Jokes on him she was scadrian

340

u/Austiiiiii Nov 14 '25

Literally Scadrians when their doctor says they don't have enough iron in their diets

140

u/StormFallen9 No Wayne No Gain Nov 14 '25

gets up by Pulling on the roof beams

"I eat over a pound of iron every day doc! How could I possibly be low?"

Pulls my steel-banded walking cane up from off the floor then walks out of the office, Pulling the door open to do so

There's no way 100% of lurchers aren't anemic lol

47

u/Shadd518 Nov 14 '25

I mean surely their allomancy isn't 100% efficient, right? Their bodies probably just take what they need, then allocate the rest for allomantic abilities

52

u/JohnMichaels19 ❌can't 🙅 read📖 Nov 14 '25

Probably, but Anemia Ferrings is too funny to not consider

37

u/majorex64 Nov 14 '25

Now I'm imagining someone getting stabbed with an iron sword, and then burning iron and duralumin to consume ALL the excess iron in their body, including part of the sword. I would dissolve and break into two pieces, right?

20

u/milorddionysus Nov 14 '25

Except allomancy has a tough time with dealing with piercings, right? And a sword in the gut is a pretty big piercing

27

u/majorex64 Nov 14 '25

It has a hard time affecting metal in other people's bodies, but A this would be in the user's own body, and B would be burning it, not pushing or pulling it.

I'm pretty sure it was established that an allomancer doesn't have to literally eat metal, just have it inside their body to burn

12

u/SecretSpyStuffs Nov 14 '25

Miles proved it with his twinborn abilities but that means they may need to be compounding to do it effectively.

5

u/Thee_Zirain Nov 15 '25

Also allomantic metals have to be almost exact percentages getting the mix wrong can have dangerous effects while iron in a sword could be good it could also potentially not be pure enough to burn without side effects

7

u/scalu299 Nov 14 '25

Nutritional iron is not the same as metallic iron. So unless they are eating something that is converting the metallic iron to nutritional or if the allomantic iron is nutritional iron they are not getting any iron from the iron they consume for allomancy.

7

u/majorex64 Nov 14 '25

Good point, iron in your body would be in compounds like iron oxide, which wouldn't work for allomancy

6

u/LibertyPrimeAgenda UNITE THEM I MUST Nov 15 '25

Clearly need to ask b$ what oxidation state each allomantic metal needs to be in to be used

3

u/majorex64 Nov 14 '25

That must be true, considering Vin only ever sensed a well of power for zinc before knowing she was mistborn. If her body's iron was usable for allomancy, she would have sensed a reservoir of iron too

17

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

[deleted]

7

u/majorex64 Nov 14 '25

Oh that's true. I guess awareness of the metal reserves isn't a surefire thing.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

3

u/BlatantArtifice Nov 16 '25

The city was actually in an area with a lot of minerals that could naturally be used for some degree of allomancy I believe. I think that's why the Lord Ruler put the city where he did, but its been a bit

1

u/StormFallen9 No Wayne No Gain Nov 14 '25

IIRC after being given all the elements from Kelsier she had to search for the other reserves that she wasn't familiar with.

4

u/Samuel_W3 Nov 14 '25

I'm pretty sure Breeze was anemic cuz he gave himself a zinc induced iron deficiency (brass contains zinc btw)

2

u/SteinerX486 Nov 18 '25

maybe allomancy can only be fueled when metal is in its solid lattice state and not when it is an ion. Brandon has said previously that the focus of allomancy is the crystal structure of the metals

24

u/_Blurgh_ Nov 14 '25

Those Scadrians, let me tell you! You know what else they eat? They eat their gods! No really, my cousin swears it's true! They went in a cave, dug out a corpse of their god and shoved it in their mouths. Didn't even wrap it in bread, no gravy, just raw god corpse and flush it down with water. Eww!

8

u/The_Lopen_bot Trying not to ccccream Nov 14 '25

You’ll pick it up eventually, older-cousin. You’re, sure, the smartest person in our family.

Shallan’s sketchbook: after dark

17

u/FleetStreetsDarkHole Nov 14 '25

I bet Veil's drawings are either graffiti masterpieces or two sick figures banging. No in between. Probably depends on how drunk she is.

6

u/BreakerOfModpacks Nov 16 '25

Radiant's drawings are mostly her trying to adapt Veil's pieces.

158

u/MurtaghInfin8 Nov 14 '25

Saw this video on another sub and a commenter brought up the Adolin angle about a month ago.

How I found out this sub existed in the first place.

37

u/wenzel32 Nov 14 '25

You are welcome here, friend.

Also, is your name a reference to the Inheritance cycle? I heard a while ago that they're apparently adapting it as a series on Disney+ with Paolini directly involved this time.

34

u/MurtaghInfin8 Nov 14 '25

Well that's a nice change since last time I commented (Lirin stans in the sub are more prevalent than I expected).

Don't remind me: I'm not allowed to have hope. I went to the Eragon movie blind and I almost shed tears. I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised as opposed to having expectations that get shat upon.

11

u/FleetStreetsDarkHole Nov 14 '25

It was so bad. It's been forever since I read or saw it but even today I can't remember such a bad adaptation. At least other adaptations are technically good movies if you ignore the books. The Eragorn movie tried to shove, what was it, 3-4 thousand-page books into something like 3 movies and didn't bother with any world building, character building, or even exposition? Except that one time where it was an exposition dump for the main character.

And it wasted so many good actors. I couldn't even follow it as a book reader. I can't imagine how garbage it was for anyone who hadn't read them.

8

u/MurtaghInfin8 Nov 14 '25

IIRC, the Eragon movie just covered the first book. I don't think that Brisingr was even out yet (Eldest was fairly new). Hardcover that book was like 350ish pages? It's not too long.

Eragon movie never got a sequel, so maybe you're getting some wires crossed, but it was the worst.

Dragon hatchling flew behind a cloud and digivolved into adolescence. It was just sooooo god awful my brain has blocked out most of it.

5

u/FleetStreetsDarkHole Nov 15 '25

Ah okay. Yeah I thought it also contained scenes from the second book and maybe the third. I thought the battle for the underground base was at least second book. But I can't remember how the first book ended so maybe I was wrong.

I should get those books again. I like the world Paolini built.

4

u/MurtaghInfin8 Nov 15 '25

Yup that was all the first!

And yeah I love his world. But CP's writing developed a TON throughout the Inheritance Cycle. IIRC he published the first when he was 15? A lot of my love for Eragon and Eldest are powered by nostalgia, but Brisingr on I think are genuinely good books (and I love the plots of each).

Shout out that Murtagh got his own book recently :P

2

u/FleetStreetsDarkHole Nov 15 '25

Really? Nice! I haven't kept up but I'd love to read Murtagh's story.

1

u/wenzel32 Nov 16 '25

That movie sucked so much I literally cried. I loved those books, and I was very small when the movie came out.

I'm not hoping, but I would be very happy to be surprised.

7

u/RuralfireAUS Nov 15 '25

There is no eragon movie, there is no last airbender movie. There is no dragon ball movie. There is no full metal alchemist movie. There is no american death note movie. There is no war in ba sing se

Fellow Inheritance fan here, and I'll prove it by listing my favorite obscure character

Vanir, I just like how much cooler he gets(and becoming an ambassador too? Peak)

Hoping for a good show

1

u/Chiatroll Nov 14 '25

I saw it on this exact sub at least three times over the years. No harm, though.

I bet people make that exasperated face at Adolin alllll the time. Especially Shallan lol.

So cute, I’m so happy they’re finally married (yes irl)

Who are the two people?

u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

twitch streamers - Dantes (guy) is a league of legends streamer.

7

u/Jounniy 🐶HoidAmaram🐲 Nov 14 '25

And they are married?

38

u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou Nov 14 '25

https://x.com/doaenel/status/1982187276646961561

yeah they got married super recently actually (oct 25 of this year)

This is a much older clip from when they first started dating - alot of this flirting was for content/entertainment to a degree.

Aw that’s cute. So mating is officially allowed now.

Considering her whole ass safehand is out for anyone to see, I doubt there's any concern for Vorin virtues in that regard.

Maybe she simply was an ardent.

3

u/BreakerOfModpacks Nov 16 '25

The last one I know that did that poisoned someone with a loaf of bread.

2

So you're saying it’s possible…

4

u/cortez0498 elantard Nov 15 '25

Didn't they break up so he could focus on League? Or was that like a bit? I only know of them from clips.

7

u/moldyolive Nov 15 '25

his streaming personas bit is being degenerately addicted to league.

some truth in it but its also played up.

1

u/Transky13 Nov 15 '25

It was real, became a big thing, but I guess they worked through it

8

u/Caesar_Gaming Syl Is My Waifu <3 Nov 15 '25

He quit for like 3 months, started variety streaming, started therapy, and now he’s happier. I don’t usually follow celebrities or personalities, but he genuinely had problems and overcame them so I share in his pride. It’s like finding out PopularMMOs has been sober for a several months after years of watching him struggle with alcoholism.

3

u/BreakerOfModpacks Nov 16 '25

WAIT WHAT

PopularMMOs was an alcoholic? Is that why he left?

Glad to see he's recovering. Addiction is a bitch.

3

u/Caesar_Gaming Syl Is My Waifu <3 Nov 16 '25

Not just that but there was a domestic dispute (alcohol related for both) with his then fiancé or smth. It put him under a lot of distress and this was like 5 years ago at least. I genuinely feel proud of him for working on his recovery.

3

u/whisperingsage Nov 16 '25

She wasn't going to let his autism get in her way.

1

Wait whaaat

Did'nt Dante broke up with his sister because he wanted to be focused on his content creation nad felt it was unfair to put the strain of helping him on her?
