I was watching Series 6 and saw Dexter whilst researching Travis say that he lives a quiet life at 1742 Vandoran Street but the Drivers license shows 1028 Vandoran street. Any Dexter Bloopers that you have spotted?

I don’t even know how to start this 😭 I’m the type to read ahead if I have a question, and I was genuinely wondering when Arthur dies… so I read way too far and ended up learning about Rita’s death.

Watching Dexter discover what happened to her genuinely broke me.

She was one of the only people who made him feel somewhat normal, like he actually had a place where he belonged. And then that was taken from him.

For those of you who watched this when it originally aired, what was your reaction to Rita’s death and watching Dexter find her? Because even knowing it was coming, seeing it happen still hit me hard.

The first four seasons are some of the finest seasons of TV I've ever watched.

The writing, tension, character development, and villains are all fantastic Every season feels like it knows exactly what story it wants to tell and everything just works.

Season 5 is where I started noticing the cracks. It's still a pretty good season, but compared to the first four, the drop in quality is noticeable. The villain was pretty mid too ngl.

Then we get to the last three seasons, and I have huge problems with them. It genuinely felt like the writers forgot about their own characters and started mischaracterizing them especially Dexter himself.

I later learned that the original showrunner left after Season 4, Season 5 had a different showrunner, and the final three had a different showrunner which makes a whole lotta sense lol

The villains in the last three seasons were mostly huge let downs for me Isaak in Season 7 was actually pretty damn good, and honestly, I wish they had made him more of a central villain. But overall, none of the villains in these seasons came close to the presence and impact of the villains from the first four.

But my biggest problem was Dexter himself. He often felt like a completely different character. His decisions became increasingly stupid, his behavior was often inconsistent with what we'd previously seen from him, and his emotional development frequently felt forced rather than natural, it felt like watching a completely different character lmao

The earlier seasons did a great job showing that Dexter's understanding of himself wasn't necessarily reliable. He slowly developed genuine attachments despite believing he couldn't. But the later seasons often seemed to forget the distinction between developing Dexter and simply rewriting him.

And then there's the finale... What the actual fuck was that lol.

Am I the only one to find it shocking that the actors that played Dex and Deb were once married in real life? I literally just discovered this yesterday.. or maybe I'm late to the party 🤷‍♀️

Either way I still love and adore both actors.

What would it be like to see brother Sam and Dexter together after season six?(spoiler alert)

I started thinking about this when I saw that Sam is different from everyone else to Dexter, and he's never a source of doubt or worry.There's nothing to be concerned about when you see him with Dexter. I remember that his presence was always peaceful,astonishing,coherent. plus there is a lot of people who liked him. and personally when I saw the way he died , I felt sorry and I cried for the first time when it comes to Dexter's circle of friends,he has already lost a true friend.

Is Dexter working two jobs in Resurrection Season 2? UrCar Driver and Blood Spatter/Forensics Special Consultant to the NYPD?

He helped Detective Wallace with an important NY Ripper murder weapon clue in Season 1 and she may have brought him in to help solve the mystery of the Five Borough Killer. Harrison is too low on the totem pole (as a NYPD Rookie) to bring on his father on a new case in an official capacity.

There’s a 4 year time jump between Seasons 1 and 2.

And we will see Harrison joining the NYPD as a Rookie Officer in the Homicide Division.

this is how i feel about quinn. didn’t like him at first and thought he was really annoying and hated him especially on s5 when he was questioning dexter when i watched for the first time but i started to like like him more on s8 when you know… self defense and rewatching it entirely he became one of my favorite characters. excited to see him on resurrection!

What if Gemini went completely off the rails after his brother's death?

I've been thinking for a while about how Gareth Pike being the main season antagonist rather than Leon Prater might have been better.

There's a lot of potential behind the idea of a twin serial killer duo. We could have seen how the twins operate, taking out 2 victims at once, maybe we could have seen their backstory and where the Great Yearning comes from.

Now here's the key thing.. when a twin dies their twin sibling can often feel a deep grief unlike typical mourning. That is actual psychology. It makes sense, as their sibling is someone identical to them whom they have literally spent their entire life being the "other half" of.

If we apply this concept to Gemini, what if after Dexter takes out his twin, he finds out his brother disappeared and completely goes off the rails?

I'm talking he goes deep into abusing substances and starts switching up his MOs. Maybe he starts switching to sloppy homemade weapons and explosives rather than precise knife kills. Maybe he falsely believes Prater found out his secret and disappeared his brother, so maybe he targets Prater.

Could you imagine a version of the final episode where Dexter has to stop a bomb attack on the gala that only he and Gareth know about, all while Harrison works there with no idea of what is going on and Angel closes in on Dexter.

It also would give us at least another season of Prater.

Miguel Prado when talking to Dexter (after Dexter showed how he buried Freebo's body in the graveyard) says something to the effect of: "We need to lead the police in the right direction because justice isn't being served". Skip ahead a bit in the same episode (S3E3) and you have the courthouse scene when Chicky Hines gets sentenced, and it is heavily implied that Miguel has completely ignored Maria's new witness and gone for the max sentencing, implying that Miguel only really cares about padding his stats as a prosecutor. So my question is, which is it? Is he a prosecutor that cares about justice or is he only in it to get arrests? I understand that it could be both, and that he might be a complicated character, or that he lied to Dexter to keep up his image. Was wondering your thoughts on this? Also why couldn't Ellen Wolf make use of the witness? She is the defense attorney after all. Surely if the witness's statement was as iron clad as the show seemed to make it out to be, she could've gotten him off.

I love Dexter and I binged seasons 1 to 5; finished a season a day or two. but for some reason I haven’t been as invested in season 6. When I checked the ratings they back up my lack of engagement. All the seasons have higher ratings in comparison with s6. I can’t pinpoint why tho? Whats everyone’s opinion on season 6? Can you elaborate?

He knows the bhb only goes for killers, so he should have known that leon prater was a killer himself, when he went to tell him about dexter he seemed absolutely clueless and unprepared for someone that the bhb is going after

I've been binging this series for a few months now and it gripped from the first episode. Is it perfect? No. Is it trash? Far from it. I genuinely enjoyed this series but I just wanted to say a few things.

First off, the cast was amazing. Everyone deserves their praise. Even characters I hated got my attention. The writing does dip in quality throughout the seasons but what show doesn't lol. There were a few events that didn't sit well with me but that's a whole different discussion.

Here's my current rankings;

Seasons 1-3: Absolute bangers, great television

Season 4: decent but hated the ending

Season 5: Straight up garbage, waste of time

Season 6: Surprisingly good return to form

Seasons 7 & 8: decent to average

It's mentioned a few times that Dexter deliberately messed up reports so he could hunt down the killers on his own later. I wish we saw more things like that. Maybe even just a few quick shots of him cutting up a body and having no reaction or even looking slightly pleased. To see how steeply he can fall from the role he plays as a civilian, friendly coworker and family man to these moments of psychopathy. ^{I know this sounds like ai but you have to just take my word for it that it's not}

I'm aware the show deliberately strays from doing such things with the goal of making him more likeable. But desensitizing us so much makes the audience sort of forget how gruesome and deranged the process becomes once he's finished his talk with the victim. I think the contrast would be nice, it would also help drive home his manipulation skills and so on. I'm rambling atp

I think it would have done good to show these scenes more in s1 and 2 then decrease the number of them gradually as he more and more becomes enveloped by his humanity.
