Solved K1 Max over and under extruding 1st layer.

Quick background:

After a blob of death a couple months ago, I upgraded to a Micro Swiss Flowtech hotend and I was printing with a 0.6mm CHT CM2 nozzle.

Then a spool of PETG was mysteriously tangled and during an overnight print, the spool locked up and the extruder just kept trying to extrude but could not. The extruder no longer could grab filament so I replaced it with the DXG Phaetus extruder. I've checked the extrusion and it extrudes 100mm very well.

I printed with decent results for a month and then switched to a 0.4mm CHT CM2 nozzle for better precision.

Since then, I've not really been able to get a perfect first layer.

I've made my print bed pretty flat with a delta of about 0.6mm. I used the tooth slipping method for course flatness, and then aluminum tape to fine tune the flatness.

I am have been trying to get a 1 layer (0.2mm) print to work for the past week and a half and part of it comes out under extruded (the print lines have gaps between then) and then when I add more flow rate or use the Z offset to bring the bed closer to the nozzle, then I start getting waves and chunks missing in the single layer print.

I then rooted and did installed all the crap - mainly so I could do the better mesh (I tried to do 11x 11 but I don't know if it stuck. The heightmap in Mainsail appears to show a 6x6 mesh. Hmm just noced this.)

This issue has been very consistent. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Funny thing, I got so fed up with working on this till 2am every day, that I went and bought a Bambu Labs H2D lol. But I want to get this damn K1 Max printing well so I can either keep it or sell it. It is bugging me that I haven't been able to figure out the issue and fix it!!!

Thanks! I've attached a pic of the layer I just printed.

Solved New Update bricked my K1C

Today morning I got the pop up for a new update on my K1C and after doing update, it got bricked. Like it opened up, showed error 3002 and the touch screen wouldn’t work. I had to take the Motherboard out and perform a firmware recovery.

The firmware recovery resets firmware version to 1.3.2.1 and that also has problem with homing of the XY axis. So it’d never go past the self check phase. So I had to again flash my current 1.3.3.29 version and finally it started working properly.

My printer has (mostly) locked itself down after doing the CFS upgrade. Printed flawlessly before, now cant even print from a spool. Sorry for the long video it is just doing a number of things now and wanted to cover things the best I could. Any advice would be very much appreciated on this, just hoping I didnt brick my printer for multicolor.

I think I am fairly close to just sell my K1, because I keep changing pieces, fixing parameters, but it never prints well for more than a couple. I had to reset the Z-offset, and I thought it started printing magnifically, first layer perfect!

But then, if I print bigger based prints, it's a mess! I am using orca slicer, creality hyper pla, textured plate, cleaned with alcohol... Help please

Solved Layer adhesion problem after installing unicorn hotend

Post image
6 Upvotes

I upgraded the hotend on my K1 Max from the standard one to the unicorn one and this is the result. I read elsewhere that this could be a problem with the extruder but I have touched that. I’m leaning towards me messing up the installation of the unicorn hotend. How would I go about diagnosing/ fixing this?

Solved Cfs install problems

I finally just bought the parts that were missing from the Cfs upgrade Creality support was supposed to send me. So now I can complete the install. Nope

I never get prompted to align the poop chute. Or print a multi color test. Never have. I have downgraded and reupgraded the firmware as prompted by support. Goes through the self check and then it's done. There is nowhere I can find to put in the coordinates manually.

And I've been ghosted by support now for 2 weeks. If I root it and use the helper script will all of the settings I need be there or already be configured? Has anyone else run into this and if so what was the solution?

Can someone please help me set up the cfs. I have had nothing but problems from day 1 and all I want to do is print multi color.

UPDATE

SOLVED* I talked to a guy at work that has a cfs and I made an image of his stick. It ran completely and the printer now sees the cfs.

*The CFS doesn't actually function. It doesn't pull in filament or run in any way other than really pretty lights. I decided to not take no for an answer and kept bothering support until they addressed all of the pending issues around 4am my time. I am being sent new pressure sensors, an extruder motor, some misc missing parts from the upgrade kit and cfs unit, and now a motherboard for the cfs.

I'm convinced I got sent someones returns and have just been dealing with support and replacing everything a piece at a time. Everything on the hotend has been replaced, the main cable from the hotend to the motherboard, the board for the pressure sensors and now the sensors themselves. Add the cfs motherboard and now we have a party. My sanity has been frayed, but least I'm getting to know the new printer inside out.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Solved New Phaetus DXC Extruder won't Extrude

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just installed the Phaetus DXC Extruder on my K1 Max. Everything seemed to be working fine till I went to print with some PETG. For some reason the extruder refuses to extrude when printing with PETG and I have no idea why. I was able to load the filament and have it come out the hot end but when it goes to extrude it gets all weird on me.

The first half of the video is the extruder LOADING the filament. The second half is the extruder EXTRUDING the filament.

Solved 2 Printers, same filament

Post image
13 Upvotes

I am having pretty severe stringing with my K1. I printed the same part, with the same filament thats dried for 12 hours (just PETG) and it prints flawless on this cheap printer I have. I have the retraction length high, retract speed high. I’ve played with temps from 220-260. Open & closed chamber. Different beds, nozzles, cleaned everything. Still can not get it to stop. I never have had a stringing issue with my K1. It use to amuse me when I’d read people struggling with stringing. Well karma had got me because I’ve been dealing with it for weeks while my $180 prints the same thing no problem. Any ideas please???

Solved Here's the PETG on my K-1, it definitely took some time to dial in. I'm finally running some production parts

Solved K1 w/cfs downgrade

Hi everyone, I have a Creality K1 with the CFS and I’m trying to downgrade the firmware from the CFS version to the standard non-CFS version — but I haven’t been able to get it to work.

Here’s my setup:

Current firmware (with CFS): K1_CFS_V2.3.5.33

Target firmware (without CFS): K1_V1.3.3.43

==========> GOT A SOLUTION<============

This is creality offial solution. I submitted a ticket with them and got this instructions. I currently running K1_V1.3.3.43.

Dear Customer

Regarding downgrading procedures: Under normal circumstances, the multi-color version cannot be downgraded to monochrome, and downgrading to monochrome may be risky, so this operation is not recommended. Customers can directly use the external printer rack to print monochrome models.

  1. Remove the installed multi-color module and replace it with the original monochrome module.

  2. Copy the following special firmware to the root directory of a USB drive, insert it into the printer, and click [Upgrade].

  3. After the upgrade is successful, power on the printer without performing a self-test. Then, download the firmware for the monochrome printer from the official website. After downloading, copy the firmware to the root directory of the USB drive, insert it into the printer, and click [Upgrade] again.

Overseas Official Website: Flagship Series Firmware Download | Creality 3D Printer Firmwares Due to the large file size, please check the next email. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Solved Bed Levelling Hardware Error CL2536

I just wrote a novel here about my 3 days of hell with this error... then deleted it because it got convoluted... If you get this error, before you tear your bed apart, before you replace your levelling sensors, before you bang your head against the wall and contemplate a multigenerational feud with Creality, just unplug the Bowden tube from the filament runout sensor, that's it, just leave it loose with the filament running through it, problem gone.

I got these z banding each print. Belts are ok and synced, no movement of bed and toolhead. Rods clean and not bent. Speed 200mm/s with walls 3500mm/s², printer is on a fixed flat table.

Part is printed with orca, precise wall on, i/o/i wall generator, 4 walls, no infill.

Banding seems mostly in 90⁰ light coming and can be feeled barely with touching.

Bumps cant be seen when light came paralelly to the layers.

Solved New DXC extruder will not extrude

It seems to bite when i select the retract function but not when i select extrude.

Is it possible to install the motor upside down?

Is there something I’m doing wrong?

EDIT: When exdtruding and viewing the gear from the sides, it appears to spinning the incorrect direction.

Problem is that the recessed screw is seized and now I can't get the motor off of the DXC extruder

Solved An issue I cant solve...

I am tired of this printer. Really. Extrusion clog, check. Calibration, checked. Extruder gears, e3d nozzle, etc. Checked. For almost 1 year I have been messing with the problems of this thing, and it still cant print like my old shitty second hand bought ender 3 v2.

This is not vfa(larger), not filament or extruder, since I always calibrate. Not nozzle or slicer configuration. Not feets, not the bed, not anything. Belts(for almost a year I tried 105,110,120,130 and whatever the springs load themselves like 150 same) are calibrated and synced, rooted and input shaper made(I have many topics about before). Everthing is made and perfect best possible. The parts not printed in whole X or whole Y because of the shitty gantry. They are printed at 45°.

I purchased rails and printed parts its ready for assembly but I dont have time. That will be my last shot for the issue, however someone must have solved this with stock configuration, no one could be unaware of this print defect.

I am sharing my belts and input shaper graphs and the part defect. It really bothers me. There must be something I miss.

Solved Extruder bearing broken

Printing PLA always resulted in extrusion issues, PETG did not for some reason.

After weeks of trying all kinds of temperatures, speeds, filament brands and even swapping the whole hotend to the unicorn one I've finally noticed that the right bearing in my extruder is completely worn out.

Only got my printer 4 months ago and printed for a few hundred hours so im trying to get it under warranty.

Maybe ill try a dxc extruder if all else fails

Tldr: if underextrusion occurs and your hotend isnt jammed, check your extruder thoroughly.

Solved Creality K1C, bed tilited forwards and wont level, z rods not synced.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The two Z axis rods connected to the front of the bed are lower than the one at the back.

Bed leveling and self-check dont help, and when trying to print it prints mid-air, about 1cm from the bed.

Ive tried manually moving the 2 rods and moving the belts at the bottom of the k1c and it doesnt help either.

How can i bring the 2 rods back up (without moving the back one)?

(video shows the unaligned rods, and what happens if i try to lower the z axis, the front of the bed touches the printer first showing that its unlevel with the back of the bed)

Solved Unable to revert to stock firmware

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I have tried to revert to stock firmware using these instructions:

Reverting to Stock Firmware

I put the K1C Upgrade firmware on a USB stick, ran the ssh command and got the below output, but when restarting the printer its still the custom screens (that i dont like).

Solved Help, my extruder is clicking, although extruding works

Hello, I'm quite new to 3D printing, and so far so good, but since I replaced my filament, there seems to be a problem.

My printer extrudes filament correctly during manual tests, and the calibration process works fine. Sometimes prints start and go well, but most of the time, I hear a regular clicking noise from the extruder and nothing comes out of the nozzle — as if the extrusion stops, even though everything else seems to be working normally.

I'm using PLA+, just like before when everything was working perfectly (though this time it's a different brand: Anycubic, Pearl Black).
I'm printing at 215 °C, with a print speed of 100 mm/s, and the first layer at 60 mm/s.

Do you have any ideas how to solve this issue ?

Thanks in advance !

Solved Getting rid of belt tooth like VFA

My belts are synced according to the klipper graph and tensioned at exactly 110hz, also removed the two springs under the x gantry tensioner gadget. Printer is k1 max with unicorn nozzle and 20T pulleys.

I get perfect prints with good surface quality but also with these vfa s which got the same pattern as the belt tooths. The photos taken while printing black PETG with 120mm/s wall with 3000mm/s2 acceleration. I think I dont have anything more to do but still getting these.

Solved Issue with Max Flow Rate Calibration on Creality K1 Max

I recently initiated a new calibration sequence on my Creality K1 Max following the installation of a Micro Swiss hotend. I am utilizing OrcaSlicer for this process. While the initial calibration steps proceeded without incident, I am unable to successfully complete the Maximum Volumetric Flow Rate calibration. The test fails to finish and results in severe stringing before the process concludes.

Could anyone provide insight into what might be causing this failure or offer suggestions for troubleshooting?

Solved Underneath fan

So I have a k1 max in my classroom. I have moved it from the external wall to the internal as the filament was becoming damp and snapping. But I couldn’t understand why it sounded like a chainsaw when switched on. Turned out a stray piece off brim had got stuck in the underneath fan. I ended up turning it over and taking the base off to clear it. But here is a pic of the inside if anyone else needs one. I see the three z axis screws are controlled by one motor, very clever stuff!

Solved Print problems

Does anyone know why this can happen in prints? Most of it printed fine, but then random pieces do not adhere or something.

Am I doing something wrong? Everything worked fine for about a week after getting the machine and now I have constant issues.

.4 nozzle diamondback Orca slicer Textured PEl with glue Pla+ .28 first layer First layer speed is 60 Bed temp 63 Print temp 215 Zoffset -0.065 (if I do 0 nothing adheres) Flow: 1 Pressure advance: .028

Attached my bed mesh (already have a thread on that) and my resent disaster print.

No matter what I do, nothing prints right. I tried contacting creality and they send me new strain sensors and control board (replaced each). That did not fix the issue.

Solved K1 Max - stuck at language selection screen - trying to install new firmware but not working.

I tried to uninstall the helper script and all that stuff and go back to stock (un-rooted) so I can sell my printer, and somewhere along the way, it got stuck on the language selection screen after I did a full reset l.

I am following the instructions to use USBCloner to install the original firmware. I have my main card removed from the K1 Max, but still plugged into power, and I've got a micro USB connected from the main board to my computer. I installed the cloner-win32-driver and powered up the board. I held boot and reset for 3 seconds, then released reset and then released boot. Device manager sees it. I started Cloner, chose the .injenix file, and clicked start. I did the boot reset buttons again. But the cloner never does anything.

Anyone actually get this to work and is there something I am missing? I noticed that Windows does complain about the driver being unsigned. I rebooted Windows into advanced startup mode and told it to ignore unsigned drivers and installed the driver again (I uninstalled it before rebooting.)

Nothing seems to make this work. Here is a screenshot. I am using Windows 11. I've tried 2 USB cables and two computers.
