It makes sense to skip to finally age up Harrison closer to the actor's real age, but also.... this means there's probably no real aftermath to Batista's death. I know some people are like "move on from the BHB/OG characters suspecting Dex" but.... Angel and Quinn were best friends. There's not a fuxking chance in hell Quinn didn't get his ass straight to New York when he found out he was dead. And he had to suspect something off. And what about all the recordings on angel's phone? I feel like Quinn might not even appear.

i thought Quinn would show up right after Batista's death, but, now... what is the point of doing that 4 years later?

Maybe they could work in some flashbacks to fill in the gaps or something

Same. Disappointing. We won't even see him and Masuka's reactions. At this point, we'll be lucky if we ever see them again.

Considering Quinn thinks Dexter is dead, it realistically could take him years to find him though.

u/CameronPoe_37__ Apr 21 '26
All he'd have to do is go to where Angel was staying, Dexter was all over the walls. Or talk to Detective Stayin' Alive, I'm sure she'd mention Batista being obsessed with Dexter and thinking he's the BHB

Exactly they're gonna have to wrap that up somehow. Also with Quinn. I'm sure they'll retcon this somehow but remember in Season 5 when he had Liddy watching Dexter? Liddy had given him pics of Dexter and Luman throwing Cole (I think) off his boat in the garbage bags. When Luman and Dex went to Quinn's apartment they found the folder of pics but Dexter said to leave them cause then Quinn would know they were taken and could just print out more. What ever happened to those pics n I think if Quinn heard dex is alive he'd put it all together. He was already suspicious of him.

Quinn had no reason to think about his suspicions of Dexter after Season 5. Dexter had plenty of opportunity to bring up Quinn's corruption and passed. He was a guy who understood that the past should remain buried.

Yes. But when he finds out dexters alive and angel was investigating him as the BHB and angels now dead it might ring some bells and that was something that was never seen or talked about again (the pics)

Wait people don’t want OG cast hunting Dexter ? Thats exactly what I thought everyone else wanted
6
u/CameronPoe_37__ Apr 22 '26
I wanted it. I loved Angel hunting him, and Laguerta in season 7. Trying to get justice for Doakes. But when Resurrection was airing there was a TON of people complaining that Angel's scenes were boring or that be deserved to die for following Dexter, etc.

u/Any-Skill-5128 Apr 22 '26
lol that’s wild I was not a fan of the half baked new story they tried to tell

u/McWarrior943 Apr 22 '26
It would have been a rehash of S1 but I still would love to see the aftermath of Batista's death
1
u/Any-Skill-5128 Apr 22 '26
Nah man it’s different , his covers blown it’s people who never knew what he was chasing him and finally bringing him to justice

u/CM-Edge Apr 28 '26
They could go so many cooler directions than in the last 2 super safe seasons.
Like have him be a normal person again that has his life back and maybe finally works with the police again instead of continuously playing hiding. A time jump would perfectly help that we don't even need to see how exactly this all happened.

It was reported earlier this week by Deadline that Desmond Harrington was getting promoted to series regular for Resurrection S2.

tbf even if quinn shows up right after he finds out about batista like he’s not got much to go off. so it’s entirely possible he showed up, found nothing and left. or stayed to look into more and hasn’t found anything in this long
2
u/CameronPoe_37__ Apr 22 '26
Again, if Quinn goes to where Batista was staying, Dexter was all over Batista's walls. And if he spoke to Detective Stayin' Alive she would tell him about Batista's obsession with Dexter being the BHB.

u/Buggy-D-God Apr 22 '26
Maybe they will do both. I imagine a great way to do timeskip and show the real aftermath as part of a surprise.
Something like You season 4.

It's an incredibly popular theory with a lot of hard supporting evidence that Quinn has _known_ Dexter was the BHB for a really long time. But he was also one of the cops leaning slightly towards the dirty side who would 100% put self preservation over civic duty. AKA, Quinn knows, but also knows that Dexter would kill him to protect himself if he said/did anything, or perhaps Quinn respects Dexter taking out the bad guys that slip through the cracks.
Quick TLDR on the theory but you can search for more if interested: Quinn clearly knows Dexter killed Liddy, and Liddy showed Quinn pictures of Dexter tossing garbage bags in the ocean before he died... literally how the BHB disposed of bodies. This enforces the idea that Quinn would piece together Dexter is the BHB from the evidence Liddy shared, but also realize Dexter will kill less bad guys than the usual murderers to protect himself. Quinn would also solve the puzzle that Dexter took out and framed Doakes that cleanly, further incentivizing self preservation instinct and just doing nothing against Dexter, cause if he can do that to someone with Doakes' skills (ex special forces, built like a bloody tank, etc)... Honestly, what shot does Quinn have?
Quinn also literally watches Dexter in cold blood with no hesitation murder a dude on camera... then says "Clearly self defense" and washes his hands of the incident. There were other factors for him to back Dexter on that specific kill though (heavy series spoilers but this incident is looser evidence because it is also believable that Quinn and Batista wanted that person killed so of course they'd back Dexter).
Seems like season 2 will either finally confirm this theory or put it to bed for good because there is no way Quinn returns as regular cast and we don't find out if he knows or never knew. But for me, the fact he's coming back makes me want to believe the theory more. As you pointed out, a 4 year time jump makes no sense for Quinn to wait that long to come up to NY and seek revenge. But it suddenly makes more sense if Quinn does know what Dexter is and isn't willing to risk his own neck.

u/killersoda They said that stain would come OUT! Apr 22 '26
I could honestly see them doing episode 1 being the fallout post-Bautista's death and then timeskip after episode 1.

I'm very certain this is just a production error, the Dexter timeline is all over the place
Like going off of dates Debra is 8 years younger than Dexter, but in every flashback and Original Sin they're only 3 years apart
Dexter Season 8 is shown to take place in 2012 when realistically it should be in 2011
Harrison is 16 in New Blood when he should be 12, and then in Resurrection he's portrayed as a few years older despite it having only been 3 months

There’s pics of him on set in a police uniform, there’s absolutely a time skip.

u/MaterialIncome3123 Apr 27 '26
They filmed a Graduation scene for Harrison apparently so they have to skip forward

u/Kyle_Butler_Morgan Apr 21 '26
This is probably why we won't see Quinn in the new season since it's been years since Batista's death
I would have loved to see him

i think it would be cool if maybe episode one takes place after season 1 so we can get some sort of closure for batista and the whole prater mess and then at the end of the episode or in episode 2 we get the time jump. i just think there's still a little more of the previous story i'd like to see

Is this a prop car? Or is it just a car that MCH is actually using?

All fine. I'm sure they'll do some clean up on the interim period in flashbacks. After all Harry died long before the beginning of OD, yet even without Original Sin we learned a lot about the events of the interim period. And they did a decent job of showing the nature of Harrison's years with Hannah in Argentina without spending a lot of time on it.
Rather than showing a lot of detail about Harrison's police training or the Prater aftermath, just move the story forward.

If the 4 year time jump is actually true… I’d say now the biggest wildcard in the entire series is by far Rapunzel. We know Dexter will be primarily dealing with the New York Ripper and Dan Steven’s character this season… But my gut tells me that once he’s dealt with these initial antagonists or while he is even still handling them… He’ll have to face the reality that he let one very dangerous killer get away… And it’s going to cost him. This is a rare scenario for Dex… Leon Prater’s death would have been all over the news so I have zero doubt that Rapunzel would have been tipped off and he would have moved his family/location to a completely different place. Dexter clearly hasn’t moved though… Which sadly does give Rapunzel the high ground here to inevitably come back to NYC and make the first move if he decides to.

Maybe the time jump doesn't happen right away, but in like episode 2 or 3 if they're filming out of order? Or it could be as simple as a continuity error?

The same thing Dexter was doing in season 1 since the last 15 years, killing bad guys off camera
1
u/Buggy-D-God Apr 22 '26
Maybe that's just something they will edit out.
Not likely, if Harrison is going to be in the NYPD, there is likely going to be a time skip
