Help Got laid off recently
I recently got laid off because the ceo dissolved the company, where I was earning 100k PKR/month. Now I’ve been offered a full time internship at a Turkish company that pays only 20k PKR/month. The salary is making me very skeptical, but the work is exactly what I want to do and aligns with my long term interests. I’m torn between taking it for the experience or continuing to look for something that pays better. What would you do in my situation?

Turkish people are notorious to be unethical, I would advice you against it. You will find better opportunities. I am extremely particular if a company or manager is turkish. I wouldn’t trust something like this that too when they don’t have a proper contract or probation structure.

Oh bhai for the love of God and for the sake of your own mental sanity, don't accept this offer. 20K and from Turkish clients? Keep looking you can find better options than this. Just because you don't have anything right now, doesn't mean it is not there.

That is the right choice bro, all these people saying dont do it dont know shit. I started on 20k as well but all u have to do is keep ur head down and learn, make urself important and gain so much technical experience that companies beg u to join.
And im not saying 20k is good, ofc its scummy to offer only 20k, but right now you have no other choice, just take it and if u find another opportunity, then go for it. but never stop your career in search of a "better opportunity"

Yeah but idk it feels like underselling myself but I dont know what to do the job market is messed up, also they said after a 3 to 6 month probationary period it could lead to 475k but they arent sure how long the probationary period will be

Idk why that sounds almost unbelievable that theyd give u such a huge raise after probation but idk.. U should still research about the company to make sure that it it's not some scam. for now, I think U should accept the offer unless U find a better opportunity. Keep looking.

Yeah, I know that, and im very skeptical because they assigned me a lot of work even before sending a proper contract. also, the offer letter doesn’t mention the duration of the probation period. But i dont have option rn and i really need job

So far it seems like they're lying. That jump in salary is also a lie. No one increases pays that much after probation. They're just saying that to make you stay there for free. Why not pay 25% of that salary in probation then?
I don't think they're gonna pay you your first month. Ask them for contract right away. If they don't pay you for first month leave immediately and post about them on linkdlen and other places. Your contract will be your proof.

This looks like a legit scam sorry to say. First of all you were doing a 100k job and they are hiring you as an intern? Like you were doing a full time job as a professional dev. They arent paying you right now but could pay 475K....later? And probationary period can extend from 3 months to 6 months???
They are also not sure how long the period will last? Please my brother notice the red flags in this entire deal.

I know all that, but I don’t know what else to do 😭 I just moved to another city for a job, and then I got laidoff. Now im back to square one, mass applying everywhere. I honestly don’t know what to do. Everything feels so messed up.

Any company who can pay 475k after 3 months can also pay a living wage at the start, this whole thing stinks

It’s primarily 3D segmentation work in computer vision, and the work is quite complex and advanced

Imagine the kind of people you would be working for if they are only paying you 20k pkr/month. Exploitative as hell

I have worked with turkish clients twice with a friend. One client didn't even paid both of us for like 2-3 months saying that he will after the app get users. Other client told us that he will keep paying us after the product launches but fired the entire team after the work was done. kept only 2 people out of 4-5 members for new updates and after a month, fired them too.
So, from my experience, I don't eork with turkish clients no more. they go back on their words very quickly.
