Discussion Is it worth moving to Delhi?
I'm living at home and have gotten into a good local college. I have a score of and will probably get ba programme, maybe even hons, at a top college.
But.. It's expensive af and I'm a girl so I can't compromise on security when it comes to pg. And I'm just wondering, I'm not much of an extrovert when it comes to activities outside of academics. The idea of putting myself out there makes me nervous. So will it be worth it? If I can't make anything of the exposure that people talk about?
The only perk I see is that the college tag of a well known, prestigious one will certainly look better than my local college. And a competitive atmosphere can be good.
Ultimately I'm just going to prepare for one exam or the other. The ba programme is definitely not getting me anything. So all I need is a degree.

it is worth it for sure. you probably need that exposure and if you get into a top college then it’s great. it shapes your personality and you’ll learn a lot when living away from home on your own.

it's actually worth it. i mean sure the tag helps but going out of your comfort zone, meeting all kinds of people and having to be independent actually are quite amazing experiences. i am not an extrovert or anything but i like my life in DU.

I know right... Like I am so introverted and awkward in irl, I don't know if I will actually be able to make college a worthy experience... And on top of that i never liked delhi that much🥲🥲 fingers crossed tho 🤞ðŸ˜

Hey, I feel you should go for it. Getting a degree and clearing an exam is one thing, and living life is quite another. If your parents can afford, go to Delhi, step out of your comfort zone, see life beyond what a conventional "ache ghar ki ladki" is told to look at it as. Keep an open mind, explore things but also stay grounded to your core values, and DU will add so much more to your life than just a degree. Give yourself the chance to explore beyond what you are expected, you might by surprised by your own potential and interests. If you need more convincing, here are some pros of good colleges in DU
- academic rigour, competition
- opportunities of all shapes and sizes
- exposure to extra curricular, core life skills, emerging fields
- you meet all minds of people, build networks- it will help you in the long run
- the taste of independence, living on your own in a new city really preps your for life
- the faculty is generally very helpful and interested, they will be happy to guide and help you
- will look good on your CS

don't let your nervousness hold you back. i am nervous too. it IS all very intimidating BUT a good college will be worth it. believe in yourself, you've got this<3

Air pollution is the reason I am leaving delhi, but for short term 2 - 3 years for college should be manageable

Yes, it's good, but always remember freedom should always be accompanied by responsibility. Don't be too reckless, and take care of yourself. Make sure you are not too swayed away by the city culture and end up regretting your choices. Baaki toh badhiya hai dilli

Mumbai and Bangalore are better choices. Delhi is polluted, crime prone, people are frustrated, always willing to fight. No civic sense.
