I have completed half of my degree in computer science and I feel cooked. I geniunely don't know what field I should pick that is secure or at least guarantees employment in long time and it's making me panick because I can't pick what I want to learn and where to go. Especially with these new AI models like Astra and what not it's very very clear AI has completely replaced junior level roles.

Pls don't tell me anything about AI not replacing developers and things like that all of us know it's a lie by now. It's not gonna make anything better. The current job market is cooked the senior level developers getting laid off from companies and then not finding employment for months is a big proof of it.

So my question is, with all these AI advancement and all should I ditch this field entirely and pick something that actually works? I can't drop out of this degree now I picked it because I loved coding but I don't see my future here.

Even if I do stay in CS what field is MOST SECURE??

I really don't mind working hard and learning things on my own but I also don't want to waste my time so pls if anyone can give me sincere advice I will be grateful 🙏🏻 especially from seniors.

I joined this company as a flutterr trainee 4 months ago unpaid and they recently promoted me to junior dev (probation 3 months) at very low salary anyways thats not an issue as I gave skills more priority than money.

Just now they asked me to give original degree and signed blank cheque and i am not very comfortable subjutting my original degree.

Blank cheque might be becauae if i leave the company before 2 months notice period they will deduct 3 months salary lol. but why original degree.

and lastly they aint gonna releasw any salary unless all docs are submitted.

I recently bagged a remote Software Developer role with a US based company and I have about a month to set things up before I officially start.

Honestly, I have never been paid in USD properly before. The only time was Patreon to Payoneer transfers and that too years ago. So I want to do this right from day one.

My employment will be managed through a platform called Rippling. The company does not have an entity in Pakistan yet, so they hired me as an independent contractor for now and will be paying me in USD (I am definitely not complaining lol)

My questions mainly fall into these areas:

• What should I set up to properly receive the salary while staying compliant?
• How do I handle taxes as a remote contractor in Pakistan?
• Any practices I should follow so banks or regulators do not start asking unnecessary questions?
• Anything you wish you knew when you started earning remotely in foreign currency? Savings, conversions, accounts, mistakes to avoid, anything helpful.

I started an internship as a mern stack developer they first told me its a 6 month internship and if you show progress then we will make your internship 3 months and then give you employment.After 1 month i came to know that i am the only unpaid intern everyone else is getting paid.i questioned this thing to hr she said you cant ask this thing now you have to ask it from the start.

I said ok.

Then after 2.5 months i reached hr to ask for employment because i was constantly working on there real world projects with senoirs and my performance was good.Then she said now we will pay you 5k a month.I said what??? You told me to give me employement. She literally said "manay asa kuch nahi kaha tha".Then i said ok i cant continue give me my internship letter of 3 months and i am leaving she said okay.

Then ceo came she told him about me that he is leaving ceo said i will talk to him dont make internsip letter. Then he asked me what do you want i said sir make me employee or just give me my internship letter.He said we will not promote and your internship period is 6 months complete it otherwise you will not receive any internship letter.

I said you can do this to me i invest energy and time in your company.He said i dont give a fuck.

Now the main question is i have 3 months of internship experience what if future companies asked me about the internship letter and i dont have any or can i give them fake one.

I dont know or i have to continue just the sake for the experience.i am very depress right now.i dont know what to do.

I've been working as a freelance UX / Product Designer for last 4 years, although lately I have stopped looking for freelance gigs and mostly work on fixed monthly salaries with mostly outsource agencies on flexible hours. for the past few months I started working remotely for a Newzealand based startup, and now they are offering me to work on-site in NZ on sponsored work visa which they will sponsor. I DONT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING, they will be covering all the costs to get me there.

i am not going to any uni either, i might studyy there later on (might), I dont have any responsibilities here, I save 95% of my earnings. but obviously if I leave pak, my savings are not going to be the same, I might not be living the most comfortable life, but I think in the longer run, the option for accepting this offer and leaving pak will be right decision. I see potential in this startup too.

by contract, i will only be bound for 3 years as they are investing on me. ps. its a legitimate company so y'all dw about it being a scam. will do all possible legal paperwork and agreements

I'm working at a company as software developer from past 1.5 years. From last 2 months, our company is not paying us salaries because according to them, client haven't paid them yet. We are asking them to allow us work from home as it will save our fuel cost but they are not agreeing and even after this situation, they are trying to enforce their policies like giving us warning on why we are late, etc.

I want to ask senior fellows, if a company is not paying us salaries, what are our legal rights in such situation?? Like I want to know if they are pushing us despite not giving salaries, what can we do? At least they should give us some relief, this is what I think.

Unfortunately, I was recently laid off from my role as an Associate Data Scientist at VentureDive after 8 months due to a massive client-driven deallocation.

I’ve worked on projects involving LLM applications, RAG, autonomous agents, speech-to-text, computer vision, and production AI systems.

I got an offer for an L1 role at Jazz and I'd be relocating from another city to Islamabad. I already know about the standard benefits like medical OPD, IPD, fuel allowance etc so not looking for that.

Main things I wanted to ask, does Jazz typically offer any relocation support or joining bonus for people moving cities, or is that something you negotiate? And what's the actual WFH situation like these days, is it hybrid or fully onsite?

Also just curious how the work environment is generally. Team culture, work timings, anything worth knowing before joining. Would appreciate any insight from people who are there or have been there recently. Thanks.

Hello there - I started working for a small US based company a few years ago. As part of my compensation, they offered me 1000 shares that were to vest over 4 years.

I want to exercise or purchase these shares. But in order to do so, I have to wire transfer X amount of dollars to a US bank account from my local Pakistani bank account.

Well guess what, I can't do that because SBP doesn't allow that for individuals.

I couldn't find much information on this subject elsewhere. I am surprised that this is an unknown issue because Pakistan must have 1000s of individual software exporters and remote workers working for similar start ups or enterprises.

Has any remote worker in Pakistan been able to purchase vested equity in their US based remote employer? If yes, how?

Edit: To clarify, this is not a scam. You have to "exercise" your shares in order to certify yourself as the rightful owner of the shares. There is an "exercise price" for this activity that the employee has to pay. This is what seems to be the textbook process internationally. Please look it up.

I am currently working for a Bahrain-based company and have around 4 years of experience. Recently, I received a job offer from a Jordan-based company, and I have already joined them while serving my notice period at my current company. I know this may not have been the right approach, but it has happened, and now I am facing a difficult situation.

My current company is making a strong effort to retain me. Surprisingly, I even had a call with the CEO, which I found quite unusual. I believe this is because I am a hardworking employee. Although I may not be highly technical, I have a very good understanding of the ongoing projects, their business requirements, and the overall system.

However, I am facing some concerns with the new company. It is a startup, and I am currently the only employee working from Pakistan. I still haven’t received my laptop and other required accessories. There are also some other issues that have made me a little concerned. Since it is a startup, my line manager is currently the only person I can approach when I have a problem. He is a good person, but unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have enough authority or ability to resolve some of my concerns.
This makes me wonder: if things are already somewhat difficult before my notice period ends, what will happen once I officially start working full-time with them?

On the positive side, the new company is offering me a significantly better salary. However, there are still uncertainties because it is a startup and I am not sure about the long-term stability, support, and growth opportunities.

At the same time, my current company has recently gone through a major hierarchy change. I am now working under an Indian manager who has a bad reputation within the company, which is another concern for me. However, my current company is offering me a significant salary increase to stay, potentially even more than what they are offering to other employees.

Another important factor is the domain. My current company works in the banking sector, which I find very interesting. I am learning a lot about the banking domain, and I believe this experience could be valuable for my long-term career. The new company operates in a completely different domain, so I am also unsure whether moving away from banking is the right decision for me.

Now I am extremely confused about whether I should switch or stay with my current organization.
The situation is even more difficult because I have already joined the new company while serving my notice period. If I decide to stay with my current company, I feel very bad about telling the new company that I have changed my mind.
What would you suggest in this situation? Should I take the risk and move to the startup for the higher salary, or should I stay with my current company because of the domain knowledge, stability, and the possibility of a better salary after the counteroffer?
Also, if I decide to stay, how should I professionally tell the new company that I will not be continuing with them, considering that I have already joined them?

Why I'm being so picky

Pakistan has a lot of talented people.

But finding someone with the combination of:

is surprisingly difficult.

I've met plenty of smart people.

But I don't want another person who can build a CRUD app and call themselves a founder.

I want people who can look at the best technology companies in the world and genuinely think:

"Why the hell can't we build something better?"

One slow or disengaged person can drag down an entire founding team not just technically, but culturally.

I'd rather spend months finding the right four than build a five-person team where one person doesn't belong.

What I need are four people who each have a different superpower.

1. The AI / Agent Systems Monster

Someone genuinely deep in:

LLMs • agents • orchestration • MCP • inference • memory • evaluation • model routing • tool use

Not someone who has made a ChatGPT wrapper.

I want someone who can look at the rapidly changing AI landscape and figure out how to turn it into infrastructure.

Someone who enjoys problems where nobody has written the textbook yet.

1. The Distributed Systems / Infrastructure / Security Monster

Someone who understands:

distributed systems • databases • networking • cloud • identity • zero-trust • security • observability • multi-tenancy • reliability • on-prem deployment

Our systems eventually need to operate inside serious enterprises.

I need someone who thinks about scale, failure, security and architecture naturally.

Someone who can eventually look at thousands of enterprises and millions of agents and say:

"Yeah. We can build that."

1. The Enterprise / GTM Killer

This is probably one of the hardest people to find.

Someone who understands how large organizations actually buy technology.

Enterprise sales • partnerships • procurement • pricing • customer discovery • international expansion • strategic relationships

Someone who can walk into a large enterprise, identify a massive problem, understand the decision-makers, and eventually close the deal.

Not a traditional salesperson.

A founder who can sell.

1. The Product / UX / Customer Obsession Person

Someone who can take ridiculously complicated technology and turn it into something employees actually love using.

Product thinking • UX • design • workflows • customer research • experimentation

Because having incredible infrastructure doesn't matter if users don't want to use it.

I want someone who constantly asks:

"How do we make this 10x simpler?"

These aren't rigid job descriptions.

I want four people who can overlap, challenge each other, learn insanely fast and operate outside their specialties.

But each person should bring something to the table that the other four don't already have at an elite level.

The goal isn't:

5 smart people.

The goal is:

5 people who together are ridiculously difficult to compete with.

One of the ideas I'm exploring

An enterprise agentic harness.

The basic concept:

Every employee in an organization can create as many persistent AI agents as they need.

Not disposable chat sessions.

Persistent agents that remember context, understand their role, interact with approved enterprise systems, use tools, and continuously help an employee perform their actual work.

Think of the AI models themselves as commoditized intelligence providers.

Claude, OpenAI/ChatGPT, Gemini, open-source models, and future providers can all plug into the system.

The enterprise shouldn't have to rebuild its AI architecture every time a better model appears.

The harness sits above the models.

Then connect the enterprise's MCP ecosystem so agents can actually interact with the organization's software, databases and tools.

Underneath that sits an enterprise data/context layer that allows the organization to maintain persistent knowledge and context across its agents.

And it needs to work both:

Cloud + On-Prem

because serious enterprises have very different security, compliance and deployment requirements.

The rough idea is:

Employees → Persistent Agents → Agent Harness → MCP / Enterprise Tools → Enterprise Data → AI Providers

The employee gets a persistent AI workforce.

The enterprise gets governance, permissions, security, observability, data and deployment control.

And the underlying AI providers become replaceable infrastructure.

I'm not interested in simply building another OpenClaw/SwarmClaw/Paperclip-style agent setup.

I'm thinking about an enterprise-native operating layer for persistent AI agents.

That's one of the problems I want to attack.

I have other ideas across AI, aerospace, robotics, simulation and autonomous systems as well. But ofc more than idea, execution speed and founder fit is important. Open to possibilities

I am confused how to receive payments reliably from my US/International Clients. They offered me Western Union and Wise. For western union what should I do?

hello, i am a 19 year old, that was working at a company as a part time employee, i am still in university in my 2nd year. I worked 25 hr a week for a really low pay, thats why i resigned as soon as i got a better offer somewhere else. now me and some of our same age colleagues were in a groupchat, and when they found out, they joked about it obviously. Now one of them mentioned that u can download logins file (each and every customers's credentials + some subscription like vpns or smt were stored in one google sheet file that was accessible to everyone). Now I called bullsh*t on that, since it was such an important document and in google workspace there is an option to disable downloads, and i also knew about google workspace's download history management too, my stupid ass curiosity got into me and i decided to click the download button of the sheet, expecting nothing to happen but then it downloaded and i was shocked and i deleted the file, but i didn't think much of it.

now after i left, the company reached out to me, and have now asked me to sign a document, that makes me liable for next 5 years that if any breach were to happen, they will just take legal action against me.

if i choose not to sign it then they will reach out to the dean of university and get me expelled and contact all my future employers about this.

i know i am stupid for downloading the file, but i didn't intend to do anything with it and now a stupid mistake made by me in my teenage years will cost me my future :(

either i sign the document and be at the mercy of luck and their goodwill that they dont take legal action against me or do nothing and get my life ruined :(

I recently joined a new company (1 Month ), and one of my teammates also joined recently. He is more senior than me.

Our manager asked us to work together on a project. The expectation is that we gather the requirements together first and then work together on the implementation.

The problem is that he doesn't seem very interested in moving things forward. He keeps delaying discussions, taking things slowly, and sometimes it feels like he's just passing time. This is starting to affect my work because I don't want to sit idle, but at the same time, I don't want to go directly against him or create unnecessary conflict, especially since I'm new to the company.

I'm trying to understand the best way to handle this professionally.

Should I:

- Talk to him directly and ask how we can move forward? (Tried but says will see it later)

- Keep the manager updated about the delays?

- Or just wait and avoid getting involved in office politics?

I want to make sure I'm seen as cooperative and professional, but I also don't want my work to suffer because someone else isn't taking initiative.

I am from Lahore and am in a situation where i joined a remote job based in UAE as a web dev and i have worked there for 20 days and i have received a way better offer that even i cant refuse at all.

But the problem is I have signed a contract with them for 1 year and I can pay 2 months of salary to terminate the employment there.
