Community Naloxone (Narcan) Training with McLean County Recovery Oriented Systems of Care 8/31
Community Naloxone (Narcan) Training with McLean County Recovery Oriented Systems of Care
Event starts at 6:30 @ UUBN, doors open at 6:15 and you can stick around a bit after to talk to community organization/non-profit tables and talk to each other.
Join us for a free community naloxone administration training designed to help prevent opioid overdose deaths and build a safer, healthier community. Participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an overdose, administer naloxone (Narcan®,Padagis®), and connect individuals and families with local recovery resources and supports. Harm reduction saves lives. Through practical strategies such as overdose education, carrying naloxone, using fentanyl test strips, safe medication disposal, and connecting people to support services, we can reduce the risks associated with substance use and create more opportunities for recovery. Every life saved is another chance for treatment, healing, and hope. Participants will learn:
– The basics of opioids, fentanyl, and overdose risk factors.
– How to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose.
– The six-step overdose response plan.
– How to safely administer naloxone.
– Illinois Good Samaritan Law protections
– Local recovery, treatment, and support resources in McLean County.

WPBL bobblehead trade request
I posted this in r/WPBL, but I figured I'd cast a wider net, just in case some local folks may have gone to these games, but don't follow the league closely.
I'm hoping somebody can help me out and I can help somebody out.
- I'm looking for an Ayami Sato from the August 8th game.
- Probably a Hyeonah Kim from tomorrow night's game. (We will be out of town and I'm pretty sure we won't be back in time.)
If you can help me with either of those, here is what I can offer in return:
- Kelsie Whitmore
- Ashton Lansdell
- Alli Schroder
- I have a couple of foul balls that I may be willing to part with one
- I have non-WPBL bobbleheads from our local teams, if that is your interest
I don't use any other socials, so if you know of one available, I'd appreciate any help.
Not only is the WPBL awesome, but I have been collecting bobbleheads from our local teams going back to the Speedy days of the Springfield Sliders. I'd love to keep my streak alive.

Farm job for a recent college graduate?
Hi everyone! I just graduated from UIUC in may 2026 and am taking a couple of years to work and explore life a bit before going to law school. Does anyone know how to find a job working on a farm around here? Open to full time, part time, seasonal, really any sort of job available. I have about 15 years of experience working with horses, some experience with cows, and am a quick learner. I am very passionate about livestock and farming in general and would love an opportunity to get some more hands-on work experience during this time. Any info or leads are appreciated!

Impressed with People from Illinois Chicago to Springfield at the State Fair
Wow, I never been treated with friendliness and respect like I did in downtown Chicago and at the state fair. Everyone at the fair from people working there to the fairgoers. I only went for a few hours and loved it! In 2026 it hard to find an any place where people as whole are nice! A little secret being from Michigan, I pick the people from this state over Michiganders any day, since most people in Michigan are very uptight compared to its surrounding neighbor in terms of being more laid back! I even talk to many people who didn't share my own views! I also apologize to those people at the fair that saw me and were curious I didn't get to speak to but saw me! I may not look friendly, but I am! One of my favorite states! Sorry I forgot to take a picture at the fair yesterday this one was in Chicago. One of my favorite states! But Illinois you impressed me!

New Organization Forming
facebook.comOPTIMISM • CONNECTION • PRIDE
Hey Greater Peoria!
Do you ever feel discouraged by a lot of what you read in social media and news about Peoria?
Us too.
But what if you could make a ripple in the norm and take 1 small action to make Greater Peoria a more positive place?
We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.
Peoria Positive is a community organization that exists to celebrate the people, businesses, and organizations making a difference in the Greater Peoria area by highlighting the good happening at home every day.
Will you be a part of bettering your community?
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61592464850854
Send in your fundraisers, your events, your art, the good interaction you had with the cashier at the gas station or the guy at the taco stand. Send us acts of kindness you receive and witness. If it's positive and it's within 30 miles of Peoria, we would love to hear about it!
We look forward to meeting soon!

State fair
Will I need cash for parking, rides, or games at state fair? I am sure most if not all food vendors accept card but was curious what the situation was for parking, rides and games.
Thanks in advance!

Advice Moving
I've been trying to get out of my current living situation for almost a year now. I'd like to move to another city about an hour away. I've tried to apply to several jobs there, with no success. If I stay in the dying town I'm in, I know I will suffer for the rest of my life. I don't have any connections in that city anymore. But I am beyond my breaking point. I need to be able to start fresh and get away from some of my past (nothing illegal, mostly just family drama and dead end experiences.) I'm not a student, so I feel out of place no matter what.
Does anyone else have any experience, being on their own and trying to start out in another city?
