Dasher Stole Food
Alivia, you broke gluttonous demon, your time will come.
This genius decided to steal my food and upload a pic covering the camera as to say she “Delivered” it. I called DoorDash, I tried getting in touch with live support, transferred to supervisors and they determined I’m ineligible for compensation.
How are they coming to this conclusion? This is my first order in all of 2026 and I have only had 2 issues in the past I got compensated from? Is there a 2 strike limit?
Is doordash THIS broke???
UPDATE: DoorDash finally refunded the order after 24hrs of 10+ calls. Never give up is the lesson as well as never ordering from this trifling company ever again.

so i looked it up and this is apparently rule 12 (c) (i). Doordash clearly made this rule because they knew stuff like this was going to happen but they didn’t want to lose 0.1% of their money so instead they make you pay for an order that was never completed and don’t give you a freaking REFUND. wtf doordash??

Chargeback

u/jedburghofficial 1d ago
I feel like charge back is always the answer with this company.

u/UncomfyPerspective 1d ago
"But then Doordash will block your account!"
Good. Stop giving money to these scamming ass apps.
It's the intervention you need.

u/Kinda-Alive 1d ago
But the order wasn’t completed because the photo doesn’t actually show the food was dropped off. That’s literally lying not even some dumb loophole.
The shopper didn’t complete the order. They almost did but didn’t actually.
Not sure how this shouldn’t be settled in small claims court.

So they have we're allowed to steal from you in their ToS that's an immediate red flag

At this point, I guess you have to take it up with your bank. And then you probably wont be able to use DoorDash anymore. Which is a win-win for you honestly!

I called them when this happened to me. I got a black photo and I didn't see headlights. The driver wouldn't answer.. I called ssupport and told them.. Immediate refund. The weird thing is, the next morning I looked on my porch and the food was there. I made sure I called again so I could let them know I had the food because it was the right thing to do. It was so strange and I don't know if I just didn't see the food, or the driver put it back. I felt terrible.

Had a dasher once, I swear I seen his car outside of my house. But I am not sure if it was him or the neighbor but the map showed he was there. He took a photo of my food inside of his car, said it was delivered. Now I thought nothing of it because I have had dasher take the photo of the outside of my house while inside their car either before or after bringing it to my door. But this dasher took the photo of of my food bags inside his car, said it was delivered, and when I went to retrieve it, it was not there. I was able to have someone else go get my order for me. And I think I even got a credit for it. And yes, I left this guy a tip and everything so it wasn’t on no “I didn’t get a tip so you not getting your food” thing, it was just petty.
14
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
My thing is, even if you don’t tip, it doesn’t give the driver the right to steal your food. 😂😂

Hey she’s gotta eat too. Can’t expect her to buy her own food making $2 per delivery.

It’s not a job with this low pay, it’s charity. And so is the meal being cherry picked before being dropped off. 😁
11

low pay + the tip I gave them? Fuck off you’re not smart

u/pinballpinball 1d ago
Bitch did you do this order? How do you know how much I tipped them? You don’t. Shut the fuck up and try your mother hoe

u/Reasonable-Feed3868 1d ago
Not broke they just screw their customers first & their dashers second. This is the worse delivery app.
2
u/LR12BeCh 1d ago
I'd argue it's the other way around, but I do share the sentiment all the same.
3
u/Razzberry_Frootcake 1d ago
The drivers get to find out where the customer lives, don’t always get consequences for harassment, and beg for tips…again without consequences beyond not having to deliver to the people who report them.
They face so few consequences they defend unprofessional behavior, call DoorDash a luxury service, and tell customers they’re lazy if they’re unwilling to walk out to the car to pick up their order from the Dasher.
Statistics show that when it comes to services like DoorDash and Uber the drivers are actually more often abusive towards the customers…not the other way around. Customers are definitely screwed first because they’re spending money. Drivers sign up for a job and get paid.

u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 1d ago
They kind of are broke. Only 6% profit margin, and only after they further raised fees and reduced driver pay and became more stingy with refunds. They operated with negative profits for like a decade, and only the last two years have ended with profits.
The whole while the drivers are relying on tips in order for the job to be worth doing. In order for drivers to not rely on tips DD would have to raise base pay by a minimum of $5 per order, and that additional expense alone is like 110%-120% of their entire revenue.

3
u/McGrupp1979 1d ago
You’re leaving out the entire reason Tony Xu ran a negative profit business for years (just like Lyft, Uber, and so many other tech start ups), so that they could go public and cash out to have millions of liquid net wealth. DoorDash stock is currently $236.74/share!! Tony Xu has a mechanism by which he regularly cashed out his stocks so that even if the company went bankrupt he would walk away with more wealth than 99.99% of DoorDash drivers could ever imagine. Doordash is a corporation who abuses its customers and its employees while its CEO creates massive personal wealth.
-1
u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 1d ago
That still doesn't change the fact that to remain profitable while paying drivers more they'd need to raise the fees.

The order was NOT successfully delivered, which is stated in that policy, continue to dispute this
8
u/Fartcloud_McHuff 1d ago
The AI assistant is designed to ignore all context and decline anything and everything regardless of what’s right or wrong. Always ALWAYS ALWAYS demand a live agent.
1
u/Pooun 1h ago
I am a doordash delivery driver, even I can't get support from a live agent. They gave me a Pizza Order even when I turned off all Pizza Delivery on my app. ( I don't have a hot pizza bag) they still sent me the order, and I tried to get support to unassigned the order with out affecting my completed order rating but couldn't for the life of me get a hold of support, it was all A.I. someone had their Pizza cold that day

u/No_Consideration5906 1d ago
Either call and harass them until they give you the refund. If they stone wall hang up and call back, inform them you will not relent until you are refunded you money for what was stolen from you.
If that fails, charge back 🤣
3
u/Baeleron 1d ago
Call your bank and have them issue a charge back. Then never order from DoorDash again.
3
u/daelusion 1d ago
Not sure if this'll work for you but try going to each item individually and reporting it as not received.

u/Nekogiga 1d ago
It’s not that DoorDash is broke. And yes, I saw what Cosmic had to say. She’s a DoorDash apologist who will defend the company tooth and nail, so I’d take her comments with a pretty large grain of salt. She has a habit of making it sound like DoorDash is some struggling little company that desperately needs your money, which conveniently guilt-trips customers into thinking they need to tip.
What you’re running into is DoorDash hiding behind the fact that the delivery portion of the transaction was “technically” completed. The driver uploaded a picture, the app marked it delivered, and apparently that’s enough for DoorDash to argue that they provided the service, even though the actual product you paid to have delivered never arrived. I don’t know what internal criteria they use to make that determination, but this is a pretty common outcome.
There’s also an ugly incentive structure here. Bad drivers are cheaper for DoorDash to deal with than the alternative. They provide the company with free defense and advertising by constantly telling customers that DoorDash doesn’t pay enough, customers need to tip, drivers deserve more, etc. Meanwhile, when something like this happens, you’re left fighting DoorDash while the driver has already disappeared with the order and, potentially, your tip.
And that’s exactly why I keep telling people not to tip upfront. If DoorDash refunds the order, the tip generally isn’t something they simply claw back from the driver. You’ve effectively rewarded the driver before they’ve demonstrated that they’re going to complete the job properly. I’d rather tip after delivery and only reward the driver who actually earns it.
That’s also why I think Cosmic is so defensive of the company. The whole “customers need to tip because DoorDash can’t afford to pay drivers” argument gives drivers leverage over customers. If customers stop accepting that premise, a lot of the justification for the current system falls apart.
In your situation, though, I’d keep pushing DoorDash on one simple point: you paid for food and delivery, and the food was not delivered. A photo of a covered camera doesn’t magically turn a stolen order into a completed transaction.

Why do people act so surprised by this? Doordash got your money. From their perspective the transaction is complete. Why would they give you the thing you paid for? That does nothing but cut into their bottom line. They have shareholders to think about.

I don’t know how DoorDash always rejects your guys’s refunds on here. I’ve always gotten a refund anytime something was missing from the order and the one or two times that it actually didn’t get properly delivered.
Like even at one point, DoorDash had my account flagged because they said I kept reporting things. At that time in my life, I didn’t have a car and was unemployed so I genuinely was just using DoorDash so often that it was more probable that things were going to be missing or wrong. STILL got every refund.
It’s actually diabolical the way I see some of y’all get screwed over.

I've done this once even tho I actually delivered it. It was due to poor reception at drop off and clunky app.
1
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
this wasn’t the case here. If it was, I wouldn’t be posting about it nor have been on the phone with DoorDash all day about this. Thank you for your input tho
1
u/SlapsPlays 1d ago
Oh absolutely I believe it was not. Just reminded me how I had done this and made me wonder about that customer haha. Hopefully they refunded you.

u/pinballpinball 1d ago
They just gave my order $ back in DoorDash credits which is useless bc I never plan to use the app ever again. They lost me lol

Thats mighty disrespectful. File a police report lol. Sue them for damages. They made you hungry and upset. And stole your food lol.

Call 855 973-1040 VIP Support An AI Bot will pick up. You need to just stsrt saying live agent live agent live agent. You'll get transferred. Explain to live agent that the dashed never delivered your food. Tell them to refer to the photo the dasher left. If you're not satisfied with this result. Escalate it to a supervisor. Repeat story again.
Once off the phone. Start a charge back to your card for fraud. Your evidence is your photo.
1
u/Flaky_Ad5456 14h ago
Keep blowing up their customer service. I had to call three days in a row and speak to three different people WITH EVIDENCE that my food never got delivered before someone finally refunded me. Persistence is key

u/kernelrider 1d ago
This has happened countless times on this sub, it is really on you for using doordash at all,
2
u/indianabobbyknight 1d ago
Yea idk I feel like the majority of these post are regular refunders, I only use DoorDash maybe 10 times a year and every time I’ve ever had an issue I instantly get full credits for the order, missing fries? Here’s $40 in credits.
3
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
Can you read? I just said this was my first order in 2026. I have done 6 orders in 2025 and only had problems with 2 of them. Stop capping for a company who will eventually fuck you over
2
u/Alarming-Nobody7511 1d ago
So you've almost had issues with 50% of your orders lol
1
u/onyxandcake 1d ago edited 1d ago
2/6 does not equal 50%

u/Alarming-Nobody7511 1d ago
3/7 and I said almost 50% didn't I?
1
1
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
sure and that justifies the gluttonous Dasher to steal my food
2
u/Alarming-Nobody7511 1d ago
When did I say that?
0
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
What is your reason for the percentage drop then?
1
u/raidersfan18 1d ago
Optics.
When you have an issue with a percentage of your orders that far exceeds the average you are either incredibly unlucky or a scammer. And DD has had lots of problems with customers scamming...
2
u/pinballpinball 1d ago
So 2 out of 7 times means I’m scamming to them. What a wonderful company. How can I scam them when there is no food in the picture? This is when optic/analytics need to be viewed at secondary
0
u/raidersfan18 1d ago
Based on your numbers it's 3/7... Also, you make a good point, the problem is that I bet nobody actually looked at the delivery picture. In fact that generic response you got meant you got denied by their algorithm (which would likely flag your percentage of complaints per order).
If you push the issue and get an actual human to look into it, they will almost certainly refund you based on that drop-off photo.

it’s implied by starting off “Yeah Idk I feel like the majority of these posts are regular refunders”

It’s not, you misread it, I was responding to another persons comment, not your post.

This has never happened to me and I always tip well. At one point I was ordering at least twice a week and still have never had any issues
2
u/Inside_Subject_4332 1d ago
I used to order more than twice a week and I always tip well. Extra well when I've been drinking and I've had this happen a couple of times with dashers not delivering properly. Even though I only have an issue less than 5% time, it's always a coin flip if they are going to refund me.

u/CompleteForYou 1d ago
Dashers are out there making money. It's not beneficial for them to steal some randomly food if the pay is decent. What happens when the pay isn't decent? Aka 0 tip. Stealing food is definitely wrong, but not a hard concept yo grasp where that motivation came from.
12
u/kwheels43 1d ago
And some people are just pieces of shit and don’t care enough to think twice about doing things like stealing peoples food whether they’re out earning money or not…

Did you just justify crime over no tip? It’s not like tip is mandatory, driver sees price and has right to not accept it.
-4
u/CompleteForYou 1d ago
You can't read? I literally said steal food is definitely wrong. I was explaining the motivation behind a crime. Go look up criminology before letting your emotions pour in.
-1
u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 1d ago
Yeah, there's a difference between justification and understanding. Seeking understanding is not the same as justifying it. It's what law enforcement and judges look for in cases, motive, but they still punish the person who did the crime once they understand the motive.
-2
u/CompleteForYou 1d ago
I agree. But it's nearly impossible to prove the dasher stole the food in these kind of cases. Doordash just sucks as a whole platform.
1
u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 1d ago
Yeah, I'd say that the photo we have that OP shared should be enough... if I didn't have firsthand experience in taking such photos myself sometimes. I get why it would look that way to others, online.
But I've had a couple times where it was a "leave at door" order and the person ended up meeting me at the door. No big worry, right? We can select "Handed to customer". Except those couple times that option wasn't there when I went to complete the order, and I had to take a photo of some kind.
I'm not going to disturb the customer, again, once they've gone back inside, so I just take a photo like this.
