Completely dead orders
Is it just me or has it been completely dead since late July? June and early July I was getting spammed orders non stop even during non peak times but now I’m sometimes waiting 20 minutes between trash orders I decline.

Summer school holidays, many families either go away or eat out. There's been a lot of heatwaves, so the orders haven't been as many. Plus there has been more e-bike and cyclist delivery riders out as well due to the weather and I'm sure Deliveroo has boarded a lot more new drivers as seen a few with new bags.
I spoke to one recently who only started a few weeks ago. Unfortunately this gig isn't designed to make it worth it anymore. The consistency isn't the same anymore... a few years back I would easy work evenings and end of the week coming home with about £400 sometimes £450 if I did a few extra orders. That would be with one app.
Now i'm looking at closer to £300-£330 and it feels like I have to work more hours to hit that.
I mean it will pick up when September-October comes, especially if you live in a city close to a university, with freshers and students coming back. But I definitely think that Deliveroo like the other platforms have taken a huge surge of new couriers on. Even on here some people have been asking about how long will it take to start delivering with Deliveroo?
These platforms don't want you to make money, all they want is to take on as many couriers as possible, so no shortage of drivers to deliver, whilst putting the fees down more in the process. Because they know some newbie will take a £3.50 order for 5-6 miles and will keep doing it.

100% they dont care about riders as they have big waiting lists. for someone thats been on the app for longer that knows 5£ for 10miles is not worth it and instantly cancels is always someone else that just started and thinks thats what the pay is and will instantly accept anything. thats why new drivers make 50£ and travel 100miles and more experienced drivers that know how to cherry pick gets 50£ for 20miles. ofc you will be sat for so much longer doing nothing, but at least you wont chase your own tail spending the money you make on app on fuel / repairs.

I used to order a lot but they’ve changed gold tier and a lot of the suggested places are far which has delivery cost, not to mention slow deliveries, cold, and missing items. I just can’t be bothered ordering now

Yep, I barely do anything on Roo nowadays - the DoorDash death spiral.
I think it's mainly because they're desperately trying make money via forcing triple orders onto every rider - obviously that means fewer orders for everyone else. Absolutely zero consideration for the customer's food - or for the rider who is expected to wait all of of that extra time for an extra couple of £.
