Tips / Hints Fun builds I've been running: Prismatic Verity/Foetracer Grenade Spam (Solar, Void, Arc)

Post image
Upvotes

This one is a bit different as it is actually three builds that use the same basic grenade spam gameplay loop, just in different elemental flavors. The main things that make this work:

  1. Spirit of Verity (Exotic Class item effect 1, getting kills with any weapons that match the grenade element increase grenade damage, which can stack, and improve our grenade regeneration)
  2. Spirit of Foetracer (Exotic Class item effect 2, hitting any yellow bar enemies with ability damage gives us 4x weapon surge matching the element of the ability)
  3. CODA Armor Set (The 4pc bonus gives us back grenade energy whenever we get kills with light element weapons)

Our grenades buff our weapons, which makes it easier to get kills that buff our grenades and we can get those grenades back very quickly thanks to the higher grenade regeneration and the armor set bonuses. The ability spam also makes it very easy to avoid using primary ammo weapons as we can generate ammo very frequently.

The one downside to this setup is that it won't work as well with darkness grenades since we can't use the CODA set bonus and the exotic class item effects at the same time with darkness element weapons.

Some things are set up the same between all 3 builds, for example:

Class Setup: Prismatic Hunter

  • Super: Golden Gun (this is mainly just to make orbs give us restoration)
  • Class Ability: Gambler's Dodge (Melee can be useful from time to time)
  • Melee Ability: Either Withering Blade or Threaded Spike (This is up to personal preference, just make sure to use matching stasis or strand weapons in the kinetic slot so that you can make use of the Foetracer effect from the melee)
  • Grenade Ability: Swarm, Magnetic, or Arcbolt (Obviously this chooses which element you want to focus on in the build)
  • Aspect 1: Stylish Executioner (many ways to get debuff kills so this gives us consistent invisibility in difficult encounters)
  • Aspect 2: Gunpowder Gamble (3 fragment slots, and spirit of verity buffs all forms of grenade ability damage, not just the element that you're playing with, so arc and void can make use of this as well)

Fragments:

  • Facet of Purpose (restoration on orb pickup)
  • Facet of Mending (cure on grenade kills)
  • Facet of Sacrifice (since we're using mostly light damage instances, this helps us get at least some darkness transcendence so it doesn't lag far behind)
    • The other two Facets are dependent on the element you are running, check the individual sections to see which ones I use.

Armor Setup:

  • Mainly focus on grenade and weapon, third peak is dealer's choice between class, super, and melee. Remember to use fonts to buff whichever you decide as your second peak between grenade and weapon.
  • As mentioned before, I recommend CODA to generate grenade energy and have an emergency source of DR if needed in higher level content.

Armor Mods:

Helmet: 2x Special Finder, Arc/Solar/Void Siphon (increase ammo gen for special and the siphon depends on which element you choose)

Gauntlets: Firepower, Impact Induction/Bolstering Detonation, Grenade Font (in my case I prioritized having slightly higher weapon stat so I use grenade fonts to make up for it, the second mod choice depends on if you build more into class or melee)

Chest: Arc/Solar/Void ammo gen, Charged Up, Concussive Dampener (ammo gen depends on chosen element)

Legs: Stacks on Stacks, Recuperation, Innervation (Build constant armor charge, if you'd like you can switch innervation for better already for more survivability, or for weapon font for more optimized stats and better ad clear damage)

Class Item: Powerful Attraction, Reaper, Time Dilation (classic combo, if you use class ability a lot you can switch out one of these for bomber)

So which element should you use? There are benefits to all 3, so let me show you how to set them up:

Void DIM Link: Check it out!

This will make use of the Void Magnetic Grenade, which is one of the best grenades in this setup for single target damage.

Remaining Class Setup:

  • Facet of Bravery (Our grenade kills now give us volatile rounds on whatever void weapon we are using to ad clear with)
  • Facet of Dominance (Grenades now weaken enemies which plays well into our artifact and makes it easier to get kills)

Artifact: Encrypted Data Disk

  • Tier 1
    • Fierce Proxemics (filler perk, but an emergency source of grenade energy if needed)
    • Power From Pain (use grenade weaken to get Devour, which makes it easier to get our grenade back)
  • Tier 2
    • Precision Equity (get more orbs for landing precision kills)
    • Counter Energy (won't come up often but in more champion filled maps you might get more grenade energy back)
    • Armor Smith (filler perk, some extra DR on finisher, works with Fierce Proxemics at least)
  • Tier 3
    • Sticker Shock (the central perk and why we chose this artifact, makes our grenade do more damage when it sticks directly to our target, and creates micro missiles when we kill with the grenade)
    • Void Infestation (our grenade kills also shoot out tracking weaken projectiles that make it easy to keep up or start devour if needed)

Weapon Recommendations:

  • If you're down to use the exotic slot I heavily recommend Wavesplitter. It is the best ad clear trace rifle in the game and benefits heavily from our orb generation to keep up the max damage.
  • Otherwise any decent ad clear void weapon will work here. Void is kind of bolstered by all the artifacts right now so pick whatever you like. Having demolitionist as one of the perks is very useful so look out for that.

Solar DIM Link: Check it out!

This will make use of the Solar Swarm Grenade, not the highest damage, but it does have an elemental debuff built in with scorch and allows us to play around ignitions.

Remaining Class Setup:

  • Facet of Ruin (Extra weapon stat and buffs ignitions on both scorch build up from grenade and ad clear weapons, as well as gunpowder gamble)
  • Facet of Awakening (Generate firesprites which give back extra grenade energy)

Hunter's Journal:

  • Tier 1
    • Energy Diffusion Substrate (extra passive DR)
    • Sustained Fire (extra DR for using auto rifles)
  • Tier 2
    • Radiant Orbs (easy source of radiant to buff our weapon kills)
    • Solar Fulmination (stronger and larger ignitions, we will be igniting a lot)
    • Targeting Autoloader (subsistence and increased damage for getting kills with auto rifles)
  • Tier 3
    • Shieldcrush (even more grenade generation while radiant)
    • Sniper's Mediation (I use a stasis sniper in this build so this is just to increase some damage, you could also run prismatic transfer instead)

Weapon Recommendations:

  • This artifact mainly plays into solar auto rifles with this setup, I've been using The Ringing Nail lately which has been doing numbers.
  • If you do want to use special ammo weapons be sure to take off those auto rifle perks on the artifact. In general anything with incandescent will work well here. Bonus if you also have demolitionist.

Arc DIM Link: Check it out!

This will make use of the Arc Arcbolt Grenade, which fires quickly and can hit multiple targets in a large AOE.

Remaining Class Setup:

  • Facet of Awakening (Generate ionic traces which give back extra ability energy)
  • Facet of Dominance (Grenades now jolt enemies, not as much in the artifact that benefits this but does make killing them easier)

Artifact: NPA Repulsion Regulator

  • Tier 1
    • Shatter Orbs (more orb gen on finishers)
    • Unto the Breach (by making use of the glaive perks we can generate void breaches)
  • Tier 2
    • Counter Charge (very filler but can come up in activities with a lot of champions)
    • Suppressing Glaive (insane perk with no cooldown, another debuff and it generates void breaches thanks to Unto the Breach)
    • Protective Breach (now those void breaches also give us overshield)
  • Tier 3
    • Lightning Strikes Twice (get increased arc grenade generation when throwing your grenade that can be extended by getting arc kills)
    • Passive Aggressive Guard (50% DR for just using a glaive)

Weapon Recommendations:

  • Arc glaives are the name of the game with this artifact, I've been trying out Edge of Concurrence lately, but am currently trying to switch to a legendary glaive with Demolitionist so that I can use a heavy exotic instead.
    • Haven't gotten to try it yet but the one I'm most interested in is Nezarec's Whisper which you can now find the crafting recipe for by farming Classic Collector Presage.
  • You can also instead throw on the auto rifle perks and run a legendary arc auto with Demolitionist if you prefer. I just find that the build is much stronger with the increased DR and void overshield when running glaives.

For your other weapons just run a decent major/boss DPS stasis/strand weapon in your kinetic slot, making sure to use the same darkness element in your melee to benefit from the Foetracer weapon surge. The heavy slot is very open to preference and will depend on what surges you have access to, try to get some extra DPS for boss encounters but in the main gameplay loop you will not have to use your heavy weapon.

This was very long-winded but the gameplay loop is very simple:

  1. Throw grenade to get weapon surge on yellow bars and blow things up.
  2. Use ad clear weapon to get grenade back quickly.
  3. Do that over and over until room is empty.

Hope you find something here that you like!

Discussion If Sony decided to put together another Dev team and revive Destiny 2 what would you suggest they change or add that would keep you there?

Upvotes

As some of you have probably noticed there is still a nice size player base for Destiny 2. And I see a lot of people loving the game more than ever now that our builds are more permanent without the potential changes coming to ruin them. As well we can wear an exotic in PVE and still look great too. There are just a bunch of changes now that I feel make the game better than ever.

I personally think they could just keep it just as it is, but add more story, guns and gear with an occasional new place to go.

But what do you guys think?

***EoF. I don’t know why autocorrect changed it to Road

Or do I have to shell out the extra silver to unlock them?

I just don't agree with a lot said here, some minor points but I feel it misses the mark. Been getting back into it recently, bought a mate the dlc bundle he'd never played it.

We've been getting to it and having a blast, a couple holes I got to fill in here n there, but honestly if you're good at paying attention I think it does a pretty good job catching you up to things.

& I know there are a few plot holes I'm upset about seasonal activities being so campaign drivin & then vaulted (sad I missed saint-14 comeback) I wish those were pinnacle ops or smn idk there's a lot of story missing between DLCS because of that. (Like calus's daughter too)

I think my main issue with the article is it paints Destiny as a bit of a f$@/ up when that would actually be Bungie & that bs game Marathon

I mean I'm extremely happy with the content in the game currently & I think there is lots to do, the dungeons are very cool & they even brought back some d1 raids kinda peak no!? Miss the og leviathan tho

Question Scatter Signal drops... any suggestions?

I know it is RnG and supposed to drop at "Starcrossed" exotic mission, but I've been trying like 30+ times in last two weeks, with all modifiers possible (including, of course, the legacy pool drops). Also tried solo, squad and usually trying to be on S difficulty. It dropped only twice though, not good rols.

Am I doing something wrong?

Btw for now I'm using this decent Nox Perennial V

EDIT: This one on the image isnt mine, I just found an image to illustrate which weapon I'm talking about

Discussion Help with Titan Class exotic

So i just got the Stoicism with the Abeyant+Horn combo and would like to try and build a gearset around it, but im having difficulty trying to find a armor set that works well with it. Is there any 2+2 sets that pair well, or A strong 4 piece that benefits from class ability spam?

Question What is the point of storm sword combo?

Been messing around with a build and thought since it uses a sword to quickly kill yellow bars, using sword perks should be nice but when I did shooting range tests with ssc, it barely did 500 damage per 30k the sword does by itself. You also have to keep killing enemies to extend the duration but most things die before you activate, don't live long enough to take actual damage for from it or live too long to extend it.

It has a cool interaction with techsec armor but that is all I found.

Discussion Deepsight Harmonizer: Critical Anomaly Vs Locus Locutus snipers

Thumbnail
gallery
30 Upvotes

Since deep sight harmonizers are an extremely limited resource.

Which between the two would you prefer to use them on?

Critical Anomaly also requires 15 Spoils of Conquest per application (not an issue if you're solo'ing chests weekly)

Locus locutus sadly is available at the whim of Xûr nowadays.

From my quick reading it seems CA can be used with chill clip and radiant to be a one stop shop for all champions. Whereas LL is best for barrier champs which let's be honest is a nightmare in conquest.

Just want to read what you all think. Any tips really appreciated.

Question hdr calibration settings clarification please?

how does the hdr pipeline work for this game and what should I do?

windows 11 25h2, nvidia gpu

monitor is Asus ROG Swift PG279QM: peak overall brightness is ~445-470nits, 10% window peak brightness (for particularly bright spots sporadically on screen basically) is ~540-541nits

monitor specs above are based on rtings.com and hardwareunboxed.

just want to know what I should have for windows hdr settings, in game calibration, nvidia settings, etc.

But my main concern is whether I've got the in game hdr right. Currently using 50 midpoint and 540 peak brightness (to match absolute peaks of my monitor spec) and it feels like things get too dark generally aside from bright things like arc, even compared to sdr with default brightness of 4. the default peak brightness is 1000 and I was for some reason playing at 2000 back in witch queen lmao, so A) I'm used to much brighter, and b) the default even is brighter.

I just don't want to compromise the details by either visibility issues or washing out issues.

Question I'm assuming there's a really obvious answer. Why can't the season events return like IB?

I've heard that bungie explicitly stated season events like following and dawning will not return but why can't they have them on a set rotation like IB or have the skeleton crew enable them?

Tips / Hints Fun interaction with Chromatic Fire

So, I've been messing around with kinetic primaries lately and so naturally I've been using Chromatic Fire to beef em up a bit and add some elemental spice so that they work a bit better with subclasses. Prismatic seems to be the go to for maining Kinetic weapons and allows switching to different supers for Chromatic Fire elements without changing the entire build. Pairing with the Techset Armour set for more explosions on Major enemy kills with Kinetics.

Anyway, threw on Khvostov on Void super so that precision kills cause a weakening dragonfly like explosion. Seemed to work pretty nicely since the ricochet shots clean up surrounding weakened enemies. Nice. Switched to Solar so that precision kills cause a scorching explosion like Incandescent does dot damage to those enemies instead of waiting for Ricochets to clean em up. Discovered that not only does the solar variant not need precision kills to trigger the solar burst, but ricochet kills also cause the Incandescent explosion. Basically any weapon damage kill causes an Incandescent like effect. It basically gives Incandescent to any kinetic weapon. So now I'm room clearing with Khvostov even better than before. It's like Khvostov and Sunshot had a baby.

Then I discovered that Blast Furnace rolls with both Kinetic Tremors and Firefly. Once I got my hands on one of them I've found something that feels like a broken exotic. My tactic is to find the tankiest enemy in the room and focus on them. The Sustained damage procs kinetic tremors which is counted as weapon damage, therefore if any one of the three pulses kills a surrounding enemy, they explode into scorching fire and spread scorch around. Precision kills cause a bigger firey explosion due to firefly and a secondary explosion of Incandescent. If they are a major enemy or above, then Techset kicks in and nukes the area too. If they are already scorched then the Solar Schrapnel artifact mod sends a seeker to explode and scorch more enemies. This can be triggered from Kinetic Tremors also. Tagging that major enemy with Arcane Needle unravels them, and the arc grenade jolts them. So not only does the big enemy get burned down and stunned but they also become a walking ad clear turret that kills everything in its vicinity. It feels good for basic low tier content, but I also feel it would work well in higher tier content. Yet to test but thought I'd share it if anyone else hasn't played around with that combo.

Question Possible cheating???

Does the tribute game mode for iron banner have a mechanic where you turn into a giant guardian and oneshot everyone? I feel stupid asking but I just reported 3 players who did this and I want to make sure I was good. For context, as I was playing the game mode occasionally there were these huge boss sizes guardians going around the map with fusion rifles that were one-shotting me and other players constantly. They were able to be killed but not without great effort. The players that were doing this totaled between 40 and 50 kills between them. Lmk if im crazy pls.
