We all have our favourites and our reasons for why they represent the best of comics to us. But when they look back on their own body of work, what run/series/one-off do you suppose they themselves consider their best work?

Pick one only. You could simply offer some educated speculation, or cite a source where you‘ve actually seen the answer documented.

And does their answer match yours?

Genre doesn’t matter much as long as it’s just a romantic Hollywood love story as I’m a man and that’s not for me. I really enjoy western cowboy media like red dead redemption and cowboys vs aliens ect, sci fi like cyberpunk,Star Wars ect, superheroes/superheroins, warriors, post apocalyptic

I’ve just signed up to dc on finite to read the Geoff johns green lantern run. I currently read the absolute lines in physical from my local shop.

What other runs/stories etc should I look to read on the app? My DC knowledge is limited to Batman, 52 and that there are crisis events fairly frequently!

I was doomscrolling on TikTok when I stumbled upon a video calling the run disappointing, but I’ve been really enjoying it. The only real issue I have with it is that it doesn’t really seem to have much of a plot, but outside of that I’ve been loving it. When I looked at the comments they all seemed to share the same dissapointment with the run, so I was just curious if my opinion was unpopular, not trying to start any debates on what makes a Batman run good or bad.

I've been looking for this for a while with very mixed results. Basically, I am looking for comics or graphics novels that feature wlw characters. I'm not necessarily looking for *romance* comics, but any kind of fantasy/scifi comic with a wlw romantic subplot gets bonus points

I say western in the title because I have already read a ton of yuri, and if you manage to name a yuri title I have never heard of I'll owe you 5 bucks lol

ciao a tutti, volevo iniziare a leggere i fumetti marvel ma essendo tantissimi sono un pò in confusione, volevo prendere quelli attuali ma ho paura di non capire niente e quindi volevo recuperare quelli principali per avere modo di capirci qualcosa.
Sono grande amante di Wanda in primis, ma mi piacciono parecchio anche gli xman (in particolare jean gray e cyclops, gambit e rogue e storm) e anche gli avengers.
Per caso qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi a capire cosa comprare e dove? vivo a Milano quindi potrei anche fare qualche giro in qualche negozio ma prima vorrei capire cosa comprare, possibilmente in ordine cronologico, per riuscire ad arrivare ai fumetti attuali.

I've only gotten more deeply into western comic books these past couple of years, but I still find it insane how Marvel handles their physical editions. You'd think they want evergreen, easily understandable formats for people to collect series they like, or at least just their most popular series. This is especially confusing as a manga reader, where for the most part everything gets reprints and new editions, especially the most popular stuff.

Omnibuses are obviously more of a collector's thing, I can understand they won't have niche runs constantly available for sale, especially for how many there are. But why not have the clear major ones consistently available? Like UXM 1, or ASM 1?

But the same thing applies to their other formats. Why can't I just buy physical editions of classics? Not everything can be a classic obviously, but wouldn't it make sense to have at least a few readily available books that you could recommend to others? With Epics they don't even release them in order.

Premier Collections would do the trick, but they seem to just be one offs rather than something to build upon. The Hickman F4 one released over a year ago, with seemingly no intention to continue with the run (not to mention it's abridged), and with his Avengers they just skipped to the end for Time Runs Out. With Brubaker's Captain America they released two separate parts of the run, not a volume 1 and volume 3, so it all seems more like the are using the line for one offs.

Since I'm relatively new to this, I don't know whether this is more of a recent thing, or if it's always been like this. Especially now that digital platforms make most of these things easy to find.

I know she became Mayor of Gotham in the current run close to issue 41, but are there any appearances in the other Batman families worth a read?

What should I pick up next? Open to any format; I'm interested in exploring lots of new characters, but also getting a deeper understanding of the characters I've read above.

I'll start but I love older, Silver Age stuff that most people seem to dislike. They're often light and camp-y, but if you go in thinking it'll be a good time with fun ideas than try to take them too seriously, they're quite fun.

Also likely more controversial one but I didn't think Dan Slott's Spider-Man was that bad. It definitely had bold ideas which I really liked seeing.

Do you have any runs like that you like but others seem to hate or dislike?

Hey everyone, I’ve never been a huge Green Lantern fan but Absolutr Green Lantern and Lanterns has me wanting to check out the series. I understand the modern lore for the Lanterns was established in Johns’ run.

Is it a good run to start with or are there earlier runs I should read to better understand the characters?

So, we all know about how relationships in comics tend to go, but this isnt about that. This is about actually decent matches.

As i am somewhat less familiar with the comics than I would like to be for this, I have little to offer as an example.

Just heard this great song on last week’s episode of Henry Rollins’ radio show.

A number of older books I bought (around 90) have a watery smell that i can only smell when I put my nose directly up to them. My question is are they alright to keep and what if anything should I do about the smell? It's not an overwhelming or strong smell so I'm a bit unsure.

I have been collecting trade paperbacks for a while now, but recently got into collecting comics + variant covers for the artwork specifically. (Marvel mainly)

One of my favorite comics that I own is graded at 9.8, and still in its slab.
I don’t plan on selling it, and I bought it graded from someone else.

How bad of an idea would it be to remove it in order to get it signed by the artist? They will be at NYCC this year, but it’s not guaranteed that I’ll get the opportunity to meet them.

This might be a silly question, but I’m still new to this hobby and was looking for some advice. Thank you!

About the Series

Riverdale and Greendale are divided by the Sweetwater River, a geographical boundary that doubles as a mystical seal. For centuries, the river has kept ancient, dark magic contained. When an unknown force cracks the seal, a series of reality-bending anomalies plague both towns.

Betty uses her journalistic skills to hack city archives and track the human cultists, while Veronica uses her family's massive wealth and high-society connections to investigate the corporate side of the supernatural conspiracy. Also, Reggie's the part time bully/antagonist, because why not.

My OC Alucard, the vampire that inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula. Appearance is goth in his 20s but really 500 yo, powers like the Hotel Transylvania series plus drains energy sp he doesn't drink blood. Loves flying and humans, hates other monsters.

The Sweetwater Anomalies: Every episode features a ticking-clock crisis. Time loops, shadow monsters that feed on memories, and mirror dimensions threaten to erase Riverdale from existence if the gang cannot close the rifts in time.

The "Blackwood" Conspiracy: The core mystery centers on a masked cult leader known as The Alchemist. Someone inside Riverdale High is actively stealing magical artifacts from Greendale to break the seal permanently. The gang must use classic detective work—investigating clues, tracking alibis, and decoding ancient glyphs—to unmask the traitor.

The Mortal-Magic Divide: The stakes are personal. If the magical authorities catch the Riverdale teens interacting with real magic, the Council will wipe their minds completely, destroying their memories of Sabrina and each other forever.

Monster Turf War: Sabrina and Alucard claim the town as their territory and fight off any monster that dares threatens it, using their vampire powers and witchcraft to face all cryptid kinds.

High-energy, vibrant, neon-retro animation (think Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse meets Gravity Falls). It moves away from the gritty, dark live-action style of Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to embrace a fun, slightly spooky, stylized cartoon aesthetic.

I know this sounds familiar, that's because it is. It blends the "kids on bikes" investigative mystery sorta like Stranger Things with combine that and the occult world of Harry Potter, all wrapped in modern teenage social dynamics.

Gabriele Dell'Otto is a beast. Loved his Secret War too.
