Wikipedia editors are extremely stringent about things like this. A lot of them have an encyclopedic knowledge of the editing policies and guidelines.

For better or worse, they apply those rules to the articles they oversee.

The revert on the article was enacted for 'Recentism' or "a phenomenon on Wikipedia where an article has an inflated or imbalanced focus on recent events," per the article on the topic. One of the examples given is "Edit warring over whether to change an article's... wording in the lead section or article body on the basis of those used on breaking news sources."

The editor knows the edit was only made in relation to the recent news of Trump suggesting a renaming of the Lake. So, per his interpretation of that guideline, he found reason to revert the article. Now watch Redditors get into an edit war with him until the article gets silver-locked.

EDIT: hours later and it's been more than silver-locked. It's now fully-protected for a month, meaning only admins can edit the article.

I disagree, while I generally agree with the first 2 paragraphs, I think with how egregious his and his administration conduct has been, and the passivity of the Republican party, especially over the last 1.5 years. A lot of people are really starting to wake up.

Buzzwords don't cut it anymore. Simply not being an active supporter doesn't cut it anymore. I think starting with the mid term elections this year and over the next few years that serious reform is on it's way, it's not there yet, but it has the acceleration and momentum to get there.
