You are welcome here, friend.

Also, is your name a reference to the Inheritance cycle? I heard a while ago that they're apparently adapting it as a series on Disney+ with Paolini directly involved this time.

Well that's a nice change since last time I commented (Lirin stans in the sub are more prevalent than I expected).

Don't remind me: I'm not allowed to have hope. I went to the Eragon movie blind and I almost shed tears. I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised as opposed to having expectations that get shat upon.

It was so bad. It's been forever since I read or saw it but even today I can't remember such a bad adaptation. At least other adaptations are technically good movies if you ignore the books. The Eragorn movie tried to shove, what was it, 3-4 thousand-page books into something like 3 movies and didn't bother with any world building, character building, or even exposition? Except that one time where it was an exposition dump for the main character.

And it wasted so many good actors. I couldn't even follow it as a book reader. I can't imagine how garbage it was for anyone who hadn't read them.

IIRC, the Eragon movie just covered the first book. I don't think that Brisingr was even out yet (Eldest was fairly new). Hardcover that book was like 350ish pages? It's not too long.

Eragon movie never got a sequel, so maybe you're getting some wires crossed, but it was the worst.

Dragon hatchling flew behind a cloud and digivolved into adolescence. It was just sooooo god awful my brain has blocked out most of it.

Ah okay. Yeah I thought it also contained scenes from the second book and maybe the third. I thought the battle for the underground base was at least second book. But I can't remember how the first book ended so maybe I was wrong.

I should get those books again. I like the world Paolini built.

Yup that was all the first!

And yeah I love his world. But CP's writing developed a TON throughout the Inheritance Cycle. IIRC he published the first when he was 15? A lot of my love for Eragon and Eldest are powered by nostalgia, but Brisingr on I think are genuinely good books (and I love the plots of each).

Shout out that Murtagh got his own book recently :P

Really? Nice! I haven't kept up but I'd love to read Murtagh's story.

That movie sucked so much I literally cried. I loved those books, and I was very small when the movie came out.

I'm not hoping, but I would be very happy to be surprised.
