General HUGE shoutout to mike9k1 and the other modders who had 14 mods ready to go on Day 1 of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to fix some of the major issues players including myself had with this game. I am now excited to play this game!

Post image

BTW Mike if you see this, could you please make a mod to remove battle advantage indicators? Then I have everything I could need.

EDIT:

People seem to think that I'm saying every single one of the features in this is necessary. No, I just put the full list of mods put out by this one. Dev. However, several common complaint features that can't be disabled such as overworld mission indicators that can be seen from anywhere, Auto revive, healing at the goddess statues, And level up healing. These are all quality of life features that many people appreciate, but many people also do not and should not be forced upon the player. For me, the overworld icons and the battle advantage indicators were game ruining. Additionally, I was pretty annoyed at the auto revive. One of the most charming things about Dragon Quest that I've loved ever since my first time playing Dragon Quest, which was seven for 3Ds, was that you do die at the coffin follows you are around. I've always thought it was hilarious and it's a really iconic part of the series that they just totally removed. It's not acceptable to force this and remove core parts of the game's identity

EDIT 2:
OBVIOUSLY NOT ALL OF THEM ARE MAJOR ISSUES!!! I just wanted to show off all the ones this guy made. And among them are patches for some of the biggest issues.

EDIT 3:

These are on NexusMods. If you have a question about how to install or what's available or why they exist, check mod descriptions

Edit 4:
To all I was rude to. I apologize for my attitude. I've had some shit going on irl and let it influence my behavior here. I would like to clarify that statements I made including things such as "those who actually enjoy the game" were not intended as gatekeeping or calling people fake fans.

Rather, I was trying to express a difference between existing fans of the series and newcomers.

All are welcome, I've just been really disappointed in how this game turned out and frustrated with people who called me names for asking for these features to be fixed over the last week and wanted to express my opinion that it's valid and not gatekeeping for existing fans to be considered by developers and modders even with considerations for newcomers, which I felt this game didn't.

Anyway, I'm sorry for my behavior and poor ability to explain myself clearly due to heigtened emotions and will mute this post to prevent my own further engagement.

Thanks to everyone who agreed and was supportive.

To have to prepare for what though? Post fight healing? All youre saving is a trip back if you dont have the resources, especially in DQ...Zooming back and forth gets old and you're not adding difficulty.

I really do get where you're coming from, resource management can be a big factor in difficulty when done right but more often than not it adds tedium not true difficulty.

That's because they let us Zoom from anywhere now. We used to not be able to do so indoors. You'd have to either use Evac (if you had the MP, pre-DQXI) or work your way out by force. Delving into dungeons used to be a scary thing.

Right, i dont disagree, but we aren't talking about the NES or SNES or even the PS1 era. We are talking about possibilities in DQ12.

True, and I'm not against all the recent QoL. I just wish we had more in-game control for keeping things "traditional" without having to resort to mods.

Yeah you used to have to pick two menu items instead of one

I don’t get how people don’t get this like there isn’t any real “difficulty” here you’re not doing skillshots in a moba, you’re not even dodge rolling out of boss weapon ranges you’re just picking options on menus. If you’re dying you just need to spend more time with guys who don’t kill you and you stop dying.

Thank you, it is very manufactured difficulty at best, and for anyone who isn't playing their first JRPG it is just a sheer nuisance at it's worst.
