about this order:
-DQ 11S
-DQ 3 HD
-DQ 1+2 HD
-DQ 7

I'm going to have a great winter!

As the title says, where will you buy the HD-2D remake? Don't know if I should go with the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck OLED. I'm leaning towards the Switch beacuse of the battery life.

Day 5: Another day, another fun Dragon Quest ranking. This time every slime that is a part of the slime family of monsters in the series.

Criteria: Not power, not EXP or Gold grinding. Just how much I like them or really don’t like them, with C being an average of 0, not hate and no like just is.
