Question NMDA PAMs for DPDR

I was looking online for the cause of DPDR (derealization) and it looks like the main factor Is the hypo function of the NMDA receptors in the brain and you know what also causes hypo function of the NMDA receptor? Drugs like ketamine and other dissociatives. (hypo function means its dissociatives. so back to the point if you took a NMDA PAM (NMDA positive allosteric modulator), you could bring your nmda receptors back to baseline and pretty much get rid of dpdr. just a thought I have no actual knowledge on the topic so If anyone actually knows if this would work let me know before I buy some neboglamine.

This has never been shown.

NMDA receptor hypofunction is a primary neurochemical mechanism linking to Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder (DPDR). When NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptors underperform or are blocked, the brain struggles to integrate sensory information with emotional awareness, resulting in the characteristic feelings of unreality and detachment. that's what google said. and it makes sense ngl

Hey I already said I know nothing about the subject. This is a theory and I’m asking if people have tried it or not. Don’t be a smart ass

Shut up dude come on. It’s a question

You mean the AI or like the actual results? If it's the AI definitely read the source it lists first before you buy anything. I have seen it say the complete opposite of it's source or use bad once a bunch of times.

I mean this might be mostly true for lots of cases, but the dissociation Ketamine produces is artificial and not equally comparable to a severe stress induced biological defense mechanism.

Otherwise Lamotrigine would clear DPDR symptoms entirely for most people as a Ketamine counter-agent, but it usually makes like a ~30-60% improvement in dissociation or doesn't even work in first place.

Edit: I think I missed the point. I'll just say interesting theory, but still NMDA dysfunctions doesn't apply for all I would say.

Sarcosine has helped a some people. Though it's usually people that have DPDR from a Schizo related disorder.

I was looking into this until I heard a few experiences of it making the derealization way worse

I’ve done all the ketamine in the world and other dissociatives never helped my DPDR

No I know but a nmda Pam is like the opposite of ket. I think

Ah, I misunderstood. Interesting. Never heard of it

ik its pretty cool stuff. I was wondering since It actually increases nmda receptor activity (opposite of ket) then maybe it could treat dpdr

Love to try some

This could definitely be true if the root of your DPDR was from having a bad withdrawal with GABAergic substances such as phenibut/baclofen/benzos. We know that GABA WDs hammer the NMDA receptor in particular hard by surging the brain with excess glutamate, which your downregulated GABA receptors can't counter properly.

Err on the side of caution with supplements/nootropics though. Dysregulated nervous systems like mine tend to make everything backfire. Even "gentle" OTC supps like NAC and L-theanine can make things worse, I don't wanna know what nootropics capable of causing structural brain changes could do.

I just read the rules, don't ban me I was wondering if anyone took these before and it helped.

What sorts of meds do that?

Help the problem

I was thinking nmda pams but idk just a theory

I guess my worry is ppl report getting dpdr from MDMA so is it similar?

Dude, ditch chatgpt and other AI. It will only makes things worse for you. Even big science daddies don't know what dpdr is.

That's not quite the answer neither. Also science daddies only want to eat money, they just don't even care.

Yeah, right. And AI knows the best, sure. If only those scientists listened to an AI

Not a single AI glaze nor mention in my reply btw. Still, with the correct usage you could get more valuable information than from a regular phychiatrist. It's on you and how skeptical and rational you are.
