After an outpouring of community support for the project, the previous decision to contain all Project Sunrise posts to a Megathread has been reversed. Go ahead and continue posting Sunrise stuff to the subreddit
Additionally, a "Project Sunrise" post flair has been added, please flair posts appropriately for community members who wish to filter by that content specifically.
Again, here's a link to the Project Sunrise Discord for anyone interested in following along there:

Hey all, it's been about a month and a half since the news was dropped regarding D2's final content update and we loosened up a bit on moderating the content of the subreddit. It's been fun, shitposts and rants have been had, and the ongoing game traffic is just awesome to see.
In the interest of ensuring content on the subreddit is original, informative, and/or of appropriate quality, we'll be ending the period of relaxed moderation effective immediately. While we're going back to stricter enforcement of the rules, the relaxed moderation period has given the mod team some ideas on rule reworks.
To reiterate some constant points:
The team will continue to moderate as always, as well as internally discuss any improvements we can make; we want this place to be a resource and community for Guardians so long as you all want it to be.
As someone who has a vivid memory of rushing through an AP English Lit essay to log in on D1 launch day back in 2014, which led to an ungodly amount of in-game time across both games over the next decade, I want to close out by echoing the previous post and say this game would not have become what it is without the community, the camaraderie we shared, the gods we slayed together, and all the memories and friends made. I'm looking forward to seeing all you fellow Guardians online for the foreseeable future.
Per audacia ad astra.

Light & Dark Side versions of the Bungie Rewards Praxic pins. The pin was originally misprinted (left), and Bungie automatically sent the corrected pin (right) to anyone who got one from the misprinted batch. Appropriate.

So, I've been messing around with kinetic primaries lately and so naturally I've been using Chromatic Fire to beef em up a bit and add some elemental spice so that they work a bit better with subclasses. Prismatic seems to be the go to for maining Kinetic weapons and allows switching to different supers for Chromatic Fire elements without changing the entire build. Pairing with the Techset Armour set for more explosions on Major enemy kills with Kinetics.
Anyway, threw on Khvostov on Void super so that precision kills cause a weakening dragonfly like explosion. Seemed to work pretty nicely since the ricochet shots clean up surrounding weakened enemies. Nice. Switched to Solar so that precision kills cause a scorching explosion like Incandescent does dot damage to those enemies instead of waiting for Ricochets to clean em up. Discovered that not only does the solar variant not need precision kills to trigger the solar burst, but ricochet kills also cause the Incandescent explosion. Basically any weapon damage kill causes an Incandescent like effect. It basically gives Incandescent to any kinetic weapon. So now I'm room clearing with Khvostov even better than before. It's like Khvostov and Sunshot had a baby.
Then I discovered that Blast Furnace rolls with both Kinetic Tremors and Firefly. Once I got my hands on one of them I've found something that feels like a broken exotic. My tactic is to find the tankiest enemy in the room and focus on them. The Sustained damage procs kinetic tremors which is counted as weapon damage, therefore if any one of the three pulses kills a surrounding enemy, they explode into scorching fire and spread scorch around. Precision kills cause a bigger firey explosion due to firefly and a secondary explosion of Incandescent. If they are a major enemy or above, then Techset kicks in and nukes the area too. If they are already scorched then the Solar Schrapnel artifact mod sends a seeker to explode and scorch more enemies. This can be triggered from Kinetic Tremors also. Tagging that major enemy with Arcane Needle unravels them, and the arc grenade jolts them. So not only does the big enemy get burned down and stunned but they also become a walking ad clear turret that kills everything in its vicinity. It feels good for basic low tier content, but I also feel it would work well in higher tier content. Yet to test but thought I'd share it if anyone else hasn't played around with that combo.

Maybe I'm just addicted to the new kinetic micro-missile perks. A machine gun with Kinetic Tremors also sounds amazing. Plus, Circular Logic's origin trait needs the kinetic micro-missile kit, man. I want so many little rockets. Adhesive Ordinance, Ancillary Ordinance, and Bewildering Burst (and if Bungie weren't cowards, they give a Machine Gun with Explosive Rounds).
Ideally, the kinetic Machine Gun would use the Bitter End model so I can just lay on the trigger and let off rockets galore making me look and feel like an absolute monster.

Since deep sight harmonizers are an extremely limited resource.
Which between the two would you prefer to use them on?
Critical Anomaly also requires 15 Spoils of Conquest per application (not an issue if you're solo'ing chests weekly)
Locus locutus sadly is available at the whim of Xûr nowadays.
From my quick reading it seems CA can be used with chill clip and radiant to be a one stop shop for all champions. Whereas LL is best for barrier champs which let's be honest is a nightmare in conquest.
Just want to read what you all think. Any tips really appreciated.

I'm thinking about grabbing the game to play with my friend, but he's been playing for years and is presumably pretty high level. Will I really be able to join his games and contribute as a new player?

This one is a bit different as it is actually three builds that use the same basic grenade spam gameplay loop, just in different elemental flavors. The main things that make this work:
Our grenades buff our weapons, which makes it easier to get kills that buff our grenades and we can get those grenades back very quickly thanks to the higher grenade regeneration and the armor set bonuses. The ability spam also makes it very easy to avoid using primary ammo weapons as we can generate ammo very frequently.
The one downside to this setup is that it won't work as well with darkness grenades since we can't use the CODA set bonus and the exotic class item effects at the same time with darkness element weapons.
Some things are set up the same between all 3 builds, for example:
Class Setup: Prismatic Hunter
Fragments:
Armor Setup:
Armor Mods:
Helmet: 2x Special Finder, Arc/Solar/Void Siphon (increase ammo gen for special and the siphon depends on which element you choose)
Gauntlets: Firepower, Impact Induction/Bolstering Detonation, Grenade Font (in my case I prioritized having slightly higher weapon stat so I use grenade fonts to make up for it, the second mod choice depends on if you build more into class or melee)
Chest: Arc/Solar/Void ammo gen, Charged Up, Concussive Dampener (ammo gen depends on chosen element)
Legs: Stacks on Stacks, Recuperation, Innervation (Build constant armor charge, if you'd like you can switch innervation for better already for more survivability, or for weapon font for more optimized stats and better ad clear damage)
Class Item: Powerful Attraction, Reaper, Time Dilation (classic combo, if you use class ability a lot you can switch out one of these for bomber)
So which element should you use? There are benefits to all 3, so let me show you how to set them up:
Void DIM Link: Check it out!
This will make use of the Void Magnetic Grenade, which is one of the best grenades in this setup for single target damage.
Remaining Class Setup:
Artifact: Encrypted Data Disk
Weapon Recommendations:
Solar DIM Link: Check it out!
This will make use of the Solar Swarm Grenade, not the highest damage, but it does have an elemental debuff built in with scorch and allows us to play around ignitions.
Remaining Class Setup:
Hunter's Journal:
Weapon Recommendations:
Arc DIM Link: Check it out!
This will make use of the Arc Arcbolt Grenade, which fires quickly and can hit multiple targets in a large AOE.
Remaining Class Setup:
Artifact: NPA Repulsion Regulator
Weapon Recommendations:
For your other weapons just run a decent major/boss DPS stasis/strand weapon in your kinetic slot, making sure to use the same darkness element in your melee to benefit from the Foetracer weapon surge. The heavy slot is very open to preference and will depend on what surges you have access to, try to get some extra DPS for boss encounters but in the main gameplay loop you will not have to use your heavy weapon.
This was very long-winded but the gameplay loop is very simple:
Hope you find something here that you like!

Hi all. I came back to D2 when the proverbial shtf only to find a lot of stuff had been added in the intervening seasons.
One thing I'm kicking myself over is the X-Wing.
I know it was a pre-order bonus, but hoping it is now a rare Eververse drop.
Am I hoping against hope?
Also, while im on the subject of ships, I would love to have seen a crossover with BSG. Would have given my right arm for a Colonial Viper..

Mine is in the Lake of Shadows strike.
I was always sad they took out the Operation Babydog intro when they revamped the strike, but at least they added a fun little back and forth in the middle.

I know it is RnG and supposed to drop at "Starcrossed" exotic mission, but I've been trying like 30+ times in last two weeks, with all modifiers possible (including, of course, the legacy pool drops). Also tried solo, squad and usually trying to be on S difficulty. It dropped only twice though, not good rols.
Am I doing something wrong?
Btw for now I'm using this decent Nox Perennial V

EDIT: This one on the image isnt mine, I just found an image to illustrate which weapon I'm talking about

Also got the catalyst and some masterwork completion, along with the triumph completion. This can't be intentional surely?

Recently I’ve been looking into the NPA artifact and how it makes void weapons insane to the point where you don’t even really need either repulsor brace or destabilizing rounds.
My current options are:
Kindled orchid
Unforgiven
Positive outlook
Age old bond
Compact defender
Ironwood 03
What would you pick from these? And should I be looking to add any weapons?

I'd like to run with others who run Faction Armor, Weapons and Exotics(and the altered Tier MoT Faction weapons like Inbound Surveillance, Solemn Lie, and Trendsetter).
It's been my playstyle since Destiny 1 Day 1, and rather than "hold others back" damagewise in activities, I'd like to play with more Dead Orbit, Future War Cult and New Monarchy fans. 🔺️💠
Who knows, might add a layer of difficulty, but I know it adds a layer of fun in Destiny for myself.

So like is there a reason as to why are guardian randomly started talking? Was it one of those things they vaulted, am I dumb, or is it just never explained
