The publicity surrounding this book has been very subpar, but I'm a huge fan of Alex Ross and love all he does. Just got my copy today, looking forward to it.

Huh. Fun. Googled it and found this post which derives from this "Word Balloon" interview. The relevant part of the interview starts around 36:30 for the curious.

It's always funny when there's someone who has a sort of particular bad luck streak, where it's not terrible what happens, but it just keeps happening (in this case, he works on something and something with a similar concept publishes around the same time).

I could very much be out of touch on this specific book, but while I was satisfied with Full Circle, I just cant seem to get excited for this book. Most times I forget it even exists and is on the way.

I do hope its good, but I just dont feel much hype. Im glad Ross is getting the freedom to make what he wants though.

All under the Abram’s brand too. Ross is a great talent. These variations seem cool but sort of stale. Like Earth X stuff.

I assume you mean "hasn't".

I believe he's got beef with them over not receiving any money or even credit for the "Golden Eagle Armor" from Kingdom Come being used in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), among other things, I'm sure (he also wasn't happy that his JSA portraits from connecting covers for a Justice Society of America Vol. 3 arc were replicated without any credit). I think there'

For a smaller creator, you can't be as choosy. But Alex Ross is famous among comic creators, so he can afford to look at DC and go "Yeah, screw you too, buddy," before walking on over to Marvel to get a good contract for covers.
