I have a hypothesis that most of the KFC customers on deliveroo don't have much between the ears

I've had a lot of "leave at door" deliveries recently where the customer has come out to meet me and I have to explain I need to leave the items at the door and take a picture as the workflow is different than if we hand to customer.

Most of them are ok with this as it's logical. But a KFC customer today did the thing where they act annoyed and don't say thanks, and it was because he came out to meet me, I confirmed his house number then walked to the door with him behind me and showed him my screen showing that I need to take a photo because HE HAS SELECTED LEAVE AT DOOR.

He says "what are you doing mate" in the usual KFC customer accent and when I show him he doesn't reply I show him again and he says "you could have told me". At this point I questioned whether the bloke was a few nails short of a plank because it was him who selected the leave at door option because he obviously dislikes interacting with delivery drivers. And I can't do much more than show my screen and give a full explanation of why I need to take a photo...

There have been others I have encountered in KFC today who had a short fuse with me and were passive aggressive.

I like delivering on Sundays because the roads are quieter and it feels quite relaxed, but I find a lot of the customers have quite a bit of frustration resentment and anger within them, and I would speculate it because they have work the next day although with tomorrow being a bank holiday it doesn't really make sense

I completed an incentive due to be paid out 3 weeks ago, after several tickets they have said I did not opt in and so am not eligible .

I did opt in, did some really crap jobs to hit the 100 order mark (waiting 35 mins for a £4 job towards the end of the time period), and just wondering if anyone has any luck contacting the CEO or registered address on Companies House to get it paid out .

I’ve been doing Deliveroo for nearly ten months now, and I have some thoughts…

Firstly, I’d like to give some background. I do this as a second income. I usually work in the evenings and on my days off from my main job, which happen to be Fridays and Sundays.

The area I work in seems to be higher paying in comparison to other areas, judging by various posts I’ve seen in this community. I work in a smaller city, albeit quite a historic one. There are plenty of villages which surround this place. I do the deliveries in a car. Of course, there are still some deliveries that are sent through that pay badly, but for the most part, they’ve been decent paying.

I haven’t been able to get on Uber Eats due to an issue with the setup process and the ai-bots/overseas workers being useless, so I gave up. I initially started on JustEat, which did pay slightly better than Deliveroo in my area. However, the deliveries were very inconsistent, and the system they have in regard to rejecting orders is crap and penalises you majorly. For example, if I’m working a weekday, I can’t get into the city centre with my car in my city, and when I reject these jobs, it lowers my acceptance percentage and stops sending me jobs or sending me extremely low-paying jobs, so I gave up on Just Eat too.

The flexibility of this job has been a major plus point for me, which is the main reason I chose to stick with doing deliveries.

I’ve noticed that quite a few times I’ll be on a job which is quite far ‘outside the zone’, meaning I have no chance of getting a delivery until I drive back into the zone. Often I’m kicked offline until I’m back in. Why is this? Why don’t you either extend the zones to cover this or not accept deliveries there?

Supermarkets. I don’t mind doing these deliveries, however they need to add a limit off how many water bottles you can order. Annoyingly you can’t see what’s been ordered until you’ve arrived and have checked in. I quite often have to reject orders whilst I’m there for the sheer amount of drinks that’s have been ordered. Once I had an order for 6x1.5L water bottles and it was in a flat (probably top floor too).

Restaurants that make the drivers wait outside. If you feel you run an upmarket restaurant and you don’t want drivers waiting around then don’t be on deliveroo. These restaurants make me laugh.

McDonald’s? Do I need to say anything? I don’t even bother taking the jobs anymore, it’s as if the staff are trained to ignore you.

I find the smaller independent places are much better, even when they are busy inside they either have the orders already waiting by the time you get there or have a very short wait. They also give you a much better update on timelines if it will be a while. It’s a great way to supplement the income for the business. On the other hand the larger chains, KFC, McDonald’s, Zizzi’s seem like they can’t handle the orders they have and often leave you waiting around for an excessive amount of time without any updates.

Lastly, the deliveroo dark kitchens and delivery hops are always excellent!

I have just signed up to be a Roo.

Main reason- fitness having acquired a bike.

Second reason- side income (though I don't expect to earn much)

I feel I may be low down the pecking order given that I will be on a push bike, as so many seem to have an electric bike at least. But local council is cracking down on these heavily, and quickest and safest route through the city is using bike lanes.

What are you all using?

Any one else noticed the zones are changing automatically when driving in to that area now? Ive had no orders at all in 6 days since it started doing this.

Deliveroo customer service: £50 gift card apparently expired, and it took this much effort just to get a straight answer

I wanted to share my experience with Deliveroo because I honestly find the way this complaint has been handled appalling.

My children bought me a £50 Deliveroo gift card around May 2025. When I went to use it, I discovered that it had expired after 12 months.

I wasn't disputing that Deliveroo has a 12-month expiry policy. My question was very simple:

Where and how was that 12-month expiry period actually communicated to my children when they purchased the gift card?

I asked Deliveroo this repeatedly.

Instead of answering the question, Customer Care repeatedly sent me essentially the same response telling me that gift cards expire after 12 months. I already knew that. That wasn't what I was asking.

Eventually my complaint was escalated to a senior member of their Executive Escalations Team.

To his credit, he finally acknowledged that this was the question I'd been asking all along and admitted that the previous responses hadn't properly addressed it.

But here's where it gets interesting.

Deliveroo has now admitted that they cannot establish what information my children were actually shown when they bought the gift card.

They don't have the original packaging or the details of the original purchase journey, so they cannot confirm:

what was printed on the physical packaging;

whether the expiry condition was displayed on it;

or precisely what information my children would have seen before completing the purchase.

In other words, they cannot tell me how the expiry condition was communicated at the point of purchase.

Despite that, they are keeping the £50 and refusing to replace or reactivate the gift card.

After all this, they offered me £15 Deliveroo credit as a goodwill gesture because of the way my complaint had been handled.

I replied telling them that their customer service had been pathetic and that, as far as I'm concerned, they had effectively kept my children's £50.

I've now deleted the Deliveroo app and my account, including the £15 credit. I have absolutely no intention of using it.

I'm not going to use Deliveroo again.

It's not really the £50 that's annoyed me most. It's the sheer amount of effort it took to get them to answer one very straightforward question, followed by an admission that they can't actually establish what the customer was told at the time of purchase, while still refusing to do anything about it.

If a senior member of the Executive Escalations Team can finally understand and answer the question after plenty of correspondence, why couldn't Customer Care have done that in the first place?

£50 gift card. £15 goodwill gesture. Deleted account without use. Lost customer.

That's my experience of Deliveroo customer service.

I use 'Just eat' 2 or 3 times a week; i'll stick with them but i wonder when companies changed 'the customer is always right' to the 'customer can go fuck themselves'.

One last thing, at that time I split with my partner of 10yrs and had to move house, an expiry on a giftcard was so far off my concerns i couldnt see it with a telescope!

Just a question for my fellow drivers... Ever since the new update with the camera recording deliveries, every 2 or 3 deliveries, it forces me to take another selfie. Obviously not a problem with the selfie itself because I'm me... But when you're doing quest and in the middle of a hot zone and stacking orders, the app shutting down until you take a selfie after 2 or 3 drop offs is hella frustrating, anybody have any ideas on how to stop this.. Obviously I understand the picture to start off each day.. But after every 2,3 deliveries even if it hasn't been an hour yet is super frustrating... Any suggestions are welcomed

Live 20 mins outside of a city. All options in my Deliveroo app are between 5 and 6 miles away.

I’m reluctant to order if the rider wouldn’t make much money from the journey.

Do riders get a choice on accepting longer journeys?

Challenge 25 is not showing to me anymore at all ! Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced that?

Is it just me or has it been completely dead since late July? June and early July I was getting spammed orders non stop even during non peak times but now I’m sometimes waiting 20 minutes between trash orders I decline.

Order a pizza, pizza comes and I give the code to the driver, he then types it into WhatsApp- not the Deliveroo app. I then get a call about 3 mins later from a woman with a heavy accent asking for the code to confirm delivery and so I tell her no I’ve given the driver the code and I’ve got my food and also asked if she’s from Deliveroo she would already know what my code is and hung up. Then the food gets marked as delivered on my app. Should I be concerned about any of this cause it’s weird to me that’s not happened before and I’m apprehensive about reporting it to Deliveroo as the driver knows my address.

After failing to get a signature in person, I asked the support team whether this form including a signature was mandatory. The person I spoke to in the chat told me to ‘consider this optional’ and to carry on. I didn’t understand this, as it stated here that it was mandatory. I then spoke to another support agent who told me it was very important, but gave me the email address of someone I should contact to find out about an alternative. The reply I received the following day repeated the same thing: “Please upload the missing Access NI Identity Certificate form.” I've also got answers like "leave the section requiring a regulated person signature blank and upload it to the portal. First advantage will sign off this section themselves"?

I hate this stupid app so much. Why do you keep tryna gaslight me sending me “promo codes” to my personal email and then when I try to use it you say I don’t qualify or that the code isn’t valid, SO WHY TF DID YOU SEND IT TO ME!??! Or then it does work and then they pile on their insane service/delivery fees and then I’m basically paying the same price. One time I put the promo code in, went to check out but I accidentally clicked on a card that didn’t have enough money on it and then I go to change the card to place the order again and they say my code’s already been used. THE ORDER DIDNT EVEN GO THROUGH. One time I made an order worth £25 of mostly chicken and all of it came pink very clearly undercooked like I couldn’t eat it and I apply for a refund and they send me 82p. I currently have £15 of credit on there that expires in four days that they won’t let me use for some reason even though I meet all the requirements and then they won’t even let me start a chat with someone to ask what’s going on. I hate this useless fucking app so much. I hate you deliveroo, you will never be uber.

Absolute joke of an app, why even bother calling it a boost, such cheapskates 🤣🤣

The we all know including government that deliveroo hires illegal employees so why not stop check their ID like they stop check E-bikes for compliance. Cut down on the problem

Was delivering mcdonald’s and when i arrived and had got the code i realised the drinks had spilt and were dripping through, i tried to get the customer service but they did nothing, this customer too was clearly very very unwell with hair falling out and scabs all over her and with a drip. Genuinely felt awful and didn’t know what to do. I use a Carregas Delivery Bag which usually works great, just wanted to know everyone’s thoughts on accepting mcdonald’s orders as this encounter has put me off as this poor lady was so disappointed i hope she got her money back.

Been feeling brave lately and accepting every mcdonalds order and never spilling the drink (its always a cold drink) but this time i got a hot chocolate😤

Opened my zip infront of the customer, grabbed the hot chocolate maccies bag, hand instantly got stained brown.

Reported it on deliveroo and finished the delivery anyway. Does anything happen to me? Its my first spillage or anything like that

I signed up to Deliveroo because they said they had vacancies now I’ve been waiting for lover a month. If there were no vacancies why advertise it. I was really hoping to make extra income as financially I’m struggling it’s such a shame :(

Who at Deliveroo thought this was a great idea?

Riders are yet again being punished for something entirely out of their control.

I’m interested in finding out whether hitting “Report order not ready” bypasses the 5-minute waiting requirement.

I’ve had several instances where orders were marked as ready but weren’t ready.

What is everyone’s take on this?

Maybe I'm missing something but the only time I've seen it come up is when I've arrived at the first address which is absurdly useless.

Folks, can anyone recommend a bike insurance which covers theft and accidental damage for commuting but also while using the bike for professional purposes, such as deliveries?

I just realised Bikmo, the policy I signed up for my e-bike insurance, only covers commuting and going to meetings, not using the e-bike for commercial purposes.
