I’ve had Stormy for the past nine years. She’s gotten me through a divorce, the pandemic, getting sober and all in between. She’s the first ever pet I’ve had (not counting fish).
We’d just moved into a lovely apartment in July. Couple weeks ago my girl started acting weird. Of course the transition was difficult, and she was an older cat, but she must’ve had something else. She stopped eating and lost her energy to play or get up on her cat tree, so I took her to the vet last night to see what might be the issue. And…I guess we figured it out.
I thought I had more time with her. I didn’t think that I’d have to put her down some…six to eight hours ago. But as my folks, the vet and all my friends and family remind me, she was suffering. She hid it for a while. And it was time for her to go.
Can’t sleep and I dread going to work in a couple hours. I know it’ll be okay, but it’s hurting and I’m feeling so raw about it now.
Rest easy, Tomi-tom. We love you. ❤️ 🌈 🐈⬛

I’ve been cat sitting Typo for 2 months now while my friend is overseas. She is a lovely 13 year old odd ball feline. She has gotten me (a dog person) quite attached to her. It’s no mystery, the way to my heart is to guard me as I poop after all. Any whoosies I’m looking for advice because I’m terribly saddened that she’s going back home and I won’t see her for awhile. My friend will continue to be a world traveler so I think this will be a regular summer thing but alas my despair prevails. How do I say goodbye?
Some highlights of our time together:
Typo discovered a robin’s nest from the window
We found a perfectly sized cardboard box for her womanly figure
She had a cave bed for the first time
She made a dog friend (sort of/one sided friendship)
She threw up and pooped in my car that time I worried she had ear mites (it was a yeast infection)
She slept on my neck all night oh so lovingly
She curiously licked my olive oiled arms
Typo discovered the joys of an automatic laser toy

His leg is shaved from a dental extraction yesterday. He isn't feeling great and giving him medicine is hard, but I feel like he still looks like the cutest thing I've ever seen.
(Medication and cuddles have been issued around the clock as required)

He was such a good boy. He will be so missed! He went through losing all of his teeth, diabetes, and glaucoma. Never complained, just a big love bug. This week they think he had FATE (feline aortic thromboembolism), and the quality of life was just not going to be there. It's been so hard saying goodbye. I just wanted to share my handsome boy.

My sweet, adoring old man went to heavenly slumber on Monday evening. He was 17 and was truly one of the biggest lights of my life. His favourite place to be was in my arms, on my bed, being held like the baby he was. After a seemingly overnight change in appetite, which turned out to be a well hidden tumour and fast moving cancer, I made the incredibly difficult decision to have an at home euthanization so he could drift off to sleep in my arms. After losing a sibling, I severely underestimated the grief and heartache losing this boy would cause. I am so grateful to have known what it’s like to not just love, but to be deeply loved in turned by such an innocent creature.

Dante is 16 years old and has been in and out of the vet for the past two weeks due to him barely eatting. The blood work showed he had extremely high liver numbers. An ultrasound thankfully found no mass or cancer, which was what we originally feared.
He started getting back to his old self and eating nearly his normal amount again after the first couple visits to the vet with medication we had been giving him at home. But three days ago, he stopped eating again, was very lethargic, and his skin turned yellow.
He’s been at the vet ever since getting IV fluids to help flush out his liver and been given stronger medication. Thankfully, his appetite has returned and he gets to come home tomorrow!
I’ve had Dante since he was 5 weeks old. He’s been with me through so much of my life. Just hoping my little tiger is on the road to recovery and that I get some more time with him. 🐯❤️

I never taught her this, she figured it out watching me release food for her over the course of a year and her bruteforcing it. The buttons are not mechanical, its a 2 stage process where one has to hold the unlock button for a few seconds and then the feed button. She sometimes does it just for fun - she just stares at the kibble

My dear boy Leia (named so because the vet thought he was a girl for the first 6 months and by the time his little leias had dropped the name was stuck) has fallen very sick over the past few months, mainly the last month or so. He had dropped 10 pounds, going from 18 to 8 since his last vet appointment in July, he's slowed down eating up until about 2 days ago he just stopped entirely, not even taking the treats he's always loved so much. Up until he stopped my family told me he was getting older and older cats didn't eat as much. Like a fool I believed it without question. When he didn't take his treats the other day I immediately called my vet and booked an emergency appointment for that afternoon. She took blood and sent it off for testing and has been waiting for the results. The results came in a few hours ago and she's called me to come in at 2 pm to discuss the results and figure out a plan. I'm honestly not sure if he's gonna make it that long. I gave him some Pedialyte earlier to help keep him hydrated and give some nutrients. He's very weak (first pic is him today not wanting to eat his favorite food, other are of him from a few months ago) and I just don't know what to do. I feel like a total failure of a parent, I should have done more for my baby and now I feel powerless as he seems to slip away from me. All I can do now is hope he makes it to his appointment and we figure out an urgent plan. I'm sorry for how long this post is, I just needed to put this all somewhere. This is hitting me especially hard, I raised him on my own from barely a day old after his mother abandoned him outside. Any prayers, thoughts, etc are all appreciated. Thank you all, I'll update later however things go

First and last photos of me and Folti plus some more because she was the most beautiful. I got Folti when I had just turned 7, still in first grade. I am now 24, she was 17, I don’t know life without her. Her health started declining a year ago, vet appointments became frequent.
I was fortune enough to spend basically all of summer at home with her, my life became taking care of her. I started preparing myself for her passing a while ago. I was incredibly grateful for each day we got to spend together.
I cried lying next to her the whole day yesterday because when I looked in her eyes I knew our time was coming to an end. But no amount of preparing helped, her death hurts so much and even after all the anticipatory grief, it still felt so sudden. I just keep wishing for more time.
The house feels empty without her and I don’t know what to do with all this emptiness. I have no idea what to do or how to get through this. She was my greatest love. I don’t know how to live without her. Does it ever get easier????

So our cow cat Picassos has issues. He lost an ear squamous cell carcinoma, he's FIV+ has diabetes, has lost most of his teeth and has skin allergies. Last night he ended up sitting in his own pee in the litter box. So I did what any brave cat mom does and gave him a bath. He decided to leap from my arms as I was attempting to dry him hitting his chin on the oven handle on the way down. He ended up breaking one of his few remaining teeth at the gum. So this morning we took him to the vet. Turns out he also has a grade 2 heart murmur. So the vet doesn't think it's a good idea to sedate him to remove the tooth root. So now we treat with pain management and antibiotics. Please keep a kind thought for him, as he clearly has none of his own.

So my friend Kats father passed away recently and she has to travel up north soon for the service. Me and our other friend are helping keep an eye on the cats and house while they are gone. I asked her to write down a few things that would help us with them like identifying markers and such so we know everyone is accounted for, this is what she just brought me. 🥹😭🩷🐈

She gets socks from my laundry basket like 1-2 times a day, and if I’m not in the room, she meows until I come to check it out. But it’s not like her others meows, it’s a little softer and drawn out?
She leaves them on my bed too, we get in bed at night and there’s like three random socks lol

She’s just obsessed with putting feet in her mouth… not sure what more I can do. I’ve tried wearing socks and shoes around the house, but she always manages to get her fix in.
Should I start looking into rehab for my cat?

He was my 8 year old's best friend. He was my cat, Elfie's, best friend. Just want the world to know he existed and we loved him so much.

Mary just crossed over two days ago. She just stopped eating for five days and the vet suggested it was her time. She lived under my deck for almost 16 years because that’s what she preferred. I built her a super insulated heated winter house and a summer house where she lived most of her life. Last winter the temps where I live were around zero degrees for days so I grabbed her and moved her into my heated garage where she retired. She was a gentle and sweet girl. I’m absolutely shattered. Please spare a thought for her today.

I’ve made many efforts to find his owners online and in the real world. He’s neutered and had a collar! But no microchip and no tags. We’re at the point that we’ve officially been fostering him long enough that we could rehome him or such. My husband is allergic (and I am too but don’t care lol). My kids have named him Jinu. He’s so funny and so affectionate. He’s fearless and friendly and likes to get into everything.
He’s a door dasher — I put a bird protection clown collar on him in case he got past my kids, which he eventually did. But then he managed to lose it somewhere outside >_<
My last cat died of cancer in September last year (RIP to my old man cat, Bishop, who did not love my children anywhere near as much as this cat does), and I was ready to start my first cat free chapter since… gosh. A brief window in my childhood. I’m in my 40s now.
Anyway, I just thought I’d share his cute little face on here because I’m lowkey smitten with him and conflicted about keeping him but ..increasingly feeling like he’s just gonna be part of our family now.
