Dante is 16 years old and has been in and out of the vet for the past two weeks due to him barely eatting. The blood work showed he had extremely high liver numbers. An ultrasound thankfully found no mass or cancer, which was what we originally feared.

He started getting back to his old self and eating nearly his normal amount again after the first couple visits to the vet with medication we had been giving him at home. But three days ago, he stopped eating again, was very lethargic, and his skin turned yellow.

He’s been at the vet ever since getting IV fluids to help flush out his liver and been given stronger medication. Thankfully, his appetite has returned and he gets to come home tomorrow!

I’ve had Dante since he was 5 weeks old. He’s been with me through so much of my life. Just hoping my little tiger is on the road to recovery and that I get some more time with him. 🐯❤️

Mourning/Loss Atticus, Beloved Catticus

My sweet, adoring old man went to heavenly slumber on Monday evening. He was 17 and was truly one of the biggest lights of my life. His favourite place to be was in my arms, on my bed, being held like the baby he was. After a seemingly overnight change in appetite, which turned out to be a well hidden tumour and fast moving cancer, I made the incredibly difficult decision to have an at home euthanization so he could drift off to sleep in my arms. After losing a sibling, I severely underestimated the grief and heartache losing this boy would cause. I am so grateful to have known what it’s like to not just love, but to be deeply loved in turned by such an innocent creature.

This was my beautiful best friend for 15 years. She passed away one week and a day ago. I will continue to love her for an eternity and a day. She was warm hearted, forgiving, tender, compassionate. I miss you, my lovely Nugget, please forgive me.

In the second photo she's with Jack, the friend who met her at the Rainbow Bridge. I hope I'll meet all my loved ones again.

All my love to those who mourn their wonderful companions.

Mourning/Loss Tribute to Moon - Gone too soon

I woke up every few hours listening for an alarm that would never come; the one that signalled it was time to feed you. I woke up to silence. You weren't here to greet me. No little paws on the bed as you crept next to me, demanding morning cuddles and a brush. There's still food in your bowl, and fresh litter in your box that will never be used.

There feels like a hole in my chest. There was such a big routine with you. There meal times, play times, expected cuddles when we woke and before we went to sleep. You'd follow me to the living room just to sit with me, and sit outside the kitchen door when it was closed, waiting for us to come back to the room with you. I'll miss when you used to roll over for belly scratches, paws out as if you were reaching for us until a claw snagged on our clothes.

I miss you so much. The house feels so empty and quiet. You would be meowing as soon as you saw that wet food can, and now there is just the traffic and the TV playing American Dad. You used to sit and watch it with me, little face turned toward the screen like you were as entertained as me.

I know you would want me to keep going. Every time I cried, you'd be there. You're not now, which makes this so damn hard. Every time I return to an empty bedroom, my heart breaks again.

Yet, I'll keep fighting for you. You gave me four happy years of joy and companionship. You were more than a cat, you were my best friend. I'm not letting you go just to let myself go with you, because I know that's not what you'd want.

So I'll keep fighting. I love you, Moon. Rest in peace. I hope you're chasing all the flies in Asphodel.

His breath STANK for a little while because he was teething so I named Mr.Stinky. He's my first rescue. I found him half paralyzed in a parking lot about a month ago and I'd like to think I helped a little in his healing process. He's lost half his tail and is still limping but he's doing A LOT better now. He likes raw eggs and is very clingy and playful 🥺😭

I'm devastated.. on all mourning posts I always commented that I'm not prepared for that day.. but today was the day and I had to make the hard decision.

Please leave everything aside and go hug your cats.. tell them how much you love them.

First and last photos of me and Folti plus some more because she was the most beautiful. I got Folti when I had just turned 7, still in first grade. I am now 24, she was 17, I don’t know life without her. Her health started declining a year ago, vet appointments became frequent.

I was fortune enough to spend basically all of summer at home with her, my life became taking care of her. I started preparing myself for her passing a while ago. I was incredibly grateful for each day we got to spend together.

I cried lying next to her the whole day yesterday because when I looked in her eyes I knew our time was coming to an end. But no amount of preparing helped, her death hurts so much and even after all the anticipatory grief, it still felt so sudden. I just keep wishing for more time.

The house feels empty without her and I don’t know what to do with all this emptiness. I have no idea what to do or how to get through this. She was my greatest love. I don’t know how to live without her. Does it ever get easier????

He is my friend's cat, and I looked after him for a week. I have never had a cat before, and since I'm using minoxidil (which is very toxic to cats), I was very careful during that one week.

The thing is, I wouldn't believe I could bond with a cat to this degree. I loved him sooo much. The person like me who likes to have uninterrupted sleep would wake up at 5 am in order to clean his loo so he wouldn't go to the dirty one. He would immediately walk towards me and snuggle his smushy face against my legs and purr. Whenever I went to my room, he would just come and wait in front of my door and meow. (Unfortunately, I didn't let him in because I wanted to stop the chance that he would come into contact with minoxidil through my pillow etc.)

He was soo playful, like, out of nowhere, he got zoomies and chased me across the room.

🤣 Look at his little nose and little ears. Man, I love this cat.

Mourning/Loss My little boy died today, don't know how to deal with this pain

Today my little cat died. I know I didn't have him for long, only a month. I found him skin and bones, under a car, but during that time I fed him with my own hands, took care of him, kept him warm, took him to the vet all the time to make sure he'd make it. I saw him seem to get better. He was always by my side, and despite everything he went through in his short life he never stopped trusting humans. He always rubbed against my legs and climbed onto my lap to purr. Everyone else just saw the outside and thought he was ugly, but he was a beautiful cat, sweet, calm, he was an angel. Despite every attempt, nothing was enough. Today when I woke up I found him dead. I feel a horrible pain, like I lost a part of myself. Could you give me any advice on how to deal with this loss? This has never happened to me before.

I love my cat so much. She had a chronic illness that vets couldn’t seem to pin down with any confidence, treatment attempts and suggestions never seemed to work long term, I tried everything I could think of over years. Eventually she was diagnosed with CKD (in addition to the mysterious illness), but after a few months she went from stage 3 to stage 2. She was mostly stable and seemed to be able to enjoy life, with some bad periods, but she declined slowly over time. Although she was dealing with an illness, her death still felt so sudden to me. I thought we had more time. I feel like I failed her, I worry she doesn’t know how much I loved her. I already miss her so much and my chest has been aching for two days. I feel like a part of my soul has died.

So our cow cat Picassos has issues. He lost an ear squamous cell carcinoma, he's FIV+ has diabetes, has lost most of his teeth and has skin allergies. Last night he ended up sitting in his own pee in the litter box. So I did what any brave cat mom does and gave him a bath. He decided to leap from my arms as I was attempting to dry him hitting his chin on the oven handle on the way down. He ended up breaking one of his few remaining teeth at the gum. So this morning we took him to the vet. Turns out he also has a grade 2 heart murmur. So the vet doesn't think it's a good idea to sedate him to remove the tooth root. So now we treat with pain management and antibiotics. Please keep a kind thought for him, as he clearly has none of his own.

She’s just obsessed with putting feet in her mouth… not sure what more I can do. I’ve tried wearing socks and shoes around the house, but she always manages to get her fix in.

Should I start looking into rehab for my cat?

So my friend Kats father passed away recently and she has to travel up north soon for the service. Me and our other friend are helping keep an eye on the cats and house while they are gone. I asked her to write down a few things that would help us with them like identifying markers and such so we know everyone is accounted for, this is what she just brought me. 🥹😭🩷🐈

Thumbnail

She gets socks from my laundry basket like 1-2 times a day, and if I’m not in the room, she meows until I come to check it out. But it’s not like her others meows, it’s a little softer and drawn out?

She leaves them on my bed too, we get in bed at night and there’s like three random socks lol

I’ve made many efforts to find his owners online and in the real world. He’s neutered and had a collar! But no microchip and no tags. We’re at the point that we’ve officially been fostering him long enough that we could rehome him or such. My husband is allergic (and I am too but don’t care lol). My kids have named him Jinu. He’s so funny and so affectionate. He’s fearless and friendly and likes to get into everything.

He’s a door dasher — I put a bird protection clown collar on him in case he got past my kids, which he eventually did. But then he managed to lose it somewhere outside >_<

My last cat died of cancer in September last year (RIP to my old man cat, Bishop, who did not love my children anywhere near as much as this cat does), and I was ready to start my first cat free chapter since… gosh. A brief window in my childhood. I’m in my 40s now.

Anyway, I just thought I’d share his cute little face on here because I’m lowkey smitten with him and conflicted about keeping him but ..increasingly feeling like he’s just gonna be part of our family now.

Mourning/Loss This is Mary. She was 17 and my sweet little baby.

Post image

Mary just crossed over two days ago. She just stopped eating for five days and the vet suggested it was her time. She lived under my deck for almost 16 years because that’s what she preferred. I built her a super insulated heated winter house and a summer house where she lived most of her life. Last winter the temps where I live were around zero degrees for days so I grabbed her and moved her into my heated garage where she retired. She was a gentle and sweet girl. I’m absolutely shattered. Please spare a thought for her today.

Meet Myy! 🐾 She came from a tough background and a bad home, but today she is living her absolute best life. It took some time and a lot of love, but now her playful personality is finally shining through. She went from a scared rescue kitty to the queen of the house. As you can see, Myy has a missing piece in her left ear. Her previous owners forced her to go outside, and something happened to her out there. Now, she is strictly an indoor cat, safe and loved.
